C18 I Am Willing!
"Soong Ling, what's with the act?" Lo Qing, who had been quiet until now, stepped forward and yanked Soong Ruanruan to her feet. "Bringing Sui to the hospital was just to put your mind at ease, wasn't it?"
Soong Ruanruan stumbled and crashed against the wall.
Wincing in pain, she was about to speak when Fu Jingchuan cut in, "Is this why you got close to him?"
She managed to reply with difficulty, "No..."
"Do you have no heart? Fu Sui adores you, and you're using him just to get a match?" Fu Jingchuan's words were biting and icy.
"Soong Ling, have you lost your mind?" His eyes were icy and ominous, like an abyssal black hole filled with endless frost. "Or is this all part of your scheme?"
He was filled with regret. He should never have allowed this ill-intentioned woman to return as Fu Sui's psychiatrist!
Soong Ruanruan could only shake her head helplessly, trying to deny it, but it was clear that Jingchuan wasn't hearing any of it.
Just then, the door opened and the doctor entered, his expression stern.
Fu Jingchuan abruptly released his grip and looked over dispassionately.
Soong Ruanruan broke free and hurried toward the doctor.
The doctor glanced at them, his face betraying a flicker of excitement. "The match is successful!"
This meant... his daughter finally had a chance!
But the flicker of hope and joy in Soong Ruanruan's heart was quickly stifled by a wave of guilt, self-reproach, and sorrow.
She felt like a failure as a mother, having never provided her son with even a sliver of warm maternal love, and now she was contemplating having him share the burden of her daughter's illness.
Her son appeared so frail and was still so young...
As a doctor, she understood the potential impact of bone marrow donation on a child's growth and development. How could she willingly let her son endure such an ordeal unless absolutely necessary?
The doctor at the door, noticing the hesitation in Soong Ruanruan's eyes, gently reminded her, "Ms Soong, we've attempted many matches. If we pass up this opportunity, there's no telling when another will arise, and your child's condition cannot afford a lengthy delay."
Although apprehensive about the imposing man beside him, the doctor knew he had to broach the subject for his patient's sake.
Soong Ruanruan jerked her head around, her gaze landing on her daughter lying pale on the hospital bed.
"If we don't operate soon, the child might not survive beyond five years. Ms. Soong, you need to be prepared for that possibility."
The foreign hematologist's words reverberated in her mind like a heavy blow, weighing heavily on her heart.
Could Soong Ruanruan afford any further hesitation?
Beside her, Lo Qing's voice, laced with sarcasm, cut through the air, "Sui is Young Master Fu, not just anyone you can aspire to reach. You don't seriously believe you can win him over with a couple of days of pastries, do you? As if the Fu family people are invisible?"
As she spoke the word "we," she slyly glanced at Fu Jingchuan to gauge his reaction.
Noticing no objection from him, a smug smile played at the corners of her mouth.
Though his face rarely betrayed his emotions, his silence was as good as consent, wasn't it?
"I didn't invite Dear Sui over to set up a match; I simply noticed the children got along well," Soong Ruanruan replied, her composure restored. "I understand that you, Miss Lo, are merely an engaged partner. So why, may I ask, do you think you have a say in the Fu family's affairs already?"
"What do you mean 'interfering'? I simply can't bear to watch you deceive Sui with such an amateurish ploy," retorted Lo Qing, her pride stung.
As the tension in the room escalated, Fu Sui suddenly spoke up, "I am willing."
His clear eyes fixed on the frail little girl on the bed, and though he spoke softly, his gaze was resolute.
