C16 Chapter 16

"Beautiful... things, decorations."

Because she couldn't feel it, Soong Chaoxi was a little dispirited. Perhaps it was because of the weather. It was just as depressing outside and inside.

"Cheer up. We can definitely go out."

Yuan Fann put his hand on her shoulder. Soong Chaoxi didn't say anything. She just sat on the black checkered sofa by the floor-to-ceiling window and looked out with empty eyes. When Yuan Fann saw this scene, he could only sigh in his heart. Then, as if infected, he sat on the other side of the sofa.

The scene looked like a painting in which two people were motionless.

"This place is not good at all."

Nan Lu muttered under her breath. Soong Chaoxi turned her head and saw that she was taking a painting off the wall. Nan Lu looked at it carefully and said, "What a pity."

Suddenly, everything in front of her shattered. The remains of the painting fell to the ground, making an uncomfortable noise.

Yuan Fann also turned his head around. They were afraid that the girl would burst into tears in the next second.

However, she did not. She just used her feet to move the remains to the side and silently opened the door.

"Nan Lu, you..."

Yuan Fann looked at her worriedly. He wanted to say something, but at this moment, all words suddenly lost all color.

"Listen."

Her expression changed. Soong Chaoxi listened carefully. She heard a familiar voice.

Was it a sparrow?

Just as she stood up and was about to go out and take a look, a sparrow landed on the mottled floor in front of the door. It cried out a few times and then looked inside.

It shook its head and turned around.

Nan Lu eagerly opened the other door, but the sparrow ran to the window again, poked it with its beak, and then flapped its wings and flew away.

There seemed to be the sound of a bird in the distance.

Where did it go? No one knew, and no one chased after it.

"These birds look quite pitiful."

Nan Lu turned her head and closed the door, revealing a forced smile.

This was not what Soong Chaoxi thought. She had thought that after the old woman left, the two of them would remain positive and wait here in peace.

The rain outside made a ticking sound. They started from the sky and ended on the ground one by one.

Soong Chaoxi saw Nan Lu looking out of the window. Her eyes were filled with an unbelievable determination.

This child would definitely go out.

"So, no matter what, I must go out. You guys must also go out."

"We will all go out. You too, Chaoxi. Don't tell me you still want to stay here?"

Yuan Fann gave her a disdainful look, and Nan Lu waited for her answer with anticipation.

There was nothing she could do about it.

"Of course I will go out too."
