C7 It's all your fault

Code picked up his phone and dialled Mr. Walker's number, after a few rings he heard the voice of the receiver as he placed the phone on his ear.

"Hello, Code! How was your journey?" Mr. Walker's deep voice came through from the other end of the phone.

"I messed up big time, I don't think I can continue hiding my feelings for Chloe anymore." Code blurted out, totally ignoring Mr. Walter's question.

Denis Walker was Code's personal adviser, and also his father's former friend. He was the man who supported Code and his mother when Code's father, Jared Philips, went ahead and dumped his 17-year-old son and sick wife for a rich woman. Mr. Walker never really had a lot of funds as per se but even at that, he tried his best to help Code and his mother. He was divorced and ever since he has not thought to get married to any other person. His only child who happens to be a girl named April tagged along with her mom and they have tried their best to stay as far as they could from him.

Denis Walker was a business strategist and so with a few ideas from him and a lot of hard work from Code, Code Anderson was able to attain two successful companies at the young age of 20 and he has been running them very well since then, up until now that he is 26. Although he almost crashed at some point when his Ex, Carissa, tried to play some dirty games. Mr. Walker did not only advise him about business, he was also his relationship adviser. You know as a young billionaire, he needed to be careful with the kind of relationships he was entering into and that was what Mr. Walker was watching out for.

"What are you talking about? What did you do?" Mr. Walker's voice Came through from the other end of the line.

Code scratched his short brown hair as he paced back and forth in the room, almost panting like he was being chased. " Chloe overheard me talking to Nathan about my feelings for her and then she asked me if it was true but I just kept reminding her that she is my collateral wife and nothing else. I just want to let her know the truth..." Code was still talking when Mr. Walker cut in.

"Calm down my boy, take a deep breath..." Code's heavy breath was heard from the other end of the line. "Good! Code, just stay strong. We will see tomorrow. Maybe you should come over to the office and see how things have been so far and from there, we would discuss... Okay?" Mr. Walker advised.

Code let out a heavy sigh, he felt a bit more composed after talking to Mr. Walker. He nodded to himself as he considered the advice given. "Alright, Sir Walker. I'll try my best to be at the office tomorrow."

Just as he was about to end the call, the door to his room burst open, and Nathan rushed in, a worried look on his face. "Code, we have a problem!"

Code's heart skipped a beat, he quickly disconnected the call and turned to Nathan. "What's going on, Nathan? Is it about Chloe?"

Nathan nodded vigorously, his words coming out in a rush. "Yes, Chloe's gone. She took a taxi and left, and I have no idea where she's headed."

Code's eyes widened in shock. "Oh no no no no... What is all this, Nathan, we need to find her immediately. Did she say anything to you before she left? Any clues about where she might be going?"

Nathan thought for a moment, trying to recall their brief conversation. "She was upset, Code. She told me to leave her alone and not to follow her. I couldn't get much out of her, all I know is that you really hurt Chloe's feelings."

Code clenched his fists, his mind racing. "I'll contact the guards to go and find her, I mean this was all their fault, why would they even let her go out by this time of the day?"

"It is no other than your fault, don't blame anyone else. You should know that whatever happens to Chloe tonight is nothing but your fault." Nathan said, his annoyance evident in his tone.

Chloe dialled Kira's number as soon as She got into the taxi, "Come on pick up," she muttered to herself as the taxi driver continued to drive.

Chloe's heart raced as she continued to dial Kira's number, praying that her friend would pick up. After a few more rings, Kira finally answered, her voice groggy from sleep.

"Chloe? What's going on? Why are you calling so late?" Kira asked, still half awake.

Tears welled up in Chloe's eyes as she tried to keep her voice steady. "Kira, I need your help. I... I had a fight with Code, and I just couldn't stay there any longer. I'm in a taxi, and I don't have any money to pay for the fare. Can you please come out and bring some money?"

Kira's sleepiness quickly vanished as she heard the distress in Chloe's voice. "Of course, Chloe. I'll come out right away. Just tell me where you are."

Chloe quickly glanced out the taxi window and read a street sign. "I'm close to your place already, Please hurry."

Kira assured her, "I'll be there as soon as I can. Hang in there, Chloe."

The taxi continued to move, and Chloe asked the driver, "How much will the fare be?"

The driver glanced at the meter and replied, "It's currently $20."

Chloe informed Kira. "It's $20. Please come quickly."

As they neared Kira's apartment, Chloe anxiously watched for her friend. She stretched her neck, looking outside the window for any trace of Kira and when she wasn't seeing any sign of her friend, she tried to call once again.

The call made it easier for Kira to locate them and finally, Kira arrived, rushing towards the waiting taxi. Chloe quickly jumped out.

"Thank you, Kira," Chloe said, her voice trembling with gratitude.

Kira handed the taxi driver a $20 bill, and in no time, the taxi was out of sight. Then, the two friends hurriedly walked away from the taxi, making their way into the house.

Kira's brain had gone haywire after she heard that Code and Chloe had gotten into a fight. Seeing that Chloe ran away from home she knew that it would definitely be something serious.

Kira threw her hand across Chloe's shoulder, pressing hard on her shoulder to offer her support. "You would be fine, Chloe." She assured.

Chloe continued to sob, she thought the exact opposite, just a moment ago, she thought she had a chance in Code's life, but now, she feels like she is just the stupid lover girl who could never be loved.
