C10 Chapter 10
“Is that supposed to be my problem?” Qiu Anan shot back, unable to hold it in. “Luh Yubai, if you need to blow off steam, go find Qiu Jingya. I’m Qiu Anan—the woman you hate most!”
Qiu Anan clenched her teeth, trying to resist Luh Yubai closing in, but the difference in strength was too much. She could only let him do as he pleased.
Luh Yubai’s kiss was fierce and possessive, moving from her lower lip downward. Even the saliva in Qiu Anan’s mouth kept building, and he kept swallowing, his throat making soft gulping sounds. The sound sent a shiver through her, leaving her whole body tingling as a wave of electricity seemed to surge from inside her and spill over her skin.
“Mmm...” she trembled softly.
Just then—
A loud bang. Right as Qiu Anan was getting lost in his teasing, the car door was yanked open from the outside. The explosive noise made them both jolt. Luh Yubai’s eyes sharpened on instinct as he pulled the woman in his arms tighter.
“Don’t move! Let go of the young lady!”
“...”
The officer outside wore a grim expression, staring at the thug in the car who looked like he was about to assault someone. “Hands up, or we’ll use force!”
“Pfft...”
Even in a moment this serious, Qiu Anan couldn’t help laughing. Her cheeks flushed bright red. She glanced at Luh Yubai beside her—his face dark as a storm—and knew the officer had probably gotten the wrong idea.
But the officer stayed stern. In all his years on the job, he’d never seen a punk this brazen. When Luh Yubai still didn’t let go, he barked, “Let go of the girl, now!”
Qiu Anan swore she’d never seen even the slightest crack in Luh Yubai’s ice-cold expression.
—
“Married?”
The officer looked the two of them up and down, clearly doubtful. “You’re really husband and wife?”
“Yes.” Luh Yubai’s face stayed cold, his voice tight.
“Is he your husband?”
“...Yeah...” Qiu Anan kept her head down and mumbled. She wanted to crawl into a hole. She’d never been this embarrassed in her life—though a small part of her felt relieved. If the cops hadn’t shown up, then just now they would’ve...
“Since you’re married, take it home next time. Don’t do that out on the street. It’s not a good look, and it’s an easy way to get people thinking the wrong thing.” The officer looked exasperated. This area was usually rough, and they’d dealt with punks pulling crimes in broad daylight, so the moment they heard shouting, they’d rushed in and forced their way through.
Who knew it was just a misunderstanding.
The whole thing left the officer at a loss. He stood there with a dark expression, sighed for a while, then finally said more evenly, “You two are newlyweds—what’s there to fight about? Give it time and you’ll realize how hard it is to make a life together.”
The officer was a bit older and clearly didn’t know who Lu Yubai was. Speaking like someone who’d been there, he added, “Go home and live your life.”
“...” Qiu Anan forced a stiff smile and apologized again and again. She’d never felt so humiliated. Once they finally saw the officers off, she couldn’t help shooting the man beside her a glare. “Look at what you did.”
“Shut up!”
Lu Yubai’s face was livid as he shot her a look, then got back into the car. When he saw the door hanging broken, the vein in his forehead practically popped. “Get in.”
“Why?” Qiu Anan stayed where she was, still rattled by what had just happened. Even if they were married, Lu Yubai’s behavior had scared her. “I can go back on my own.”
“You’re coming with me to get the car fixed.” Lu Yubai’s jaw was tight, the words squeezed out through clenched teeth. “My patience is limited.”
