C4 Episode Four

The Uber driver dropped me directly at the front gate of the Greg Tech Company. I alighted and stared at the huge signature building that stood out on the Brooklyn Street of Chicago, proud and tall. Befitting of the multicultural city filled with souls who want to make lives better for themselves. It emitted the aura of being owned by a billionaire. Every cyber security specialists dream was to be hired by Greg Tech. She would have given anything to be a part of this company when she first started, but having dreams that don’t come true no matter how much we tried is the push nature gives to encourage one to give up. So, I stopped dreaming.

After many years of applying and being sidelined, I had to go under the radar as a freelancer. What better way to use my skills than for people who actually valued it?. It was insignificant at first, I was underpriced and if I haggled prices, I was sidelined. I had to find a way to make a living without depending on anyone, so I sought paid groups where employees came to scout for freelance ethical and unethical hackers. That enabled me build my CV and have a life for myself.

I sighed, I should better stop staring like a silly hometown girl In Chicago for the first time, not like Chicago can be compared to New York. I moved forward and I bumped into something hard, feline and definitely masculine. Oh no, whoever it was, was so huge I couldn’t see his shoulders without looking up, my head rested on his chest, the heart area precisely.

I looked up to meet turquoise irises swirling like a peaceful sea. His masculine scent rushed in swiftly through my nose and I couldn’t help but lean my face a little forward to take it in. Man smelt beautiful, all handsome with macho aura.

He used his index finger to push my forehead back. “What are you doing right now?” His bass filtered through my brain and the only response my body could elicit was to squirm from voice orgasm with sticky water pooling between my legs. Oh no! Composure Alexandria.

“I’m sorry, I was carried away momentarily with my thoughts.” I said while looking up into his eyes to capture the image for future ogling. Our eyes locked briefly and he just crossed to the other side and went towards the midnight black shiny Cadillac XTS. Humph! Companies owned by billionaires employ workers who fit into their profile. So much for skill dependent recruitment.

I walked into the reception office and a petite young lady sat with the confidence bequeathing a receptionist of Greg Tech. She had wild red hair and green catty eyes that looked like she’d want to have her boss in other positions aside work related issue. I introduced myself and my mission and asked me to sit and wait. 10 minutes later, exactly at 8a.m, a tall man with his body muscles well outlined in a blue suit came and asked me to follow him. Uh-huh, women who work here are in trouble. A lot of deep testosterone aura in the air.

We walked into a secluded tech room filled with high branded computers of high quality. Acer Aspire TC-865-UR14 desktops were the least quality of all computers lined up in the room. Behind the stack of computers, was a library of software packages each arranged according to their functions. My heart beat increased at the thought of touching them all, feeling them, using them. Every Tech World citizens dream office.

“Good morning, Miss Alexandria Miller. My name is Alvan Smith. It’s really nice to meet you. You have an impressive educational details with astonishing experience profile.”

I snorted in my head. Yes, that’s why you rejected my applications over and over in the past.

“ We are looking forward to having a unique experience with your skills. Before we go over the details of the malware, as earlier stated, you’ll have to sign a contract. Most important details of the software should not made known and you’re accountable to damage charges if the details are leaked through you. Trust me, we can always trace origin of a leak.”

Yes, my little devil reared her head and smirked. That’s exactly why you’ve not been able to trace the intruder who infected your system.

“Thank you Mr. Alvan. I’ll sign the contract as long as there’s no infringement on my rights as a person included. Please bring the contract.” This one is for Shalom. Big companies don’t deserve me. That’s the devil in me speaking.

Mr. Alvan brought the contract and I read through it and signed. Only silly thing included is about not disclosing the type and cause of the malware. Well, I don’t have a tech friend. That won’t be a problem.

Next, he brought documentaries left by their professional about the nature of the attack on the software. My heart skipped, It was a bad malware. The most dangerous of them, Ransomware. Now, I totally understand why they don’t want this to be made public. A virus encrypt data and lock the owners out while having full domain control. If this ever got out, Greg Tech stock will fall drastically rendering millions of people jobless.

I followed the detailed explanation of previous hackers. The malware was already in full domain control of the financial data of the Greg Tech. It designed a fake alert and sent out to employees as messages, sent a fake alert to original account, created undisputable bank proof of transaction then end up cornering the real money through a back door. A lot of employees were outranged and were waiting for the perfect time to call Greg Tech out for scamming their hardworking personnel. This was a sure ticket to bankruptcy and distrust.

The major rising problem as written by the previous hackers who couldn’t crack through the malware, was that the attack was specified and targeted majorly on the major accounts holding billions of dollars paid to workers. The malware had enveloped the account such that money cannot be moved out of the account.

Smart work.

I wish I could meet the person who crafted this masterpiece and dared to install it in a global company. She deserves a tech crown for this bravery and competence. Yes, she’s a she. ‘Shes’ are smarter. Unfortunately for her, there are people who were masters to the game of craft, way before they took their first breath in the surface of the earth. I am such master, I am Alexandria.
