C6 Rebecca Is Pregnant

"Finally dropped the facade?" Glancing at her, I picked up my bag and prepared to head straight to the Juarez Ancestral Home.

It didn't matter of Ashton didn't want to go. I had to attend the funeral myself.

However, as soon as I reached the door, Rebecca held out her arm—blocking my way. As Ashton was nowhere to be seen, she obviously wasn't keeping up the act anymore. "When will you sign the divorce agreement?"

I blinked before smiling. "Are you forcing me to sign the divorce agreement? A third party shouldn't interfere in these matters."

"You're the third party!" Rebecca snapped, her face darkening even more. "I wouldn't be so arrogant if I were you. The old man's dead. No one could protect you. If I were you, I'd sign the agreement, take the money, and leave!"

"Then it's the shame you're not me!" I walked around her to go downstairs. At this point, no one could hurt me.

Rebecca gritted her teeth. She jerked me toward her. "Do you still have any shame left?" she snarled. "He doesn't like you, get over it! What's the use of staying by his side? Are you really that desperate?"

"You said that he doesn't care about me right? Then why are you so nervous about it?"

"You..." Her face became even more flushed.

"Besides, you asking me why I'd stay at his side made me think," I lowered my voice as if I was telling a secret. My eyes narrowed. "He's pretty good in bed. Why do you think?"

"Scarlett, you really are shameless!" Rebecca clenched her jaw. She raised her hands, about to push me away, when I moved to the side.

To both our surprise, she fell down the stairs.

Her scream echoed across the hall, and everything was silent.

Before I could react, a body pushed by me. Ashton. He sprinted down the stairs as if someone had possessed him. Within seconds, he was already by Rebecca's side.

The young woman writhed as she wrapped her arms around her stomach. "Baby," she gasped. "My...my baby!"

Blood spread beneath her, staining the cream carpeting. I froze. She was pregnant?

Was the baby Ashton's?

"Brother Ashton...the child..." Rebecca grabbed his sleeve, shaking uncontrollably. "My baby...my baby...there's so much blood."

Sweat trickled down his forehead. His entire face fell in concern as he stared at the woman lying under him.

"Don't be afraid. The baby will be fine. You'll be fine," he comforted, picking her up bridal star. As he was moving to the door, he turned to me.

His cold eyes were enough to freeze anyone. My entire body felt like it had just been stabbed. "Scarlett," he said. "Good job."

His voice was laced with anger.

Good job?

"Aren't you going to explain yourself?" Just then a low voice sounded behind me. I turned around to see Schaffer.

"Explain what?"

"Aren't you afraid that you'll be misunderstood? That he'll think you're the one who pushed her down the stairs?"

"It doesn't matter whether or not I pushed him." I lowered my gaze. "What matters is that he isn't hurt. In the end, someone will have to bear the responsibility."

"Hm." Schaffer didn't show any emotion as he carried his medical kit. "You really think things through.

Without another word, he followed Rebecca to the hospital.
