C5 Limited Edition

Is the limited edition fake?

Zack's comment instantly enraged Charles and Lillian.

Lillian had been quite proud of herself. She had mistakenly thought Zack's watch was a knockoff and intended to mock him with a reference to the Urgridge Restaurant, only to find out it was owned by his brother-in-law. She was mortified.

She had been ready to drop the issue, but then Zack cast doubt on Charles's watch.

This infuriated Lillian beyond measure.

He was jobless, living off his wife's money, and here he was, insinuating that Charles's watch was a counterfeit.

Lillian's anger intensified.

"Charles bought that watch abroad for tens of thousands of dollars. It's a global limited edition that money can't even buy. And you dare to question its authenticity?"

"My boyfriend drives a Jaguar and wears designer clothes. How dare you question him? Are you even in a position to do so?"

Charles adjusted his collar and dismissively gestured, "Lillian, there's no point explaining; he doesn't get it. Just ignore him."

Zack was about to respond when Juliet pulled him back, shaking her head, signaling him to drop it.

"I'm sorry, Zack spoke out of turn. I apologize on his behalf."

Juliet was her best friend. Seeing Juliet apologize, she exhaled and conceded, "Fine, Juliet has apologized, so I'll let it slide."

Charles shot Zack a look of disdain, took Lillian by the hand, and they left.

"Lillian, keep your distance from him in the future."

As they got into the car, Charles pointedly rolled down the window.

Juliet helplessly shook her head, her eyes brimming with concern as she watched Zack.

"Honey, Lillian always talks like that. Don't take it to heart."

"Don't worry about it."

Zack grinned.

He had been wealthy before and had seen more luxury items than he could count.

A mistake on his part? Impossible.

Juliet sighed, "Whether his watch is real or fake, you shouldn't have mentioned it. I know I've put you in an awkward position. Lillian can be harsh, but that's no reason to cast aspersions on her boyfriend."

"We work together and get along well. Your comments have made things awkward between us."

Seeing Juliet upset, Zack quickly softened, chuckling, "Okay, my bad. Let's not fight about it."

Juliet scrunched her nose and said, "I'm not mad, you know."

"By the way, how could you afford such an expensive watch?"

Zack, ever so clever, anticipated her question and had his response ready.

"I won it in a lottery!"

"You won a lottery?" Juliet asked, puzzled.

"Yep, I always grab a lottery ticket when I'm out shopping, and I hit the jackpot a few days ago."

"Why didn't you tell me about it?"

"I was worried that if I told you right away and the prize money didn't come through, you'd be so let down. I knew how much you liked this watch, so as soon as the money came in, I went straight out and bought it for you. Try it on!"

Zack looked at her expectantly.

With a chuckle, Juliet slipped the watch onto her delicate wrist, her face lighting up with joy.

"Honey, how much of the lottery money is left?"

"I won 140,000 yuan, and the watch cost just over 130,000 yuan, so there's not much left."

Zack, concerned Juliet might check his account, deliberately chose that figure.

But no matter how much she might try to check, she'd never find his account; none of his cards were from Lunamis.

Hearing this, Juliet's expression dimmed. "So, you're saying you spent all your money on this watch?"

"I just want to see you happy. No amount of money is too much for that."

Juliet frowned and looked down, lost in thought. After a moment, she said, "Hubby, let's return the watch. We could use the 140,000, along with my savings, to make a down payment on a house. Then we can start living our own little life."

Zack felt a surge of warmth at her words.

He understood that Juliet's desire to save for a house was to spare him from any more humiliation at home.

"Sweetheart, the watch can't be returned. The store only offers free repairs. I've bought it already; you might as well wear it. And don't worry about the house. I'm going to start working, and we'll save up together."

"You're going to work?"

Juliet's face lit up with surprise, even more thrilled than if she had won the lottery herself. She bounced up excitedly, seizing Zack's hands. "Hubby, what made you decide to start working all of a sudden?"

Zack gently tousled her hair and said, "I've been resting for three years. My body's recovered, and I'm ready to help you shoulder some of the stress. Plus, if I don't find a job in three days, Mom says she's going to make us get a divorce."

Worry flickered in Juliet's clear eyes.

"Are you sure you're okay? I'm concerned about you."

Juliet had never pressured Zack during the three years he'd been recuperating at home. He had sustained serious injuries saving her life, making him unfit for work.

Three years earlier, after a company team-building event, they had sung karaoke until well past midnight. As Juliet walked home alone on the deserted streets, she was accosted by a group of thugs who dragged her towards an alley, leaving her terrified and panic-stricken.

Thankfully, Zack heard her cries for help and swooped in like a guardian angel to rescue her, preserving her honor. Tragically, in the process, one of the ruffians plunged a knife into Zack's shoulder, causing him to bleed profusely.

Juliet rushed Zack to the hospital, but he had lost a lot of blood from the deep wound and nearly died. It was only through Juliet's timely blood transfusion that he was snatched from the jaws of death.

They truly became each other's saviors, and during his hospital stay, Juliet cared for him, their affection for each other growing with each passing day.

Zack spent a month in the hospital before he could leave, but the doctor warned that his shoulder had been gravely injured. He was vulnerable and couldn't engage in strenuous labor; he needed ample rest.

Driven by her steadfast love and a guilt she couldn't voice, Juliet overcame all obstacles to marry the hero of her heart.
