C12 If Something Were to Happen to Him You Wouldn't Regret It!

The doorbell chimed at that moment.

Lo Qing gave her an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, Dr. Soong. Could you please open the door for me? My hands are full."

Soong Ruanruan gave her a cool glance before setting down what she was holding and going to answer the door.

That look sent a shiver through Lo Qing.

It wasn't the usual serene and harmless look she was accustomed to; it was cold and sharp, with a hint of menace.

Watching Soong Ruanruan's retreating figure, Lo Qing clenched her teeth, opened the box of pastries she had brought, and carefully spread a bit of the peanut butter she had prepared onto one of them.

Fu Sui was allergic to peanut butter, and today she was determined to make this kid suffer! Perhaps she could even get rid of the psychiatrist in the process!

When Soong Ruanruan returned, Lo Qing handed her the plate with a smile. "Dr. Soong, could you take this up to him? Sui doesn't want me to interrupt him."

Soong Ruanruan nodded, sensing something amiss, but unable to put her finger on it. She headed upstairs to find Fu Sui.

Lo Qing settled back onto the sofa, timing Fu Jingchuan's return. Her smile deepened.

Upstairs, Fu Sui sampled the pastry Soong Ruanruan had brought him.

But after just one bite, he looked alarmed and his face turned pale. "Is there peanut butter in this?"

Seeing his reaction, Soong Ruanruan's heart skipped a beat. She quickly responded, "No, there isn't!"

Fu Sui dropped the pastry and began frantically scratching his arm. His pale face reddened and his breathing grew labored. "Auntie, I feel really bad..."

Soong Ruanruan was horrified. She scooped him up in her arms and hurried downstairs.

As Fu Jingchuan stepped through the front door, he was met with the alarming sight. His gaze hardened and his expression turned icy, "What did you feed him?!"

Soong Ruanruan's heart was in knots, and she was at a complete loss. "The pastries I made..."

Everything had been fine yesterday; how could this have happened today?

Lo Qing sprang to her feet, her face contorted with anger, and shouted at her, "Did you add peanut butter?! Don't you know Sui is allergic to peanut butter?"

Soong Ruanruan was shaking uncontrollably. "I didn't do it!"

Fu Jingchuan took the child from her arms and handed him to Lo Qing, "Take Sui to the car."

Without thinking, Soong Ruanruan started to run after them, but was abruptly stopped by a firm grip on her shoulder.

Fu Jingchuan's eyes were icy and filled with malice, "If he's harmed, your life won't be worth sparing."

Barely able to keep her balance, Soong Ruanruan watched helplessly as the car sped away. She rushed to the hospital, but to no avail; she couldn't catch a glimpse of Fu Sui.

She collapsed on the hospital steps, shivering as the cold wind numbed her limbs.

Then, her phone rang. Soong Le'ann's sweet voice filled her ear, "Mam, it's so late, why aren't you home yet?"

Her daughter's voice was like a soothing balm, easing the turmoil and guilt inside her.

Taking a deep breath to compose herself, she replied tenderly, "Mam will be home soon, An An. What would you like for dinner tonight?"

After a moment's thought, the little girl answered with excitement, "Big meatballs!"

Soong Ruanruan chuckled, "Okay, Mam will make you big meatballs tonight. Just wait for me at home, sweetheart."

In the taxi, Soong Ruanruan received a text: "Dr. Soong, as of tomorrow, you're no longer responsible for the Little Young Master's psychological care."

Her breath caught, and she clutched her phone until her knuckles turned white.

A few days later.

Fu Jingchuan rose early and, as was his routine, went to check on Fu Sui before heading to the office.

As he opened the door, his heart skipped a beat.

The scene mirrored the one from the hospital: toys scattered on the floor, the little boy huddled in the corner of the bed, his face void of emotion.

Fu Jingchuan bit his lip and sat down beside the bed, softening his voice, "Sui, what happened?"

Hearing his father's voice, Fu Sui shifted his head slightly, his dark eyes reflecting a chill strikingly similar to Fu Jingchuan's.

He remained silent, and Fu Jingchuan didn't press him, seemingly confident that the little guy would eventually speak up on his own.
