C7 A Bodyguard

Soong Yang's spirits soared, and he readily accepted.

Rann Lianyi knelt on the floor, presenting the documents to Soong Yang with both hands. From his elevated position, Soong Yang had a clear view of her form—a privilege befitting a distinguished Golden Dragon Cardholder. He reveled in the moment.

His distant aunt was filled with regret, her complexion ashen. Had she introduced her daughter to Soong Yang earlier, she could have been basking in wealth! With a sycophantic smile, she said, "Yang, I really do like you, you know."

Once Soong Yang finished signing, he helped his mother to her feet. Turning to his distant aunt, he said, "I've been meaning to tell you, I'm actually quite wealthy. You never gave me the chance to say it, but from now on, let's not cross paths again." With those final words, he exited the private room, just as a group approached.

A delightful little girl led the pack. Catching sight of Soong Yang, she exclaimed with joy, "Brother, I need to talk to you!"

Rann Lianyi interjected, "Mr. Soong, if you're occupied, I'll excuse myself. Should you require my assistance, feel free to call me." She offered the young girl a courteous smile before departing.

It was then that Soong Yang recognized the girl as Xia Yumeng, the one he had rescued earlier. He asked, somewhat taken aback, "Is there something you need?"

With cheeks tinged pink, Xia Yumeng murmured, "I was hoping to ask if you'd be interested in being my personal bodyguard."

Soong Yang found himself hesitating. Having just come into a fortune of two billion, the idea of working for someone else was less than appealing.

Soong's mother, eyeing Xia Yumeng, chimed in, "She's adorable. Yang, why not just say yes?" He knew his mother too well; she likely saw Xia Yumeng as a potential bride for him.

Still, Soong Yang wavered.

Noticing his reluctance, Xia Yumeng's face fell, her disappointment nearly bringing her to tears.

Meanwhile, the live broadcast room buzzed with fervent debate.

"Come on, Anchor, that little girl is practically in tears. Just say yes already!"

"If she were asking me, I'd have said yes in a heartbeat with how pretty she is."

Soong Yang was torn between laughter and tears reading the comments; everyone seemed to be chastising him.

As the viewers' frustration mounted, the popularity of his livestream soared. He had spent 100,000 popularity points to unlock a skill earlier, leaving him with a balance of 50,000 points.

But these viewers were here to berate him, leaving Soong Yang uncertain whether to feel elated or disheartened.

Just then, Soong's mother gave him a nudge.

Glancing at Xia Yumeng's tearful face and then at his mother, Soong Yang quickly conceded, "Alright, I agree."

"Really? That's wonderful!" Xia Yumeng's face lit up with a smile.

Her adorable reaction coaxed a smile from Soong Yang, who then said, "I've made my promise, but I'll need a couple of days off. I have to take my mom home first."

"That's absolutely fine. Do you need a car? I'll have my butler lend you mine," offered Xia Yumeng.
