C11 Little Sister You're Waiting for Mom!
Lo Qing had spent the entire afternoon in the hall, anxiously awaiting Fu Jingchuan's return, eager to share her woes and seek his comfort with some affectionate coaxing.
As dinner time approached, Fu Jingchuan finally arrived. Draping his black trench coat over his arm, he exuded an air of elegance and nobility, coupled with a cool, aloof demeanor.
Upon seeing him, Lo Qing's heart leapt with joy, and she hurried forward, intending to take his coat. However, the man before her raised an eyebrow and gave her a chilly glance before shifting his gaze away and asking without emotion, "Why are you here?"
Feeling a sudden rush of hurt, Lo Qing sniffled and replied in a gentle voice, "I came to give Sui a gift today."
Fu Jingchuan gave a noncommittal hum and scanned the area, noticing the absence of Fu Sui and Soong Ruanruan.
Anticipating his thoughts, Lo Qing informed him, "Sui is still upstairs, and Dr. Soong is currently in the kitchen."
At this, Fu Jingchuan's brow furrowed. "What is she doing in the kitchen?"
Lo Qing felt a surge of irritation at the question. Apart from their home's nanny, Fu Sui refused to eat anyone else's cooking. She recalled how her own attempt to cook a meal to win him over had been completely ignored, yet now he seemed willing to eat what Dr. Soong prepared.
She remembered Soong Ruanruan's smile when she had come downstairs and Lo Qing had inquired about her activities. "Little Young Master wants to eat my cooking, so I'm making him a meal," the woman had said cheerfully.
Why? Lo Qing thought bitterly. She had tried so hard for years, only to be outdone by this doctor in a mere day or two?
Dinner time had arrived, and Soong Ruanruan had planned to cook for Fu Sui and then leave. However, the young boy was tugging at her hand, wanting her to stay and dine with him.
But she could not possibly remove her mask in front of Fu Jingchuan. She couldn't afford to take any risks, even if it might disappoint the little one.
Soong Ruanruan crouched down and spoke softly to Fu Sui, "Dear Sui, your little sister at my house is waiting for me to come back. She's all alone right now and might be feeling scared or hungry."
Recalling the delicate little girl he had met at the airport last time, Fu Sui's gaze softened noticeably. After a moment's hesitation, he gently released Soong Ruanruan's hand.
"Sister, she's waiting for Mommy," Fu Sui murmured, then returned to his seat alone.
Soong Ruanruan watched him, her heart aching as if sliced by a knife.
Dear Sui, you are Mommy's precious one too. Mommy loves you so dearly, please forgive Mommy...
Taking a deep breath, she spoke to Fu Jingchuan and then departed.
The remaining three sat in silence before the spread of dishes.
Fu Sui bowed his head, eating quietly.
Fu Jingchuan maintained the principle of eating in silence, sampling the dishes Soong Ruanruan had prepared.
The dishes Soong Ruanruan made were undeniably a delight to the senses, capturing the discerning Fu Sui's heart from an early age.
Despite the delicious meal, Lo Qing clenched her teeth, refraining from speaking.
She had endured an uncomfortable day with the Fu family.
Back at home, unable to bear her grievances, Lo Qing vented to her parents.
Hearing that even a psychologist had won Fu Sui's favor, Lo's father berated her, "You're useless! After all these years, you still haven't secured the title of Mrs. Fu!"
"So what if she's dark and unattractive? She quickly captured Fu Sui's heart, didn't she? You'd be lucky to have half her charm!"
Lo Qing, scolded into silence, bit her lip, her eyes brimming with resentment and anger.
It was all because of that little brat! If it weren't for him...
And that psychologist!
She vowed to make them suffer for this!
...
A day later, Soong Ruanruan arrived at the Fu family's home, once again bringing her homemade pastries. But as she opened the door, she saw Lo Qing already in the living room.
She subtly furrowed her brow and gave a slight nod in greeting.
One must always maintain appearances.
Yet, as a mother, she certainly didn't want this woman getting too close to her son.
Lo Qing noticed Dr. Soong holding something and greeted her with a warm smile, "Dr. Soong, have you brought some more treats for Sui? Just set it down here. I've already sliced some fruit for him. We can take them up together."
Without giving it much thought, Soong Ruanruan carried the items over.
