C4 She is the one

It was already getting late but Adrian was still busy with some works in her office. Damien glanced over at her from his office. He absentmindedly smiled at her.

"She's pretty hardworking." He thought. Why does he feel so attached to her whenever he looks at her? Like he had met her before. Like they have been close before.

He suddenly decided it was really getting late and they both needed to head home. He stood up and knocked slightly on the glass door partitioning their offices.

She looked up, sighting her boss. Good thing she wasn't trying to hide her face like before anymore.

"You're really hardworking." Damien complimented with a smile as he walked towards her.

Adrian's face flushed and Damien didn't miss that. He rested his hands on her desk and peered closely at her. She tried to look away.

"I think we should head home now." he muttered softly.

Adrian glanced around in surprise.

"So it's already this late!" She mused in amazement. The load of work had caused her to loose track of time.

She could only nod shyly at what Damien suggested. She began to pack the files on the table.

As she did so, one of them dropped to the ground and the both of them darted at the file to pick at the same time. As a result, their heads collided mildly.

"Oh! Sorry about that." Damien quickly apologized and they both burst into a little round of laughter.

They stared at each other for a while, without uttering a single word. Then slowly, Damien reached for her face with his.

He got closer and closer and they were both feeling the heat between them. But suddenly, Adrian swerved her face aside.

"We have to get going." She muttered as she picked the files and stood to her feet. Damien also stood to his feet and rubbed his palms on his pants.

"Alright, let's go." he said, and they both made their ways out of the office.

Damien volunteered to give her a ride home but she refused, saying she would just call her friend to pick her up. But in reality, she actually didn't want her boss to find out she was living in a hotel. That would be a awkward news for the first day of work.

Damien was forced to leave without her while Adrian dialed Avery's number, hoping she would pick her up. Luckily she picked up and agreed to come along.

When she arrived with her boyfriend's car, she didn't hesitate to narrate all that had happened on the first day of work.

"Are you telling me they made you work on the very day you got hired? " Avery quizzed surprisedly.

"I'm telling you girl, I wasn't even given a day or two to prepare." Adrian added.

"Wow that's really off." Avery said as she made a right turn on the road

"And you know what's more intriguing, my boss is actually–" Adrian dragged her words unintentionally. She felt unsure whether to tell this to Avery or not.

"Is actually what?" Avery asked out of curiosity.

"My boss is actually the Prince Charming I told you about!" Adrian blurted abruptly and Avery instantly lost balance of the vehicle. She was lucky to quickly take control again. There was a moment of silence in the car.

"Sorry about that, you just gave me a shocker".

"I know, right. Wonder how my life could get any more miserable." Adrian said with her voice getting lower. She sighed and rested her head on her palm facing out the window.

Seeing her friend's sudden change in demeanour, Avery said "Hey, just know I'm here for you okay" she reached for her friend's hand and interlocked them together. Adrian looked into her eyes closely and couldn't help but think about how Avery has been a blessing for her all her life. They were both orphans but Avery was more vigorous and persistent than she was.

The two friends switched to a different topic as they drove to their abode.

That night when Damien got home, he had ignored Selena's greetings totally, as usual. He just went to his bedroom and slipped into his bed with the thought of Adrian filling his head.

Even though Selena had tried her best to seduce him, he would not budge. She eventually had to just give up.

Adrian on the other hand couldn't get her mind off her new boss. It was unbelievable to think that she would meet him again.

Was it a coincidence that they had crossed paths again?

And although Adrian didn't want to him to know her, she felt a bit downgraded that the very person who had fucked her couldn't even recognize her. It pinched her heart a bit and those were the only thoughts she had till she fell asleep.

"Shit!" Adrian cussed under her breath before dashing into her bathroom. She had woken up late this morning. She hurriedly brushed her teeth, took her bathe and dressed up shabbily before checking out of the hotel for the day.

She boarded a cab to work. She was very well sure Avery would have headed for her own workplace. The latter doesn't believe in lateness.

Immediately she got to work, she met the H R manager lashing angry words at a few other staffs.

"Why would you arrive late to work when you have an important presentation this morning, what if the clients had arrived early?" The large bosom woman yelled at the two petite ladies before her, who winced continuously like they were been flogged with whips.

Adrian immediately felt a lump in her throat. She was late also. But she didn't have an important presentation that morning.

Wait, why was she even afraid of this woman. As the secretary of the C E O, shouldn't she be of a higher position than an ordinary H R manager? She wasn't sure about that as she thought this company might have another unusual ranking. To her, it already had an abnormal lunch period.

Mustering up some courage Adrian walked over to the woman. She felt the woman's gaze on her as she walked past and she wished to be swallowed up by the ground.

"Miss secretary, you're early" she heard the woman say. She wanted to be relieved but she thought that she might mean it sarcastically. Not until the plump woman asked.

"Your work commences by 10 am, didn't you know?" Adrian now had the privilege to feel relieved. Here she was thinking that she was late for work, meanwhile she was actually very early.

She turned to the woman and smiled warmly at her.

"Oh, actually I have some important work to finish up. Thanks–". She lied and her voice trailed off when she didn't know the woman's name.

"Melinda." The latter told her.

"Melinda." Adrian repeated and continued towards her office.

She didn't meet Damien there yet. She presumed that it might be because she was early. She used this opportunity to finish up some work that she wasn't able to do the previous day. Seems she wasn't lying about that to the H R woman.

Damien alighted his exotic vehicle and walked towards his company's building. As he made his way into the building, several greetings and pleasantries echoed around him.

"Good morning Sir"

"Good morning boss"

"Morning sir"

He didn't reply them all though, he didn't need to. He was the C E O, well acting CEO to be precise. His father hasn't bestowed the position upon him yet.

He went to the conference hall where he met with some clients. They wanted to purchase some of the company's shares. He chatted with them and after some business agreements and negotiations, they all watched a presentation from two of his staffs before he headed to his office.

As he was about entering his office, he heard racing footsteps from behind him. He turned to see Astrid, his bodyguard, pacing hurriedly towards him.

He was panting heavily like he had just finished a mile race.

"What's wrong?" Damien questioned curtly, already irritated by his actions.

"Sir–ah– the– oh– lady" Astrid began breathlessly.

"What lady?!" Damien couldn't take this anymore, he bellowed coldly at him.

"The– lady that was missing, that's– her." he said, pointing to the direction of Damien's office.

As if expecting it to be someone else, Damien turned to his office. And there she was, his beautiful secretary, innocently typing away at her computer, immersed in her duties.

Damien couldn't believe his ears and eyes. This very lady was the same lady he had fucked without even knowing her. No wonder he felt so attached to her, no wonder he felt so familiar with her.

She was the one!
