C5 I must Have Lost My Memories
"Mr. Chen—" Zhao Sitong's voice broke as she gazed into Muh Chen's deep, silent eyes, her heart aching as if sliced by a knife. She couldn't help but cry out. Mr. Chen's expression suggested he truly didn't recognize her. Could it be that he had amnesia? This thought struck her, and she stared at him with wide eyes.
"Mr. Chen, have you lost your memory? You must have, otherwise you'd recognize me!"
The newcomers to the villa couldn't help but burst into laughter upon hearing Zhao Sitong's words.
"Chen, when did you get amnesia? We had no idea!" Qin Lang laughed the loudest.
Muh Chen glanced indifferently at everyone before casually taking a seat on the sofa, crossing his legs and reclining with an air of nonchalance. He had intended to leave but stayed out of courtesy for Rong Xiaoyi.
Ignoring the others' laughter, Zhao Sitong kept her gaze fixed on Muh Chen, who was lounging on the sofa.
"Mrs. Wu, please take this young lady downstairs to change her attire," Rong Xiaoyi called out, finally ceasing his laughter.
"Of course, Young Master. Miss, if you would follow me," Mrs. Wu emerged and beckoned to Zhao Sitong.
Biting her lips, Zhao Sitong felt a pang of distress as Muh Chen avoided her gaze. She couldn't fault Mr. Chen, though; his 'amnesia' justified his indifference. Determined to help him recover his memories, she followed Mrs. Wu upstairs.
"Hey, Chen, do you seriously not recognize that chick?" Qin Lang, eyes twinkling with curiosity, couldn't contain his excitement.
"She seems quite taken with you," Rong Xiaoyi commented, walking over with a resigned look.
"Get changed!" Muh Chen said with a look of disdain, prompting a realization among the group.
They all laughed, suddenly aware they were still in their swimwear, and dispersed to change.
"Chen, about that girl..." Lin Yanran approached and sat next to Muh Chen, her words trailing off as she hesitated.
"Hmm?" Muh Chen furrowed his brow and glanced at Lin Yanran, who was seated beside him.
Quick to grasp Muh Chen's meaning, Lin Yanran, though somewhat reluctant, still managed a gentle smile and shifted slightly to the side. Her gaze inadvertently fell on the arm that had just been grabbed by the girl. Mr. Chen was known for his aversion to being touched, wasn't he? In the past, he would change his clothes immediately if someone so much as brushed against them. This time, not only were his clothes touched, but his arm was grabbed as well. Yet, after being in the room for quite some time, he hadn't washed his hands or changed his clothes. Could he have forgotten?
A flicker of annoyance passed through Lin Yanran's eyes at the thought, but she dared not let it show in front of Muh Chen. Instead, she maintained the most refined smile on her face.
"Is there—something wrong here?" Lin Yuyan asked, tapping her own head.
"I don't know," Muh Chen answered, not bothering to look up from his laptop.
Lin Yanran noticed that Muh Chen was still engrossed in his documents, not lifting his head. She sat awkwardly to one side, at a loss for words, but she had long since grown accustomed to Muh Chen's aloof and cool demeanor. Despite this, she felt content; after all, there were few women in the world who could sit so close to Mr. Chen, and she was one of the privileged few.
Upstairs in the dressing room:
"Young lady, how about this dress? Your skin is so lovely; it would look stunning on you," Mrs. Wu suggested, holding up a garment for consideration.
"No, how can I wear this? It doesn't even have sleeves," Zhao Sitong said dismissively, eyeing the strapless couture dress in Mrs. Wu's hands.
"Umm, how about this one? This one has sleeves," Mrs. Wu offered, chuckling at the strapless dress before turning to another. She hadn't expected the young lady to be so modest—it was quite uncommon, considering most girls nowadays seemed to prefer wearing less.
"That won't do. The sleeves are too short; it hardly covers the arms," Zhao Sitong critiqued, unimpressed by the conservative dress Mrs. Wu was holding.
"What? Then what would you like to wear? It's summer, after all!" Mrs. Wu exclaimed, finding the girl's modesty extraordinary, even by her own old-fashioned standards.
