C2 Chapter 2

Zion's POV

I clenched and unclenched my hand, preventing my wolf from taking over. That useless of a man that calls himself Daniel keeps getting on my nerves all the time and it's so irritating. At times I wish I can just cut off his neck.

You should have allowed me to take over at the meeting, my wolf Rex growled out in my head.

"Rex calm down. You know there are many humans around here and if we put down a fight it wouldn't be nice at all" I tried to calm him down.

At times I don't know why you get this nice. This won't help you at all. You need to fight back, Rex was adamant.

" Oh, I'll y own specific time. He doesn't know what is about to hit him" I assured him.

Rex growled out.

That sick bastard! He thinks he can have everything just with a click of a finger. He doesn't know who we are yet, he doesn't know that he's playing with fire and he should be ready to get burned,

I Sat upright, Rex is trying hard to take over and I won't allow that right now. He has zero control of his emotions and I'm not ready for that right now.

" Calm down Rex."

He groaned in my head.

I just need his blood right now and it's annoying that I can't get that right now. But when I get hold of him, he better know what's coming for him.

" Trust me on that. No one around here knows that he's a wolf and no other than the child of the Alpha of the west. But above all, all alphas must bow down before me and me alone. I'll show him no mercy when the time comes"

This is what I love hearing. No MERCY!!

I blew out a breath. My bodyguards are still outside waiting for Alex to be in the car. I wonder where that man is. He just won't stay in one place. Yes, I told him to join me at the meeting but that man knows how to dodge things, he tricked me and left me alone to have my meeting. I can manage myself well but needed him along to calm me down when I'm out of control because things can easily get bloody if I don't.

What calmed me down most, was this beautiful scent that I perceived. I don't know from where or who but I sure love the scent. Rex also purred. That made me wonder if that could be my mate but I doubt it.

I'm cursed by the moon goddess. She deprived me of having a second mate. As alpha and for several years of my living, I was blessed to have just two mates. In case I losloslosel find the other.

Hailey,

She was my first love. Her beautiful angelic eyes keep flashing in my dream. I loved her so much that it hurts not to see her by my side. It still hurts. I've been called strong multiple times but I know deep down there is this weak side of mine that wants to break down at the thought of here.

Hailey was killed by some rogues who tried to take my throne from me.

That night was like a dream to me. A dream that left a mark in my entire soul.

" Hey man!"

Alex cut me off from my thoughts as he entered the car.

I glared hard at him and he turned mute immediately.

He playfully squirmed " why did you suddenly glare like someone I just met? I hope it's just my imagination"

I scoffed " Really Alex? Is that all you can say? You kept me waiting for ages and you're sitting telling me that I glare like someone you just met!"

" Calm your cities. I only went for like how many minutes"

" But I told you to follow me to the meeting, didn't I?" I shot back.

" Ok fine. I'm truly sorry" he sighed then rubbed his face out of frustration " this business of a thing keeps getting on my nerves at times. That's why I just decided to leave you hanging. But look at the bright side of things, I met a new friend She's so sweet and scary at the same time if that could be a better way of putting it "

I stared hard at him. This is the first time seeing Alex so happy talking about a girl. After his mate rejected him he's been in his shell not until now that he looks kind of loosened up. This is new.

" Could she be a new mate ?"

He stared at me like I'm crazy " not everyone is lucky to have a second mate. Remember you're the King alpha and only you can have a second mate. I'm happy for you"

I raised a brow " I don't need a second mate and I've been cursed from having a second mate Hailey is the only one for me and no one else.

Alex cackled " just wait till it hits you hard, hard enough that you'll thank me later for all my advice. You and I both know that there is a solution to the curse and that is for you to beg the moon goddess. She listens to our cries. At times she can be heartless but she does listen.

" I don't want to hear it, man. Keep your sick advice to yourself."

I motioned the driver to drive the car to the kingdom. My people await me.

The maid came in to pack my now empty plate. She smiled lovingly at me.

Granny as we love to call her is one o our old cooks. She's been with the family for ages now and her food keeps tasting better all the time.

" Do you need anything else?" She asked as she was done packing the plate.

I shook my head " No. You can leave"

She nodded then made her way to the door.

" Wait, granny!" I couldn't help but stop her.

She turned to give me this concerned look she always does " what is it, son?"

I let out a deep breath then kept the newspaper I was holding on the couch " please come and have your seat"

She looks at me skeptically but sat down nevertheless " you're scaring me, dear. Is anything the matter?"

I smiled a little bit to appease her mind " actually everything is perfect. I just need your advice on something that has been bothering me lately"

She nodded for me to go ahead " you can talk to me"

" Do you think I don't deserve a second chance?"

She cock a brow not knowing why I'm asking her this "Of of course you deserve a second chance. The moon goddess isn't that heartless to abandon us."

" You people keep saying that but look at me. I'm shattered from within. You people keep on worshipping her and giving her all the respect but where is she when you need her. She wasn't there when Hailey died. She didn't bring my Ailey back to life. Who does that to the people they claim they love !"

Granny allowed me to rant my heart out. She knows the kind of great pain I've been through when I lost here. I needed time to control myself. It was too much to take in if not for granny that had been beside me and yes my parents. They also did their part.

" I know you're still in much pain and I know how it feels to lose a mate. It hurts a lot but that should never have you curse the goddess. We can't have everything forever. It's how life is. We lost and we also gain. Remember, you lost heiley but in return, you gain your full power"

I stared at her like she's got two heads. What is she saying?

She smiled encouragingly " I'm not saying losing Healey is an achievement. No, please don't get me wrong. All I'm saying is you lost here but the moon goddess still haven't forgotten you, she gave you your full powers and also promised you a second mate"

I glared at her angrily " Second mate, do you think a second mate will fill this void I'm feeling? Do you think that's what I want? All I want is my here and I just wish she was here with me. I'm not happy granny, I'm not happy at all and it's disturbing. I don't want a second mate"

" Ok then, anything you say my king. Just remember, heiley will also love to see you happy again. She's in a peaceful world watching over you.". With that being said, granny stood up and made her leave.

I stared into space trying to reason what the nanny said. Will Hailey be happy about getting a second mate?

I've told you before man, I told you we need a second mate. I need a woman's touch, Rex said unexpectedly

I was already used to his interrupting side. He always appears when he's not needed.

"What do you mean by I always appear when I'm not needed. Remember we share the same body, the same mate. The only thing I know we don't share is our thinking. I'm sharper than you while you're so lenient. Sometimes I wish you will allow me to finally take over. I'll show you how to be a man and everyone must bow."

I shook my head at him. Rex can be something else times " leave me alone Rex. Not everything is about the shedding of blood. If I allow you to take control a lot would be missing and I can't deal with that right now "

"Just try me and see. If everything didn't work out then never allow me to be in control again."

" We'll see about that but not now "

"I want my mate. Don't you think it's time to hunt for her? And less I forget, remember you promise me that we'll go to this upcoming party on the other side of town. The party where mateless wolf finds their mate. We might also get lucky"

I rolled my eyes " I don't need any mate, just calm down Rex. Moreover, I can't go to the party because people would know who I am"

"It's Halloween man, we'll be disguised into a costume and it'll be hard for people to recognize us" Rex tried persuading me"

I let out a loud breath and just decided to agree on one if not he won't allow me to see the living end of things.
