There appear to be a bunch of negative stereotypes in Chinese society. From reading their books you’d think every step mother and step sister were murderous vipers, Chinese moms are the worst mother in laws, cold emotionally unavailable men are the goal and that r ape magically turns into love. It’s pretty weird honestly. I just chalk it up to bad romance novel tropes… Makes me think there’s some pretty profound misogyny in the society.
