C35 She Didn't Do It on Purpose!

Soong Ruanruan paused thoughtfully before responding, "Alright, just give me a moment to prepare."

Having dedicated years to the study of psychology, Soong Ruanruan believed deeply in the hospital's mission and was more than willing to help promote it.

"Then, here's to a fruitful collaboration," Soong Feifei said, her face beaming with a smile that made it difficult to associate her with the unpleasantness at the hotel earlier.

One doesn't slap a smiling face, and so Soong Ruanruan returned the courtesy with a polite, "Pleasure working with you."

Once Soong Ruanruan and the director had exited the reception room, Soong Feifei reclined on the sofa, blowing on her nails with an air of impatience.

"Miss Soong, while you have a moment, perhaps you could review the interview prompts and familiarize yourself with some of the psychological terminology," her assistant suggested tentatively.

Soong Feifei shot him a withering look. "Is it your place to tell me how to do my job?"

Intimidated by her stern demeanor, the assistant wisely chose to remain silent.

Truth be told, Soong Feifei was not the ideal candidate for this interview, lacking any relevant experience. However, with the Soong family's investment in Stars Entertainment, and a word from Soong's father, she had access to resources others could only dream of.

Ten minutes later, Soong Ruanruan appeared on camera.

"Dr. Soong, there was a significant misunderstanding. I was under the impression that someone was deceiving the young master of the Fu family, which prompted the investigation. Unfortunately, the situation was mishandled, resulting in slanderous articles about you and the hospital. I sincerely apologize for that," Soong Feifei explained formally, then unexpectedly brought up the past incident.

The incident's buzz had been waning, but with her mention, it was bound to reignite post-broadcast, likely generating a fresh surge of attention for her.

Soong Ruanruan maintained a composed demeanor, responding generously, "No harm done. We live and learn. In the future, Miss Soong, I hope you won't be misled again."

Soong Feifei forced a laugh.

This plain woman had the nerve to insinuate she was gullible!

As the minutes ticked by, the recording session moved into the next phase, and Soong Ruanruan rose to her feet.

"Next, let's take a look at the treatment methods used by psychologists and some of the diagnostic equipment they require."

Her poised and authoritative demeanor earned admiring glances from the filming crew's professionals.

In contrast, Soong Feifei, who was nearby, had been asking juvenile and dull questions throughout half of the interview. She completely missed the mark and was clearly unfamiliar with even the basic psychological terminology, indicating she hadn't prepared at all.

After leaving the reception room, Soong Ruanruan saw her daughter, Ruanruan, sitting on a bench, giving her a sweet smile.

That's right, today was Ji Yu's day off, and he had promised to bring An An to pick her up. But where was he now?

Soong Ruanruan returned her daughter's smile with a reassuring one, signaling her to wait a little longer. An An nodded understandingly; this wasn't her first time waiting at the hospital.

Suddenly, Soong Feifei spoke up, "Dr. Soong, this is your daughter, isn't it?"

"Yes."

"I've heard she's become friends with Young Master Fu. Does she play a role in the therapy as well?"

Soong Ruanruan's brow furrowed. She didn't want her daughter unnecessarily exposed online, so she stepped forward to shield her from the camera. "Director, please cut this part of the footage."

Then, she addressed Soong Feifei, "Miss Soong, today's visit is to educate about psychology. Let's keep unrelated topics for a private discussion."

"What's the matter? Is Dr. Soong unable to answer?" Soong Feifei asked with a smirk. "After all this talk, I haven't seen Dr. Soong with any patients. If this goes on air, it won't be very informative, will it?"

As she finished, a nurse approached, "Dr. Soong, your scheduled patient has arrived. However, they've heard about the recording and prefer not to be on camera."

Dr. Soong nodded in understanding. Many patients with mental health issues prefer to keep their privacy, which is perfectly reasonable.

"We can't film?" Soong Feifei's tone turned sharp upon hearing this. "We've been recording all day for authenticity, and now you're saying we can't film the patient?"

"Due to patient privacy concerns, I'm afraid we'll have to conclude today's exclusive interview."

"How can this be acceptable!" Soong Feifei exclaimed, her voice rising. "You won't even allow us to film the patient's treatment. Dr. Soong, do you lack confidence in your work?"

"This isn't about confidence."

Soong Ruanruan had no interest in engaging further and walked past her toward the treatment room.

Soong Feifei bit her lip, watching the woman's retreating figure with seething frustration.

On the bench, An An's eyes sparkled as she waited patiently. Suddenly, she leaped off.

It was her little brother!

She excitedly scampered towards Fu Sui with her tiny legs. But just a few steps away —

"Thud!" She fell hard onto the ground!

"Wah!"

The marble floor was unforgiving, the pain sharper than a needle prick. An An burst into tears.

Hearing the familiar wail, Soong Ruanruan's heart skipped a beat. She turned to see her daughter sprawled vulnerably on the floor.

"An An!" She hurried back to her.

Fu Sui's eyes widened in alarm, and he quickly moved toward his sister.

Feeling utterly wronged, An An suddenly felt herself being lifted, her feet dangling in the air!

Could she be flying?

The tears stopped as she turned her head in confusion, only to see a familiar yet stern face.

"Mr. Fu, Mr. Fu!" she hiccupped, her voice tinged with a whine, "It hurts..."

Fu Jingchuan cradled the child, his brow furrowing at the sight of her scraped knees.

"There, there, An An, no more tears. Mommy's here," Soong Ruanruan said, rushing to her daughter's side as she saw the man holding her. She blew gently on the child's injury, reaching to take her.

But Fu Jingchuan didn't seem inclined to hand her over, instead heading straight for the outpatient clinic.

To avoid causing her daughter more pain by transferring her, Soong Ruanruan held her tongue. She took Dear Sui's hand and they all proceeded downstairs.

Soong Feifei stood rooted to the spot, taking a long while to regain her composure.

What had she witnessed?

The Fu family's haughty and aloof heir, the Chairman of Fu's, was showing concern for a child he barely knew?

She wasn't the only one taken aback; the doctors and nurses in the outpatient clinic below were equally astonished.

Even Fu Jingchuan couldn't fathom why.

Upon seeing the little girl crying after her fall, his heart inexplicably clenched.

Despite the medicine, his daughter's mouth still throbbed with pain. Soong Ruanruan gently offered a packet of candy, saying, "Here, this is Little Ann's favorite flavor. Mommy brought it especially for you."

With a piece of candy unwrapped and in her mouth, Little Ann finally cracked a smile. Her knees were still sore, but she didn't want to cause her mommy any more worry.

"It doesn't hurt anymore~" The little girl's endearing accent melted the hearts of all present.

The doctor advised with care, "Little Ann, be careful not to run when you're walking. See how much it hurts when you fall by accident."

The little girl nodded in agreement.

Out of the blue, Fu Sui spoke deliberately, "It wasn't an accident."

Soong Ruanruan paused, lightning-fast in grasping her son's implication. "Dear Sui, are you suggesting someone deliberately tripped Little Ann?"

With a serious expression, Fu Sui nodded.

He had seen it all too clearly: the woman conversing with his aunt had stealthily stuck out her foot, then acted as if nothing had happened!

"Check the surveillance footage!" Soong Ruanruan commanded as she rose to her feet.

Who else could it be but Soong Feifei? She had been the nearest to Little Ann at that moment!
