C5 Kenzie

Zoe

I walked into the private jet and looked at Mr. MacArthur in awe. He stared back at me for only a few seconds before he looked away like nothing ever happened last night, like he didn't kiss me and left me looking like a fool.

I took a seat and put my airpods on, if he was going to pretend like nothing ever happened, then I'll play along. I wasn't going to pretend that the kiss didn't affect me in any way, it did and I blamed myself for letting it affect me.

I pushed all thoughts of Mr. MacArthur aside and tried to focus on the music I was listening to. If he was going to treat me like one of his conquests, I won't let that happen. I told myself to be focused on being his secretary and not get distracted by him even though it was going to be hard. How can I not get distracted when ill be seeing his face everyday and worse, serving him coffee every morning?

I let myself bask in the harmonious voice of Ariana Grande and tried not to think about anything else. Soon, I fell asleep and woke up to Mark tapping me lightly and calling my name.

Mr. MacArthur was no longer in his seat and I figured that we had landed.

"Mr. MacArthur said to take you home," he said.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes. "Home? Ain't I supposed to be at the office?" I asked.

"He said you can take the day off. The day is almost over anyway."

I looked at my wristwatch, "It's just 2 pm."

He shrugged. "Four hours till closing hour, what's the difference?"

I was about to say 'four hours is the difference' but thought against it. I mean, if Mr. MacArthur said to take the day off, who am I to reject?

Mark drove me home in silence, he wasn't one to talk much, he hardly ever talked and I wondered if that's how bodyguards trained.

"Thank you," I said as I got down. He nodded and drove away.

I opened the door and the aroma of banana cake hit my nostrils.

"I'm home!" I announced and hung my jackets.

She came out of the kitchen taking off the mitten on her right hand. "Welcome home. How was your trip?" She asked.

I tried to find the right word for it but couldn't. It didn't even feel like a business trip to me because I got drunk, couldn't go for the meeting that made us go there in the first place and my boss kissed me. That wasn't a business trip at all. "It was fine. Is that banana cake I smell?"

"Yes, but it's for a customer."

"Can't I get a teeny-tiny piece?"

Aunt Emiilia laughed. "I knew you were going to ask for a piece so I made an extra one for us."

My face lit up immediately. "Thank you!" I hugged her.

"I'm going to take a shower."

I began to climb up the stairs when I heard a knock on the door. "Are you expecting someone?" I asked her.

"Not really." She walked to the door and opened.

"Good afternoon ma'am," I heard a familiar voice.

"Good afternoon dear. How can I help you?"

"I'm looking for Miss Ortega."

That was Mark, I rushed to the door and he handed me my duffel back. "You forgot this in the car." How did I not notice?

"Thank you very much," I told him.

"You're welcome." He said before he walked away.

"How did you forget that?" Aunt Emilia asked.

I don't know, probably because I was way too distracted thinking about Mr. MacArthur.

Philip

"I took her home sir," Mark informed me. I nodded and he left. I had headed back to the office after stopping by Mum's grave. I left the jet before she could wake up because I didn't want to face her. What happened yesterday was a big mistake and my fault and I was being a coward about it.

I put on my tux and took the elevator downstairs. I was heading home to take a shower and relax my head.

"Where to, sir?" Mark asked as soon as I got into the car.

"Home," I told him.

I relaxed into the seat and closed my eyes. My mind drifted to the kiss, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get the memory of that kiss out of my head. I wasn't that drunk so I couldn't blame it on the alcohol. That girl was distracting me way more than I expected. Hiring her was obviously a mistake.

We arrived home in no time, Mark had taken numerous shortcuts so he could beat the traffic. I saw a tall, slender figure standing on my porch and I recognized who that was. Mark parked the car in the garage and I got down to attend to my unwanted visitor.

"Hey, Philip. I was in the area so I thought I should stop by."

"Kenzie, what are you doing here?" I asked.

"I just told you," she smiled as she played with my tie. I shoved her hands away and took off the tie.

I opened the door and I got in, Kenzie followed suit. "You've been ignoring all my texts and calls," she said as she plopped down on the couch.

"I didn't see them." I took off my tux and stared blankly at her. "What do you want, Kenzie?"

She sighed and stood up to her feet. "Philip, I want you, can't you see that? Let's get back to how we used to be." She took seductive steps towards me and placed both hands on my shoulder. "I know you still want me," she smirked.

I snorted and took her hands off my shoulder. "You are wrong about that," I told her.

She put her hands back there and brought her face closer to mine

"Well, I still want you and if I can't have you, nobody will," she declared before she captured my lips. Her lips weren't as soft and plump as Zoe's. They didn't make me feel like I was in cloud nine like it did with Zoe's. Kenzie's lips were plain and boring and I wondered why I got myself involved with her in the first place. It was definitely because she was one of the hottest models in the industry and I was only trying to build my already enormous ego by asking her out on a date when I knew I wanted nothing serious with her from the start, just sex.

I broke the kiss and stepped back. "You need to leave," I told her.

"Why?" She asked. "Don't you want me anymore?"

"Look, Kenzie, what we had was fun but that's just what it was to me, fun."

Her eyes were full of venom as she glared hard at me. If looks could kill, I would be six feet beneath right now. "You're going to regret this."

"I'm pretty sure I won't," I smirked.

"You're a complete jerk, you asshole!" She spat.

"I get that a lot. Please, leave before I have Mark throw you out. You know Mark, it doesn't do things the nice way."

She grabbed her bag from the couch and glared at me. "You're not even that hot anyway and you're not that good in bed."

"That's not what it seemed like when you were screaming my name, girl," I grinned.

"You're just a sad kid who still misses his mama," she smiled.

"What the hell did you say?" I walked menacingly towards her and she stepped backward in fear before she scurried away.

"Asshole!" She spat before she opened the door.

"Please, lock the door gently. It's more expensive than your entire outfit," I said.

She gave me a final glare before she walked out.

Phew! Good riddance.

I took off my tie and went upstairs to take a shower. I got into the Jacuzzi and the water made me feel relaxed. I closed my eyes and my mind drifted to the kiss again.

"Arrgh! Zoe, why is it so hard to get you out of my head?" I groaned with my eyes as closed as an image of her appeared in my head. Maybe having sex with her would get her out of my system, but, I doubt it would.
