C6 Her Stepsister as Luna?

~

Xavier slammed his fists on the table, glaring with utmost hostility, at his rebellious beta, concluding Lucius was saying things to push him to the edge.

'Cut it out! I've had enough of your gibberish!'

Lucius let out a short, mirthless laughter. 'Gibberish?' he rhetorically questioned, slurping more of his coffee. 'Soon, you would find out how much this 'Gibberish' is going to affect you and the entire pack.. The rogue wolf is on rampage and it seems as though you have something that belongs to it'

Xavier slouched back into his chair, face turned upward. 'Why must I believe you? You've proven to be a mischievous brat. Moreover, if it were really here. The pack guards must have caught its scent, hunt it down and kill it!'

Lucius exhaled loudly, a mock pity spiking his features. 'It's no News that scents can be covered. Is it?'

Their conversation was disrupted when one of the maids surfaced into the office.

'Alpha. Your Luna has arrived.' she announced, both palms placed on her thighs, head politely bowed.

Silence ensued for a while as Lucius and Xavier shared heated glares.

'Tell her to settle down. Make her feel comfortable. Have the new maid attend to her.' Xavier ordered, his eyes not leaving Lucius face. If there was one thing he regretted doing at that moment, it would be turning Lucius into his beta.

The maid cocked her head. 'Diane?'.

'Is there some other new maid?'

'No but she's inexperienced and most hated. There's a guarantee the Luna won't like her either.'

'I didn't ask you any of this. I gave an order and I expect it to be respected!' he growled.

'Yes, Alpha!' The maid whimpered, obviously afraid of getting on Xavier's wrong side.

'Then do the needful!'

Lucius watched with a malicious grin as she scurried out of the office then turned his attention back to Xavier.

'Seems I'm right about how much you hate your destined mate' he snickered.. 'You should try to treat Poor Diane nice too. It's not her fault that the moon goddess paired you together!'

Xavier charged at him again, grabbing Lucius by his shirt collar and forcing him out of his chair. 'You caused this mess, Lucius. It would only help if you keep your running mouth shut and go back to wandering around' Xavier shot back in annoyance.

'I'm concerned for you.. you. m.. might en...d up regret... ting not doing so in later y...ears' Lucius managed to choke out his words.

With one swift movement, Xavier sent him flying on the floor. 'Leave my office. I don't want to see you!'

He scrambled to his feet, dusted off his pants, readjusted his shirt collar before leaving the office without one last backward glance.

Diane was still busy crying her heart out when an unexpected knock landed on the room door. Whoever that was, Diane was certain it wasn't any of the maids. They were off to do their menial jobs and wouldn't be back till evening. The knock came again, louder this time, accompanied by a feminine voice.

'Diane. The Alpha sent me to relay a message'

At the words, Diane wiped her tears off, rushed outside her room to meet with whoever was sent to her..

Once outside, she came face to face with a stern, displeased woman who at a point, had also bullied her spitefully.

'The Alpha's Luna has arrived. You're required to tend to her needs for the next two days till the ceremony takes place. Make sure you do whatever to please her. One complain from her about your services, you'll have to suffer the repercussions.' she blurted.

Diane rubbed her sweaty palms apprehensively, squeezed her eyes shut and rushed her question. 'Is that the Alpha's message to me?'

'Of course. It is'

Tears started to find its way back to Diane's optic nerves.. He was intentionally doing this to hurt her... It was the only reasonable explanation she had for all of this.

'I'll lead you to the Luna's abode. Follow me'. The maid authorized.

Diane bit back her tears as she did so, taking reluctant steps behind the maidservant. After what seemed like forever, they arrived at the Luna's room. Its environment was enticing, clean and beautiful. The room itself spacious, decorated with colorful bouquet of flowers. This is rightfully hers. It is one of the privileges she, as the Alpha's Luna should be entitled to.. Diane was still appreciating the aesthetically pleasing view when her gaze fell on her step sister's.. Hailey Crooks...

The idea of Hailey taking her place as the Luna to her own mate made her feel somewhat irritated and angry. And the triumphant look Hailey wore made Diane want to punch it out of her face.

'Lunatic' her wolf berated and Diane couldn't agree less.

The maidservant had her head bowed to the Luna politely, motioned for Diane to do the same too. One thing Diane isn't willing to do. She wouldn't bow to a selfish brat who took pleasure in stealing what is hers!.

'Welcome to the Stealth Pack, Luna. We're honored to have you here in our midst' The woman addressed.

Hailey nodded. 'I'm honored to be here to finally claim my rightful mate too. I hope we all get along..'

'Behind me is your assigned maid. Please, let her know however way she can serve you. I'm sure she would do it whole heartedly..'

Diane's small fists clenched. 'I shall serve you wholeheartedly, Dear Luna' she said through gritted teeth.

'I bet you will'

The tension in the room grew thicker, the same way Diane wanted answers to questions running through her head.

'Your presence has been announced to the whole pack and the ceremony will be taking place in two days.....' the maid servant continued to say. Diane shut the voice of the woman out of her head, annoyance welling up in her heart.

Once done, Diane followed the maidservant out of the room, very much determined to go see the Alpha after.

'I saw what you did in there' she heard the maid speak to her.

'I do not understand what you're talking about, ma'am'.

'You refused to show due respect to the Alpha's Luna'.

Once again, the reality of her current life situation dawned on her. Although, she has been wronged but she was defenseless. She is too weak to come to her own rescue and nobody is willing to do so for her.

Diane swallowed hard. 'My bad. I would make sure not to repeat the same mistake' she apologized hurtfully.

'If I ever notice such attitude again, I will report to the Alpha without a second thought' she threatened, waking away thereafter.

The fact that she has accepted whatever that's coming her way didn't stop Diane from attempting to see the Alpha again.. As she approached his office where she was sure he'd be at that moment, she started to search through her head for excuses that would make the guard let her in.

Luckily for her, there was no guard in sight when she arrived his office. She moved closer to the door, inhaled deeply, ready to turn the door knob when the door was forced open by someone else. She froze when she bumped into an estranged ireful figure. His poise immediately relaxed when he saw her. And his once stoic expression turned bright. Confused at the sudden switch in emotions, Diane also flashed an unsure smile.

'Hi Diane. It's a pleasure to finally meet you in person' he mentioned, his palm extended for a handshake.

Diane took a step back, rubbed her palm on her faded jeans before nervously taking his palm. How come he's heard about her enough to know who she really is. Was it the gossips again or the Alpha himself? She's certain she has not met this man before.

His smile widened. 'Your expression shows how much confused you are...'

She inclined her head. 'I'm sorry if that upsets you' she apologized instantaneously.

He waved his hands dismissively. 'A proper introduction will do. My name's Lucius. I'm Alpha Xavier's beta.'

A gasp escaped her lips, followed by an immediate bow. 'I'm sorry if I didn't show enough respect'.

Diane felt him nudge her shoulders. 'It's fine. I'm not as mean as your mate..' he joked.

At the word 'mate' Diane raised her head to stare at him. He definitely knows...

He grinned, walking farther away. 'I'm sure we would be seeing each other around' he added lastly before walking out of her presence.

'What are you doing standing there?' she heard him question from indoors. Diane detached herself from the sense of eeriness she still felt from Lucius impact then went in, closing the door behind her.

Her wolf awakened at the sight of her mate, inciting pleasure within her. His sweet, intoxicating smell, one she had missed continued to linger around her smell organ. The expedition causing her to momentarily forget the displeasure she felt while coming here. Painfully, she realized she had missed his presence these past few days. She could tell it wasn't the same for him anyways, Judging by his piqued appearance.

Diane consciously collected the pouch bag from her pockets, positioned it on his desk. 'I forgot to return this'

His fists pushed the pouch bag to the floor. 'I don't need it.'.

Prominent lines formed between Diane's brows. 'Still, it's wrong to keep it. Alpha since I'm no longer to leave the pack'

'I don't care what your reason is. Take the money and leave. I can't accept what you already laid your filthy hands on.'

'About your new Luna too. Do you have an idea that we're sisters?'

Diane swore she heard him chuckle. 'You mean step sisters?' he rhetorically questioned.

She nodded slowly, the answers to her question coming to light. He wasn't in the dark about it.

Diane said nothing more, she picked up the pouch as ordered by her mate and walked out the office in a sullen state.

She was blinded by her own tears and didn't notice when she bumped into someone else. She started to apologize but was quickly cut short by him.

'You don't seem happy. Do you need some help. I can help lift your mood' He offered, a genuine concern crossing his features.

His eyes... They had a distinct feature in them. Diane peered, searching deeply... It appeared all too familiar like she had seen them before.

'Are you one of Crescent's'

'Definitely not. I'm new here'

'Have we met before?' she asked peculiarly.

He tilted his head to the side. 'A couple of times..'

'Ahhh... I'm sorry. I really can't recall where..'

He squirmed. 'That's not really necessary now. I'm sure we will keep up together'

Diane casted furtive glances at him..

'My name's Michaelson. I hope we get along well.' he added, head bowed lightly.
