C46 Is Dr Soong Worried about Me?

Ruanruan Soong wasn't interested in spectating from the sidelines. She turned her attention to the two children and asked, "What are you two playing? Can Auntie join in?"

Fu Sui nodded and led her into the room.

The interior resembled an art studio, with two children's easels beside the floor-to-ceiling windows. One easel displayed An An's drawing of two QQ characters, while the other held Dear Sui's highly abstract and seemingly nonsensical artwork.

"Mommy, this is my brother and me," An An said, pulling her over to the drawings.

The two adorable figures were clearly siblings, depicted with a charming and spirited quality. In contrast, Fu Sui's piece lacked discernible shapes or an apparent theme.

After examining it for a while, the little girl inquired, "Brother, what did you draw?"

Fu Sui paused before answering, "A river."

Soong Ruanruan studied the artwork and offered an encouraging tone, "Dear Sui, your imagination is quite vivid, and your use of color is impressive. This white part represents trees, and the blue circle is the sun, right?"

Fu Sui's eyes widened in surprise. No one had ever correctly interpreted the hidden meanings in his drawings—only Auntie had!

Soong Ruanruan had some background in child psychology, which gave her insight into how children express themselves through art.

"Mommy, why don't you draw something too?" An An suggested, batting her eyelashes. She remembered her mother's drawings as being exceptionally beautiful.

Soong Ruanruan hesitated, "It's better if just you kids draw. Mommy hasn't done it in so long, I'm quite out of practice."

Yet Fu Sui was curious, gazing into her eyes with the same anticipation as An An, "I want to see."

Faced with her son and daughter's eagerness, Soong Ruanruan wavered but didn't want to disappoint them, so she agreed to draw.

Lo Qing, having observed for a while and finding the activity dull, whispered, "Jingchuan, why don't we go to the kitchen and see what dishes need to be prepared today?"

Upon hearing this, Fu Jingchuan exited with her, heading straight for the study instead.

Lo Qing was momentarily taken aback, then her lips curled into a smile. Of course, Jingchuan wouldn't be found bustling about in the kitchen. As long as his interest wasn't piqued by that woman, all was well.

Soon, an array of dishes graced the table, and Soong Ruanruan led the children downstairs for dinner. Fu Sui's eyes betrayed a mix of pain and resolve as he eyed the meat on the table. Just as he reached for a piece, Soong Ruanruan intervened.

"Dear Sui, why not start with some vegetables? Your sister has a fondness for meat, so let's save it for her, okay?"

The request was odd, considering Soong Ruanruan's usual indulgence of Fu Sui, and now she was denying him meat.

Despite sensing something amiss, Fu Sui refrained from taking the meat upon hearing his sister's preference.

Lo Qing furrowed her brow. "Dr. Soong, we have plenty of food. If Sui wants meat, he should have some. The Fu family isn't short on dishes."

Soong Ruanruan met her gaze with a calm demeanor. "Miss Lo, please focus on your meal. I'll handle Dear Sui's matters appropriately."

Lo Qing bit back further comment at the sight of Fu Jingchuan's cool stare.

The little girl exchanged a look with her mam, silently agreeing with her brother, and unlike her usual sharing habit, she took a piece of meat for herself.

"Munch, munch, eat!" Her chubby cheeks bulged as she savored the meat, seemingly enjoying the tastiest delicacy in the world.

Watching his sister's eagerness, Fu Sui found the dishes before him suddenly more appealing.

To the butler's astonishment, the meal concluded with the Little Young Master finishing his bowl of rice without leftovers, a departure from his usual habit.

In the kitchen, Soong Ruanruan was giving the chef instructions: "Use less oil and salt in the meat dishes, keep them light and tasty. Don't prepare too much at once, and consider focusing on seafood for the time being."

The chef nodded in agreement.

"Dr. Soong, are you outlining a dietary plan for Sui?" Lo Qing, observing the woman's directives to the chef, felt a twinge of irritation, as if Soong Ruanruan were the lady of the house, and she couldn't help but interrupt her.

Soong Ruanruan nodded, agreeing to the plan to initially keep Dear Sui from eating meat, and if he did, it would be the less greasy kind to lessen his aversion to it.

Lo Qing offered a smile. "Perhaps you could share the upcoming plan with me, Dr. Soong? I'm more than willing to lend a hand. You can't be expected to visit the Fu Mansion every day, so it might be more efficient for me to instruct the servants directly."

Soong Ruanruan paused, considering.

"Do you intend to come here daily?" Lo Qing asked, noting Soong Ruanruan's hesitation and feigning surprise. "I've never heard of psychological treatment requiring such closeness. It seems that psychologists must really build extensive networks, given that treating one family involves forging strong ties with them."

Lo Qing's tone lacked overt sarcasm, but her words were nonetheless discomfiting.

"That's not what I meant," Soong Ruanruan replied, her brow furrowing slightly. "Handing the treatment over to someone who isn't a professional simply doesn't guarantee the same results."

A glint appeared in Lo Qing's eyes. "Does Dr. Soong not trust me?"

Of course, she was concerned. After all, Lo Qing had once been callous enough to deliberately expose Dear Sui to allergens!

Remaining composed, Soong Ruanruan clarified, "Of course not. My concern extends to all non-professionals."

Suppressing her irritation, Lo Qing maintained her smile. "I did study some psychology in college. Why not let me have a go at it, Dr. Soong? It's not fair to expect you to come here every day."

Soong Ruanruan's expression turned stern at the suggestion. "Does Miss Lo think this matter is something to be taken lightly?"

Caught off guard, Lo Qing realized her mistake and, with a slight bow of her head, apologized, "I'm sorry, I just wanted to contribute to Sui's well-being and take this chance to bond with him. You're aware he doesn't take to me very well, and I'm concerned our relationship will remain strained even after the wedding."

Soong Ruanruan had no counterargument.

"Once Dear Sui has overcome his anorexia and his condition has stabilized, I'll involve Miss Lo in the process. That way, we can work on strengthening your bond." As she spoke, a tightness gripped her chest.

Dear Sui would eventually have to spend a lot of time with Lo Qing. If she was willing to change and genuinely accept Dear Sui, there really wouldn't be any reason to prevent their relationship from growing in the future.

However, a cold, childish voice suddenly rang out from behind: "Don't want to."

Fu Sui had somehow appeared at the kitchen doorway, his gaze fixed on the two adults, his face as stern as his father's.

He didn't want to spend time with Lo Qing, not even for a second!

"Sui, what don't you want?" Lo Qing stepped forward, attempting to grasp the child's hand, but he deftly avoided her.

Fu Sui didn't even glance her way, his attention on Soong Ruanruan, as if he wanted to speak, yet he hesitated.

"Dear Sui..."

Soong Ruanruan had barely called out to him when Fu Sui, in a huff, spun around and dashed upstairs, slamming his bedroom door shut.

Fu Jingchuan emerged from his study just in time to witness the scene.

Eager to clear up any potential misunderstanding, Lo Qing quickly explained, "Jingchuan, I'm not sure why Sui is upset. Dr. Soong and I were merely discussing his situation."

She hoped he wouldn't think she had upset him again!

Soong Ruanruan opened her mouth as if to speak but remained silent.

Fu Jingchuan cast a brief, detached glance before heading to his son's room.

Upon opening the door, An An's voice was tender and soothing, "Brother, it's not true, Mommy would never leave you."

Fu Sui looked down, his spirits low and his eyes dim. Even after hearing the little girl's words, he was doubtful, "She... wants me to get along with someone else."
