C6 Do you love me?

Code remained silent for more than 5 minutes, trying to think of a way to get out of the situation at hand without twisting himself in it anymore. He could barely make eye contact with Chloe cause it would be very hard for him to lie to those tear-filled eyes.

Chloe's patience was already running thin, her heart pounding even heavier than it actually would. "Is anyone going to tell me what is going on, or will you two just keep staring at each other and at me?"

Code cleared his throat, indicating that he was finally ready to speak, "Chloe," he called out before taking a deep breath. "See, I don't know what you heard, I was just having a conversation with Nathan, and you know you shouldn't be eavesdropping on our conversation." He said, trying to turn the whole thing on Chloe.

"Oh, is that So?" Chloe said, wiping off her tears with the back of her palm. "Well, I wasn't actually eavesdropping on your conversation until I heard you mention my name. I couldn't believe it when I heard you say you love me and that is what I am here to confirm."

"Code Anderson, Do you really love me?"

Nathan's eyes darted between the both of them as he waited for Code's response. Now they were back to square one, waiting for a response from Code.

"Chloe, do not misunderstand me, I have a fiancée who I will be getting married to as soon as we end this contract, so don’t even keep your hopes high," Code said, his eyes darting around the room as he couldn't dare to look Chloe in the eyes.

Chloe rolled her eyes at Code, "You haven’t answered my question yet, Do you love me?"

"Chloe" Code called out and Chloe cut in.

"Code Anderson, for the last time, do you love me? Just say the words and let me know my place."

Code closed his eyes, he didn’t want to say the words, he could never let her know that he loved her, his insecurity would never allow it. "Our marriage is nothing but a contract, Chloe we are not a thing and we can never be a thing. Just understand this already, whatever you heard was a lie. I and Nathan were just having our moment, don't get too worked up about things."

Chloe's patience had worn thin, and her eyes blazed with anger as she stared at Code. " Oh fuck! Code..." she stretched the last part of his name. "So, that's your final answer, Code Anderson? Our marriage is nothing but a contract?” Chloe turned to Nathan, her tone demanding.” Nathan, do you have anything to say? Is that the same thing he was telling you?"

Nathan shifted uncomfortably, caught in the middle of this tense confrontation. "Chloe, it's not what you think. I..." He began to speak but was interrupted by the sound of a soft knock at the door. Everyone turned their attention to the door as it creaked open slightly, revealing Martina on the other side.

"Code, baby, are you there?" Martina's voice called out, her tone sweet and endearing.

Chloe's anger flared even more upon hearing Martina's voice, she wished she could just tie her up and dump her somewhere far away until she was able to get the truth from Code. Code on the other hand felt so relieved on hearing Martina's voice, this was the perfect distraction he had been looking for. "Mattie, you haven't gone to bed yet?" He said moving towards the door.

Martina let out a small smile as she opened the door a little more. "Just wanted to say Good night to you but it seems you are quite busy."

Code shook his head like he was trying to return to reality, "No, not at all. They were just leaving, come over here." Code said, stretching a hand towards Martina for a goodnight hug.

Chloe's eyes burnt with jealousy as she watched them embrace themselves so passionately. Her tears which had earlier dried up started forming again in her eyes.

"Fuck my stupid life," Chloe muttered to herself as she pushed the door wide open and stormed out, intentionally brushing against Martina's shoulder before leaving.

Nathan hurried towards the door to follow after Chloe but Code called out to him just before he could move out. He looked a lot more relieved than he was when Chloe was still in the room, "Nathan" Code called out releasing himself from the embrace. "Please make sure she is aright, but also try not to say a word about this to her."

Nathan nodded and hurried after Chloe, leaving Code to deal with Martina. "Good night, baby" Martina mouthed and then blew a kiss at him before finally leaving the room.

"Fuck!!!" Code yelled as soon as he was sure Martina had gone far away from his room. He buried his hands in his face and with a heavy sigh, he ran his hands through his hair, gripping this short brown hair like he wanted to rip it off from his head.

"What the fuck am I even doing? I hope Chloe is able to forgive me for being a jerk," Code whispered to himself, he had never been this confused about his feelings for anyone.

"This certainly can't be love when I keep hurting the one I think I love." He let out a heavy sigh as he slowly squeezed his eyes, cleaning the tears which had been running down his cheeks.

"Chloe, Chloe please listen to me. You can't go out alone by this time, it's very late," Nathan Chased Chloe who was already heading for the gate.

"Where do you intend to go? Are you even having money on you? Chloe come on." Nathan continued to plead with Chloe who seemed not to be listening. At this time, they had already gotten outside of the gate and Chloe was busy looking for a taxi to get her away from Nathan as soon as possible.

After a long time of ignoring Nathan, Chloe finally turned back to speak to him. " Please leave me alone, and don't you dare follow me.

You and your stupid friend should enjoy your fucking lives, just forget about me and ask Code never to come for me." A taxi finally stopped for her after so much waving and she got in.

"Chloe" Nathan called out without getting a response. He stood back and watched the taxi zoom off with Chloe in it.
