C11 Chapter Ten

The year was over so fast and it was already a year and a few months since she had been with Sam.

Sam had always troubled her about getting married. She was tired of his pestering and the feelings she had for him was waxing cold and so was the sex. The intensity had reduced and the pleasure to have it with him had waned considerably.

Now she could not understand what had drawn her to him in the first instance.

Gift had not known why she had fallen suddenly in love with Samuel. She could have sworn that she loved Felix obsessively. But life they say is full of surprises. She could tell that their sev life was nothing to write home about. At first it had been good enough but with time it had deteriorated and most times she was left unfulfilled. More money than anyone had given her, she had started having second thoughts of having her cake and eating it. What a mess. Sam had turned out not to be someone to mess with. Had she been attracted to his ugly appearance, you know like beauty and the beast and opposites attracting and all that? Well the scales had fallen off her eyes. She could see clearly now. She was getting more and more short tempered with him resulting in them having lots of quarrels.' Tell me then how I can allow him to formalize and legalize our Union when I am not sure if I want to stay with him any longer. In short I know I don't want him any more but I know I have to be careful and know how I go about doing it because he can kill me without baiting an eye'. She dared not look at another man while he was around and if she should greet anyone, it must be with his permission, else she would have to explain convincingly how she happened to know the person otherwise stand the risk of being at the receiving end of his jealous rage. Her parents could not do anything but to pray for her. They remembered with regret how Felix's parents had come to formally break the engagement.' We had thought that we were soon going to be relatives but fate seemed to have other plans for us' they had said.' no hard feelings though. We sincerely wish you and your daughter the best.' Now barely a year and half Sam was yet to formalize his Union with their daughter ,not his fault any way, it's just this daughter of theirs who did not know what she wants from life.
