C4

Alex shook his head. “Anyway, regardless I still need it sparkling clean.” Kim just nodded her head in answer. She followed him quietly as he left the kitchen. Alex walked her to the guest room. Even though he almost never had a need for it, he still needed it clean always. He didn't waste much time in the guest room. Finally, he made his way to his room. He paused before opening the door.

“This is my room.”

“Right Sir,” Kim replied rolling her eyes.

“Did you just roll your eyes at me?” Alex asked baffled. Kim feigned innocence, “no I didn't.”

“I’m going to pretend I didn't see that.” “Yes Sir.”

Alex opened the door to his room. He ushered her in before entering inside.

“You’re only allowed to clean here when I’m around. I don’t want you messing around here in my absence. Anything goes missing or bad, you won’t only be jobless but would end up in jail too. Got it?”

Kim just nodded her head, surprised.

“That’s about it then, get started,” Alex said walking out not allowing her to say anything. Kim stood for a few seconds not knowing what to do. She ran after him and saw him already on the couch lying down, a magazine in his hands.

She cleared her throat trying to get his attention.

“What is it Kimberly?” Alex asked without looking up. “What am I suppose to use Sir?”

Alex dropped the magazine and stared at her. “And you say you’re from a cleaning agency?”

“You asked me not to use ‘cheap things’ in your house remember?”

Alex stood up infuriated. He took a step towards her. “I know what I said little miss know-it-all, you don’t have to remind me.”

Kim gulped but still maintained eye contact with him. He scoffed at her audacity. He took another step towards her. “How much do you need this job?”

Kim blinked confused. “What?”

“Since you’re too dumb to understand, Kimberley, do you need this job?”

“If I didn't want this job, I wouldn't be here,” Kim said squaring her shoulders. “Sir”, she quickly added seeing the cold stare he was giving her. “What did I tell you about smart mouths?”

“You hate people with smart mouths,” Kim echoed. “Do you want to get fired Kimberley?”

“No Sir,” she said.

Alex smirked. “I thought as much. Now get to work.”

“Sir”. Kim called out to his retreating back. He stopped without turning around.

“What is it? ”

“The cleaning tools Sir.”

“They’re in the fucking storage room Kimberley.” “Where is the storage room Sir?”

Alex blew out an angry breath. Stepping back he grabbed her by the elbow and lead her to the storage closet.

“Ow,” she said rubbing her arm. “That was not necessary Sir.” “It wasn't,” he admitted. “Anything else Kimberley?”

“No Sir,” she breathed.

He left her there and went back to his magazine. She rolled her eyes when she saw the automatic vacuum cleaner.

“So why the hell does he need a cleaner?” She murmured.

She took out the vacuum cleaner and started work immediately. She started from the guest room. She folded her hands and watched as the machine did her work for her. If this was what her job was, she wouldn't mind putting up with him. Afterwards, she was done with the guest room and his room, making sure to clean off any iota of dust anywhere. In her defense, she didn't really see a need for all the cleaning.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Alex angry voice rang out.

Kim almost jumped out of her skin in terror. “You scared me?” She screamed clamping her chest.

“I’ll ask again, what the hell do you think you’re doing?” “I’m cleaning, like you wanted.” She answered confused. “What happened to the brush and broom?”

Kim just hung her mouth open. “Huh?”

Alex stood up for the umpteenth time to meet her. This time around he made sure she was backed up at the wall.

“I’m not paying you to lazy about.”

“You said cheap things weren't allowed in your house, and trust me the broom is damn cheap. Good news is, the machine isn’t.”

Alex ran a hand through his hair in anger. That was it. “I’m going to leave for work, by the time I get back here, this place should be cleaned up. By hand I mean like hell she was going to use the broom. “I have Cctv in here, unless you want to be fired, you’ll have to do as I say.”

Kim stomped her foot in frustration. She felt like just strangling his neck and dumping his body in his bullshit. Muttering incoherent words, she started the work again this time with a broom. By the time she had finished, she probably murdered him like twenty times. She hated him already.

"You’re late Kim,” her younger sister Tessa said as she walked in. “Yeah, sorry I am. Have you had dinner yet?”

“No, was waiting for you.”

“You shouldn't have Tessa”, Kim said, dropping her bag on the couch. “Wasn't really hungry so relax”, Tessa assured. “Why do you look so exhausted anyway?”

Kim groaned, “Don’t remind me Tess.”

Tessa smiled apologetically, “work as usual huh.” “It’s more like the devil’s incarnate.”

Tessa rubbed her hands together in anticipation. “Usually when they refer to a guy as the devil’s incarnate, the guy is always handsome, like the movie Lucifer. So tell me about him.”

Kim rolled her eyes. “You watch nonsense Tess. And for your information, you would be disappointed trust me.”

“Then why is there a smile on your face?”

“B-because,” She stuttered, making Tessa wring her brows suggestively. “Ugh Tessa.”

“Just spill already sis,” Tessa said impatiently.

Kim stretched on the couch, already giving in to her sister’s demands. “Well he’s really good looking I must confess.”

Tessa squeaked startling Kim. “I knew I could tell from the smile on your face.”

“I appreciate good things Tessa. I’m not some stuck up bitch.” “No one said anything about you being one,” Tessa said.

“Anyway,” Kim continued, “his looks are the only good thing about him.” “Don’t tell me he’s those rich, good looking, arrogant guys”.

“Tessa! You read too much of romance novels and it is unhealthy.”

“It has nothing to do with novels. That’s the whole package. No rich handsome guy is nice.”

“Mr. Sam is nice Tess,” Kim objected.

Tessa rolled her eyes. “Dude, that man is like 60 or something. Of course he has to be nice.”

Kim just shook her head at her sister’s reasoning. She hated rude people who thought the world revolved around them.

“Kim I’m waiting.”

“There’s absolutely nothing for me to tell you.” “Nothing about your day huh?”

“Geez Tess, the guy is so annoying,” Kim said frustrated at her sister. “Do you know the first thing he told me when I got there?” Kim asked but didn't wait for Tessa to answer. “He said he didn't want cheap things in his house and he was legit telling me about my cleaning equipments.”

Tessa burst out laughing, but got the dirty look from Kim. “It isn’t funny Tessa. I was damn embarrassed.”

“In his defense, he wasn’t totally wrong if you ask me.” “Still doesn't give him the reason to insult me.”

Tessa raised her hands in fake surrender. “Definitely doesn't.”
