C5 Prepare for tomorrow

Damien was still shocked at the puzzling news his bodyguard had revealed to him. He couldn't believe she was the same girl he had unconsciuosly slept with. That explained why he had been feeling so attached to her ever since he had set his eyes on her.

He was currently on his seat, in his office before his laptop. But he couldn't get his eyes off her, he couldn't get enough of her. Her beautiful short black hair, her thin and long eye lashes that stood above her wide eyes with golden pupils down to her rosy pink delicate lips. Those features alone were enough to endear him to her.

Suddenly, her face turned to him and he found himself swerving away his gaze to avoid her catching him staring.

Adrian stared at her boss and her face flushed instantly when she caught him staring at her. He was even cuter when he tried to pretend he wasn't looking.

Shaking her head, she realised she was already staring too much and she faced her work, lest she also gets caught by him.

They both continued with their various duties but with each of them stealing sneak peeks at one another. Adrian's face was literally burning red throughout the day.

Seconds ticked by, minutes rolled by and hours flee by, the day at work for Adrian was finally coming to an end.

She couldn't help but exhale joyfully with a super stretch. She had managed to finish up her day's work in time so she wouldn't have to wait extra hours like the day before.

She checked the time on her cheap silver wristwatch that had almost all the silver peeled off. It was getting late in the evening and most of the other workers were already beginning to leave.

Just as she was packing her stuffs, she spotted her boss, the C E O approaching her. On sighting the horde of files in his hand, she immediately cringed like those files were some kind of dangerous weapon.

Of course it was, a dangerous weapon of more work.

SLAP!

The large pile of paper landed on her table causing dust to fill the air. Adrian had to cough it all out of her mouth.

"What's this?" she asked with a disgusted tone, temporarily forgetting that this was her boss.

With a raised brow, Damien replied.

"Papers".

"What? I know, I mean–" Damien immediately cut her off.

"There are some important clients coming here tomorrow." he declared emotionlessly.

Adrian wanted to say something, but Damien was quick to continue.

"So I want you to look into this files and produce useful and convincing information they'll need. Their valuable clients, and I wouldn't want to lose them." He added firmly.

"What?" Adrian frowned within. "That's not part of my work, is it?"

She wasn't sure of what to think at the moment. She just nodded her head sluggishly in affirmation.

Damien left her front but stopped as he suddenly as though he'd remembered something.

"Oh, and remember to prepare me a speech, a nice speech." he said, making sure to emphasise his point.

Adrian's hand pinched her skirt tightly, and her teeth gritted coldly. She managed to nod.

She released a breath of dissatisfaction as soon as Damien exited the office. It was as though this man wanted to pressurize her on purpose.

Reluctantly, with the thought that the sooner she begins the work, the sooner she gets to go home, she began.

Luckily, it was all straight forward and in no time, she found herself packing up, ready to go home.

A pen slipped off the table and as she bent to pick it, she noticed how silent the entire office was. It was then she became conscious of her surroundings.

The classy looking office was now devoid of the usual staff and cleaners that usually roamed about.

"Wait, where's Mr. Gorgeous Grumpy?" She giggled at that nickname she had made up. Well, it suited him, she found him quite grumpy and he was obviously astonishingly handsome so the nickname suited him well.

She packed her stuffs and decided to look around if she could find him.

"Hello, sir?" she called but got no reply. She walked out of the office into the hallway. Although, it was bright and illuminated, she was starting to get a bit scared right now.

"Sir? You there?" Again she got no reply and she was beginning to get worried.

Where on earth had he gone?

She made a turn to another section of the hallway but she suddenly bumped into something, or perhaps someone.

"Ah!" her screechy scream resonated in the silent hallway as she slowly descended to the ground. But abruptly, something firm gripped her on her waist, stopping her from falling.

She looked up to see her one and only boss, looking down at her.

She stared at him back, mesmerised by his sheer handsomeness. The exotic smell of his masculine cologne filled her nostrils and she was speechless. As she stared back into his beautiful sea blue eyes, she got lost in them. The world seemed to revolve around the both of them alone at the moment and Adrian could feel their faces getting closer.

Closer and closer, she leaned in as she expected a marvelous contact of her life.

"Are you alright?". Her attention was instantly drawn out of her reverie back into reality. She quickly moved her face back and untangled herself from his hold.

"S-sorry I- I ah–" her face was burning red with embarrasement that she couldn't look at his face.

"Everything okay sir?" she looked up to see one of the security men at the end of the hallway. He must have heard her shout earlier.

"Everything is fine, get back to your position." Damien instructed and the man disappeared.

With the attention returned back to her, Adrian quickly suggested that she should get going.

When she got downstairs, she waited on the sidewalk for a taxi to come by. She waited and waited but none crossed by and thunder claps were beginning to echo above, a storm was on the way.

She then decided to get going by foot. She hadn't walked up to ten steps when a classic vehicle stopped by her side.

"You live around here?" a familiar voice echoed in her ears as soon as the side mirror rolled down.

She saw Damien giving her a cool manly smile from the drivers' seat.

She hesitated and looked around like she was contemplating on whether or not she should get in.

"You should get in, the rain is about pour." that was the last push she needed and she reached for the door and sat in the passenger seat.

As Damien began to drive on, silence reigned in the vehicle. Neither of them said a word to each other and they knew not what was in their various minds.

"So– why did you apply?' Damien asked, finally breaking the silence.

"Apply for what?" Adrian asked quizzically.

"The job".

Adrian raised her head in understanding.

"Well, I think the basic reason should be that I needed a job, I mean obviously, haha" she found herself bursting into a round of awkward laughter. The ice was beginning to break between them and they continued to have a long conversation till they finally got to the juncture of the hotel where Adrian stayed.

She didn't want her boss knowing she lived in a hotel.

Standing by the sidewalk and clutching her handbag to her chest, she stared at her boss in his vehicle.

"Well, I'll see him at work tomorrow then." he said as he reversed his vehicle back into the road.

She didn't move an inch until she saw the last of Damien's vehicle for the night. With a sigh, she turned to her temporary home to call it a day.
