C4 Four

"Nonna!" Jake exclaimed in panic and then felt Barbara's carotids. Instantly, his pupils dilated to think that there was no pulse there. "Nonna! Get up!"

Feeling her conscience called, Anna ran towards the exotic man, leaving her group alone. She knelt and said, "Hey, I'm nurse Anna. I can help!"

"Please, please," Jake said worriedly, not wanting anything to happen to Barbara. "Tolong, Nonna, Tadinya dia baik-baik saja!"

(Please, my Nonna. She was okay earlier)

Anna was stunned momentarily to find out that the man she thought was a foreigner was fluent in Indonesian. It was different from the Western accent she had heard earlier. From here she could see the shape of the face that framed this strange man. Was that voice that suggested the Brix test? Anna thought doubtfully.

Ah! She brushed aside the unimportant question and put aside her admiration for the handsome man in front of her.

Anna put her hand on Barbara's shoulder to check her response when she found someone fainted. She called Nonna as the man in front of her shouted, but there was no response. Anna looked down to check whether the older woman was still breathing. No breath, no pulse. Her eyes bulged, then she looked up at the man wearing glasses and shouted, "Call 112!"

Jake shook his head, took out his cell phone, and called the emergency number. He glanced at Anna, who was unbuttoning Barbara's polka-dot shirt and unhooking the skirt Barbara was wearing. At the same time, the others turned their backs while providing privacy. Anna positioned herself to massage the heart while listening to Jake's deep voice asking for ambulance help and explaining the details of the address.

"Tell them to bring an AED," interrupted Anna. "It looks like a heart attack."

Jake's face grew paler at Anna's suspicion. He asked the telephone recipient to bring the cardiac shock device and cut off the communication connection. "They'll be here in five minutes," Jake said. "How can I help you?"

"Can you do CPR, sir?" Anna asked. "I brought my medical equipment in my bag; we can take turns later. If not--"

"I can," Jake interrupted, positioning himself face to face with Anna when the girl shouted,

"Switch!"

Anna opened her rattan sling bag and took out the pocket ambu bag she always carried everywhere. She was skilled at dismantling and connecting the Ambu bag, putting the mask over Barbara's nose and mouth, and pressing case someone suddenly fainted and needed help. Her hands were skilled at dismantling and connecting the Ambu bag, putting the mask over Barbara's nose and mouth, and pressing the balloon slowly.

"Does Nonna have a history of heart disease?" Anna asked, trying to be as calm as possible.

"No. I don't remember having one." Jake continued to pump Barbara's chest.

"Has she had complaints in her chest for the past few days that spread to her back? Chest pain? Sweating or passing out when walking?" Anna asked to make sure that the patient fainted, not because of an acute attack. Often, she finds people suddenly lying down, and after further investigation, it turns out they have had heart problems for a long time.

"I'm not sure. But, these past few days, Nonna admitted that she was often tired."

Before Anna could respond, the ambulance sirens sounded deafening and blaring like a glimmer of hope appearing in the abyss of despair. The corners of Anna's lips turned up in relief when three medical officers in red uniforms with a red cross logo came carrying a gurney and approached their patient.

"How long?" asked one of the officers who immediately took Jake's place.

"About five to ten minutes," answered Anna. "The patient's family said there was no history of heart disease, but she was often tired. I'm guessing it might have something to do with a heart attack or could be hypoglycemia. Did you bring a portable AED?"

"Mbok--"

(Miss)

"I'm a nurse. We don't have much time, Bli," said Anna, so the officer immediately gave her an electric shock device that could be carried anywhere. "Can you replace me here?" she asked.

"Okay." The man wearing glasses, whose body is relatively short, took a portable AED from his emergency bag. Anna immediately received the object in the not-too-large black box while she changed position to be the officer pumping the Ambu bag balloon. Racing against time, Anna opened the AED bag and took out a kind of wide pad containing electrodes. She attached the pad to the upper right side of Barbara's chest and the other side to the lower left side of her chest.

"Clear!" Anna ordered not to touch the patient's body.

The AED machine analysed it quickly and informed her that Barbara needed an electric shock. The machine automatically gives a shock and asks the officer to continue the heart massage again. Before long, Barbara's eyebrows moved, the consciousness that had been lost gradually returned, and the machine ordered to stop CPR.

Jake's heart would almost stop beating if something dangerous happened to his grandmother. They breathed a sigh of relief, and then the officer checked Barbara's pupil reaction and asked her,

"What's your name, Madam?"

"Barbara," Barbara answered hoarsely, groaning.

"Bli, can you direct this grandmother to the International Hospital?" Anna asked as the officers moved

Barbara to the gurney. "I used to work there, and the hospital is the closest to here. I can come with you."

"Okay, Mbok," said the officer.

Anna shook her head and then turned to Jake. "We will take him to IHC. You don't need to worry."

She patted Jake's arm and ran into the ambulance after the o.

###

Jake paced back and forth, waiting without certainty about Barbara's condition. The pounding in his chest would not have been able to beat usually if the doctor treating his grandmother had not come out of the operating room. He was terrified that something would happen that would threaten Barbara's life. But, said the woman who introduced herself as Anna, his grandmother, would be fine considering that after the first ai, Barbara regained consciousness.

Jake's dark grey eyes glanced at the shoulder-length-haired girl sitting in the waiting room chair. She looked so calm. Instead, she sipped a bottle of cold cola and ate a chocolate bar. It was a strange habit for Jake to find a woman like Anna. He wondered to himself, was that girl a nurse? If true, don't they understand that excessive cola and chocolate consumption can drastically increase sugar levels?

Weird girl!

Despite the madness that greeted him, Jake had to admit that if it weren't for Anna, Barbara might have been beyond help. He knew how to give a heart massage, but the speculation of a heart attack never really crossed his mind. So far, Jake understands the lifestyle of his extended family, including his grandmother, both in Indonesia and Italy.

Even though she is not a vegetarian, Barbara always maintains her diet and actively walks as a substitute for strenuous exercise. Was this all because Barbara was overthinking about the problems in Tuscany? Not long after, the ER doctor who treated Barbara came out of room P1 - the emergency room.

Jake immediately walked quickly, followed by Anna from behind, approaching a middle-aged female doctor with red lipstick who gave him a friendly smile.

"How is her condition? Is she okay? Her heart? Is there a problem with that?" Jake asked without pause. The pounding in his chest grew stronger until it caused excruciating pain. His hands were shaking, really worried that Barbara's illness would affect the older woman's quality of life. Jake had never seen his grandmother lying weak like this in all her life except for being dizzy from lack of sleep.

"Unfortunately, it's true. Your grandmother's heart records show acute myocardial disorders or what we call coronary heart disease. This is the first indication, and other symptoms could arise, so we need further examination to determine the damage's extent," explained the doctor. "Maybe your grandmother will have to be hospitalised for a few days while we give her medicine via injection or oral."

"But, will she be okay, Doc?" Jake asked still dissatisfied with the doctor's answer.

"Fortunately, the patient was immediately taken to hospital to be treated more quickly. I think your grandmother will gradually improve as long as she can rest and not overthink," explained the doctor. "Did the patient often think about something serious before?"

Jake glanced at Anna for a moment and met each other's gazes before he finally nodded. "There are problems, and she is a thinker. She always tries to solve everything herself."

"Then my advice is to help your grandmother to relax more. Old people like her sometimes feel lonely and need someone to talk to," said the doctor. "Okay, then we will move your grandmother to the treatment room. I've got to go."

"Thank you," Jake whispered, sending the doctor away. "Ah, Nonna... she must be thinking about the tourists," he grumbled irritably.

"Tourist?" Anna raised an eyebrow.

Who's he? she thought.

"Hey, miss," Jake stretched out his right hand. "I haven't had time to thank you..."

"Anna Asmita," interrupted Anna, feeling that the man in front of her suddenly had amnesia.

"Anna," Jake said, repeating the girl's name. "I'm Jake Batara Luciano. Once again, thank you, Anna."

"No problem, Sir, uhm ... Jake..." Anna chuckled, confused about what to call the man who turned out to have seductive dark grey irises.

Wait! Why does his body shape look like the characteristics of the back?

"Just Jake. You make me look old," joked Jake, trying to lighten the mood after the tension with Barbara.

"So, you're a nurse, aren't you?"

"Yes. But I'm on leave from work," said Anna. "A job that makes people crazy."

"All work seems like that," said Jake, pulling the corners of his lips upwards.

Without realising it, Anna immortalised the look on Jake's face in her memory, a Caucasian man who was genuinely fluent in Indonesian. Not only was he fluent, but his accent immediately changed 360 degrees from a Western accent to a thick Balinese accent. Besides that, Jake's face is truly a masterpiece that is beyond beautiful. Is he the incarnation of Apollo, who is said to be the most handsome god in Greece?

If it were like this, she would have to withdraw all her words and swear words if she was no longer interested in a top-level, sexy man like Jake. It is genuinely praiseworthy for God to have created a perfect human like him, thought Anna blushing.

"Sorry, Anna, I have to call someone. Can you wait here? I'm worried the nurse or doctor is looking for me while I'm not there," Jake asked hopefully.

Anna shook her head quickly while smiling broadly. "Yes. Besides, my motorbike is still in Lagom, okay... I hope I won't be fined for parking too long."

Jake didn't respond to Anna's words, turning around when the voice of Noah - one of Barbara's bodyguards - called him. The man walked some distance and whispered unintelligible words.

Wait!

Anna tilted her head, her eyebrows furrowed in a familiar curly pattern on her forehead. There was something strange about Jake's broad back, broad shoulders, and muscular biceps. Anna's eyes shifted to Jake's slightly messy jet-black curls.

As is Italian custom, Jake is seen brushing his hair while occasionally rubbing his chin and moving his hands. Anna's gaze fell again to the curve of her waist and stopped at Jake's firm and round buttocks. It was so dense that Anna imagined that the buttocks were like two mounds of cake stuck together.

How come he looks like Shanon's dream guy?

Increasingly overwhelmed with curiosity, Anna took out her cell phone and tried to compare the figure of JL001, which she deliberately followed under Shanon's coercion. Anna aligned her device and Jake's body from a distance because she knew how the curly man stood with one arm bent at his waist. The back did the same thing in one of the photos during the marathon event in Kuta.

"Same," muttered Anna, taking down another photo at the same time as Jake had his hair straightened again like JL001 in one of the photos when attending the Lagom product launch. "Same here. Could it be..."

"See? He's just showing off the view, a damn hot back shot, and curls that I'd love to run my fingers through if I had the chance to ONS."

"He's nicknamed the Sexyback, back man, or sexy ass. His butt, Anna, you can see how dense it is under those trousers."

"He lives in Bali."

"Oh... Mr. Jake, yes, he comes here often."

Anna's reflexes gaped wide, almost making a sound similar to a scream knowing that Jake was the back man - the owner of Faith's seductive ass. He turned his head, hoping his surprise wouldn't cause any noise. Indeed, Anna's legs suddenly went limp in a matter of seconds, completely unaware that the man Shanon dreamed of was right in front of her eyes.

After finishing the conversation with Noah, the man turned around, slipped his cell phone,e and approached Anna. He frowned when he saw the rescue girl's face was pale.

"What's wrong with you?"

Anna covered her mouth, still amazed at how she had met such an unexpected man. Anna's eyeballs felt like they would roll out and hide behind a potted plant. Meanwhile, her heartbeat was exploding like fireworks on New Year's Eve.

Did Jake hear the pounding of her chest to look at her like that?

Is this what is called a once-in-a-lifetime jackpot?

Anna's mind was jumping up and down with joy. It may sound excessive, but who can ignore the dark grey irises that are sharp and shady at the same time? Who can avoid the beautiful view where a well-defined, well-sculpted jaw frames Jake's appearance, accompanied by thin, sensual lips and a double chin? Who? Who can avoid the deep voice that can be called to sleep every night? Even crazy people can't resist the charm of the back man.

"Anna?"

Oh my, his voice!

"So you're the back guy?"

Anna pointed out, launching the stupidest question in her head, causing a deep frown on Jake's forehead. Shanon will have a nosebleed if she meets Sexyback!
