C8 Another Secret Revealed

“Your uncle is after you, I really can’t say what plans he has for you but I am so sure that they aren’t good plans. I have known your uncle when I and your dad were still in the early stage of our relationship” she told him.

They were back at Cade’s home and Michelle excused them to go prepare something so that they can both talk about what needed to be talked about.

Lexi had seemed hesitant on talking to him about it but he gave her some time to think before she began opening up about his supposed uncle whom he knew nothing about.

“How about my dad? Where is he? Is he aware of his brother’s plan towards me, his son?” he asked and Lexi sighed.

“Your dad passed away a long time ago and it has been so hard for me because I really loved him and I had to learn to let go of most things due to your uncle’s deeds. There is nothing I can do to stop whatever he is doing”

“You can always report him for trespassing and threats” he suggests and just then Michelle came to the living room with two glasses of juice in a try for them both “Thanks babe” he smiled and she returned it before heading back to the kitchen.

“I tried multiple times but he always had his way since he is quite on the influential side so its easier for him to escape his doings. I really can’t say what exactly he is doing but I am aware that they aren’t good” she told him.

“Why would he want me? Like I did nothing, am just a child who is clueless about all of these” he shrugs and took a sip from his glass. “I need a hint and maybe I can redeem myself from whatever is the reason. I have a lot to live for, I have a family back home to return to when the time is right, a girlfriend to love and take care of and a job I am gradually loving” he tells her.

“That I can’t explain also but I am aware about his greedy hunger for more power and wealth, I think that’s where you come in, am not too sure” she says to him and he frowned.

“You think he wants to hand them over to me legally then kill me and take all of it?” she shrugged and he sighed.

“If that’s the case, I don’t really care about properties of worth, I am not looking forward to any of those so he can have them all to himself without the need of using me. I even left my very wealthy and comfortable home to start a new life as a commoner, someone who just wants to get by the day” he sighed then buried his face in his palm.

“I still don’t know his real plans but I have this big hunch that it will be a disaster” she looked at him and closed her eyes before opening them and drinking half content of her juice. “That’s why I am telling you to leave” she tells him and Cade can’t believe what his ears managed to contain now.

“Now, someone who I probably know nothing about is on my tail due to his selfish reasons?” he asked and she nods.

“Well, we shouldn’t worry too much on that now that you have come to such knowledge, you can leave and no one will have to be hurt in any way” she said after a moment of silence.

“Seeing as how you described him, you have had a near death experience caused by him”

“Let’s not even get started there” she laughed then finished the rest of her juice.

They sat there in silence just looking at the ceiling and would glance at each other once in a while as they hear Michelle’s movement in the kitchen.

“So, he was the one responsible for my dad’s death?”

“That I can’t confirm but I feel like he was… your dad died a very slow but painful death.”

He sat up then faced her.

“Tell me about my dad… I want to know something about him, did he leave when you were pregnant with me? Was he a great man? Was he a loving man? I want to know… his looks and all those details, tell me,” he asked and she sighed then smiled.

She closed her eyes then sat up properly and faced him before opening them.

“Hank was a very, very kind, loving, passionate man… he expressed how he felt about things through actions, he was quite the sensitive type… he expresses himself in ways I have never seen anyone do” she chuckled lightly “Such a great and humble man” she began then looked down as a frown crease her forehead.

“He left but not by his choice, he was taken away and it was very painful to see him die slowly” she blinked several times “You have his hair and built, you just have my smile and eyes… you’re a great reminder of him by just looking at you” she said.

“One major reason to want me far away” he comments dryly.

“I just want you to be safe and sound… I don’t think I want to watch my only family die in the hands of that evil man” she looked at him then touched his face “You are the only family I have and I don’t want to lose you… I have lost almost everything in my life so losing you will be the biggest blow”

“I think I understand that” he wrapped his palm around her hand that held his face and closed his eyes “Just tell me this one thing” letting out a deep breath, he opened his eyes and looked straight at his mum.

‘It now or never Cade!’

“Was I a mistake? Did you ever want me in your life? Have you ever missed me all these years?” he asked and a tear slipped out of her eyes as she looks at him with so much joy.

This was the first time he is seeing her this emotional, she looked like the one to keep it all in and cool no matter the situation but this time she couldn’t hold it back in.

“I have always imagined everything being different and you were still in my care and your dad was still alive. We would have been one big, beautiful, happy family” she tells him and he let out the breath he didn’t know he held.

“Okay, that’s good to know Lexi… or I can call you mum?” he asked and she chuckled.

“Only this one time, I don’t want you calling me that outside. I still fear for your life” she said and he nods.

“I understand, I’ll just stick with Lexi then” he said and she nods then looked away.

“Hi mum,” Dimitri greets as his mum welcomed him in.

He wasn’t having any classes today but Aiden and Caleb are so he decides to head over to his mum’s place to chill for the day but he called first to be sure he won’t meet them in a compromising situation or better still they not being at home.

“Hey dear, how are you?” they walked in and went straight to the kitchen as Dimitri ransacked the kitchen to eat some quick food “Let me guess, you are hungry” she didn’t ask but just smiled.

“Famished, I want to add the extra effect. No quick food?” he asked and turned to look at his mum but she just shrugged which made him grunt in disapproval. “Oh, come on mum… you have a hungry baby boy situation here” he sat on one of the kitchen stools and lay his head on the counter.

Patricia knew that he was just acting that part well so that she can take pity on him and make him some food.

“Don’t baby now son, I was about to prepare some food for myself and your dad” she went over to bring out what she would need for the preparation.

“Dad is home?” he asked and she shook her head ‘no’.

“Nope, he is back at the office to over look some matters since Cade isn’t here now. I will bring him the food”

“Hmm, okay. Cade do call you frequently?” he asked and she turned to him then sighed.

He could see how sad she felt and wanted to walk up to her when she spoke up.

“He does, sometimes though. It’s just that I am so worried for him and I have the hunch that something will go wrong but I don’t know what, that’s what scares me. I want him to come home in no time, I just don’t have a good feeling about his absence” she tells him.

Dimitri leans over the counter and reached out for his mum’s hand then played with them. “I believe Cade wouldn’t be stupid enough to let us worry about him. Him leaving was uncalled for but I am sure that he is okay wherever he is” he assured her and she nods.

“I hope so son, I do. I am just hoping you don’t think about leaving after college?” she raised a brow and he leans back from the counter then scratched the back of his head.

“The Lorenzo boys don’t have many lucky streaks left?” he asked and she rolled her eyes.

“Help me chop those chicken in cubes, please” she pushed the frozen chicken his way along with a chopping board and knife “Be careful, those knives are super sharp” she warned.

“Sure ma’am” he salutes and she shook her head.

They helped each other in the cooking and cleaning at the same time and would talk here and there, so after a while a thought came through Dimitri’s mind and he decides to tell his mum before he forgets again.

“Mum, I have something that I wanted to tell you and dad” he said and she looked up at him from stirring the already cooked rice that they let to steam minutes ago before looking back.

“What is that honey?” she asked.

“I want to get married” he said and she stopped turning then paused before looking up at him again. “Not now though, maybe when I am done with uni” he tells her when he saw how she reacted to his news.

“Daniella, right?” she asked.

“Yes mum, she is the only woman I love. I have the right already but I haven’t proposed yet, I will when the time is right, I just want to get you both blessings before I proceed” he told her and she sighed.

“Have you thought things through? Like your decision? Have you thought about it thoroughly?” she continued what she was doing while awaiting his answer.

Dimitri didn’t say anything for a while and she looked up to see his brows furrowed in thought.

“You’re okay?” she asked and it snapped him out of his reverie then he looked at her then shrugged.

“When I told Cade about it, also tole me something like that. I could understand that for one, he worries about me and for the other he isn’t in the best place with Daniella but I want to ask something mum”

“What would that be son?” she stopped what she was doing.

“Do you like Daniella?”

“I just don’t really trust her but she makes you happy so I really can’t do anything to about it. My both sons happiness are my priority whether I like their girl or not” she smiled.

“Why don’t you trust her?” he asked with his brows furrowed and his arms crossed.

“I really can’t explain that Dimitri, I just don’t have a good feeling about her. There is something about her that I can’t say but I know its not that good, I just don’t want you to feel bad that we don’t support your decisions” she told him.

“I love her a lot. She’s special and I am sure about that, so you have nothing to worry about mum” he tells her.

“Just think things through and make the right decision, whatever it is, I and your dad will support you. Even Cade would” she smiled and he returned it.

“Thanks mum, I think the chicken is baked already” he said.

“I’ll take it out then, set the plates so we can eat before I head for your dad’s office”

“Okay mum, it smells so good” he grinned and licked his lips.

“Sure, it has to and thank you”
