C8 I Won't Let Go of Any Clues!

Soong Ruanruan couldn't fathom why he seemed so disheartened again.

As she began to pull her hand away, the little one in front of her reached out with his chubby hand, gently hooking her pinky finger and giving it a light shake.

Her heart melted, while feelings of guilt and compassion surged within her.

Not wanting to upset him by mentioning his illness, she recalled the pastries she had made for her daughter that morning and had brought some to the hospital. She selected a piece of mung bean cake and offered it to Fu Sui.

"I made this. Give it a try and see if it's tasty. Remember the little girl from last time? She really enjoyed it," Soong Ruanruan said with a warm smile, her voice naturally tender.

Thinking of Soong Le'ann, who was waiting patiently at home, her gaze softened even more.

Fu Sui nodded, took a small bite, and his eyes sparkled with delight.

The cake was delicious, melting instantly in his mouth.

He finished it quickly, looking up at Soong Ruanruan without asking for more, sitting there with admirable self-control.

Yet, as a child, he couldn't conceal the eagerness and joy in his eyes.

Soong Ruanruan's heart ached with empathy, and she placed the rest of the pastries before Fu Sui, speaking softly, "If you like them, just let Auntie know. I'll make lots more tasty treats for you."

Fu Sui smiled faintly, murmuring a polite thank you, and chose another small piece to savor.

"You don't need to thank me, dear," Soong Ruanruan said, watching him with a heart brimming with contentment.

After Fu Sui had nearly finished, Soong Ruanruan broached the main issue: "Dear Sui, would you let Auntie help treat you, is that okay?"

A look of reluctance flickered across Fu Sui's eyes, but after a brief silence, he spoke up, "I don't like hospitals."

He found the atmosphere there too stifling, something he deeply disliked.

"How about we go home instead? We can avoid the hospital. It's just that..."

Soong Ruanruan really didn't want to visit Fu Jingchuan's house, and she wasn't even sure if he would allow her to come.

This time, Fu Sui responded quickly: "Okay."

After a moment, Soong Ruanruan opened the office door to find Fu Jingchuan still standing outside, his hand casually in his pocket, his demeanor cool and detached.

As she emerged, he approached, his gaze shifting from her to Fu Sui at her side.

"Mr. Fu, here's the situation: the Little Young Master is reluctant to receive treatment at the hospital, but he's agreed to let me treat him at home," Soong Ruanruan said, her eyes downcast as she tried to mask her voice.

"Oh?" Fu Jingchuan, noticing Fu Sui's earnest nod, allowed a slight smile to cross his lips and extended his hand to the boy, "Come here."

Fu Sui looked up, glancing between Soong Ruanruan and Fu Jingchuan. After a brief hesitation, he obediently moved to his father's side and was promptly scooped up into his arms.

"Since Fu Sui agrees, you'll come every other day," Fu Jingchuan stated, his tone flat, his words an unmistakable command.

"Yes, Mr. Fu," Soong Ruanruan replied, her demeanor submissive as if intimidated by Fu Jingchuan's imposing presence, her head bowed in acquiescence.

"Start tomorrow. I'll text you the address," he said, then left with Fu Sui in his arms.

Soong Ruanruan looked up to see the little one peering back at her over his father's shoulder. She quickly mustered a smile and waved.

Once outside the hospital, Fu Jingchuan settled Fu Sui into the car and turned to Zhou Chi, who had been waiting patiently. "Check out this doctor named Soong Ling at the hospital. Find out if she's connected to Soong Ruanruan in any way."

Despite the woman's dark complexion and unattractive features, with a voice that was harsh and grating, it seemed unlikely she'd have any connection to the beautiful and charming Soong Ruanruan. Yet, there was something about her eyes that was strikingly similar.

Fu Sui wouldn't overlook a single clue.

Even after all these years, no matter if she had fled to the ends of the earth, he was bound to track her down!
