C18 He Bit Her!
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything by it."
"No worries, after all, what you said is true." Yeming replied calmly. He was indeed composed, showing no signs of anger at being called a monster. However, the woman sitting across from him was anything but calm; she was visibly uneasy.
Zaozao stood up, staring intently at the serene Yeming. "I don't believe it. What I said earlier about souls and spirits was just a joke. You're joking with me too, right?"
Yeming's face remained smiling as he slowly stood up and walked over to Zaozao. Without saying a word, he wrapped one arm around her waist and gently held the back of her neck with the other, resting his head on her shoulder in one fluid motion.
In an instant, Zaozao felt a sharp pain in her neck, as if teeth had pierced her skin. The sensation of her blood rushing backward from that night returned.
Zaozao was unable to think, as if she had fallen into a haze. Was she still alive? After a moment, Yeming released her. He knew that the woman in his arms was likely overwhelmed with turmoil, but she needed to know the truth sooner or later. It was better for her to learn to accept it now.
Di Yeming reached out to touch the spot he had just bitten. The skin had already returned to its smooth state. Because they were so close, he could clearly feel Chi Zaozao's heart pounding, indicating she was genuinely startled.
After waiting for about fifteen minutes, they embraced for another fifteen.
Yeming patted Zaozao's shoulder and asked, "Were you scared?"
"Hmph, now I know why you gave me milk. Was it to boost my nutrition just for your sake? I thought you were being generous."
"Haha..."
I have to admit, Zaozao's ability to adapt is quite impressive. Even though this situation was beyond her usual comfort zone, she didn't react with panic at Yeming's actions. Yeming found himself increasingly satisfied with the woman in front of him.
With her blood, he could safely get through this, and her contribution was significant.
"Thanks for sparing me," Zaozao said as she pulled away from Yeming's embrace, rubbing her arm where he had touched her.
"Except for the first night when I lost control a bit, I promise I won't hurt you again."
"What?" Zaozao exclaimed loudly, "There's going to be a next time?"
"Every month on the 15th, I need your blood."
"Is that your condition?" Chi Zaozao asked.
"Yes," Yeming replied promptly. "I underestimated you. Now it seems my choice was right. I only need you once a month. The rest of the time, I won't bother you, so don't worry about that."
"And how long will this last?" Zaozao inquired.
"I'm not sure, until I find someone more suitable," Yeming said. This was more of a stalling tactic, as he wasn't certain he would find anyone whose blood suited him better than Zaozao's.
"Of course, aside from my promise to return the Chi family business to you, if you have any other requests, feel free to ask. I'll do my best to accommodate them," Yeming assured.
