C5 Professionism
There was one more thing... Her professional instincts kicked in. As the heir to a family of doctors, she couldn't just stand by and do nothing. After a moment of thought, Chi Rongyan gritted her teeth, grabbed the man's hand, and focused her mind, bringing him into her Spirit Spring space.
The Spirit Spring space had its perks; it could accommodate a living person. However, there was a downside: besides her, only one person could enter at a time, and there was always a time limit. If it weren't for these restrictions, she might have just hidden away in there and avoided everything.
Dragging the man into the space, Chi Rongyan first laid him on the bed in the small cabin, then turned to the yard to scoop a ladle of water from the Spirit Spring. The poison was mild enough that the spring water could neutralize it completely. She didn't need to waste time searching for herbs to brew a remedy.
After pouring the spring water into the man's mouth, he quickly regained consciousness. Seeing him awake, Chi Rongyan was about to send him on his way when she suddenly caught a whiff of blood. Looking closer, she noticed blood seeping from his chest. Strangely, she hadn't seen any blood there before. Could this be a new type of toxin?
Her curiosity piqued, Chi Rongyan momentarily forgot about the man's martial prowess and went straight to unbutton his shirt. The man's breath hitched, but Chi Rongyan didn't notice at all.
Upon seeing the black totem bleeding continuously, Chi Rongyan's eyes lit up with excitement. She first pressed a point on the man's body to stop the bleeding, then slipped a pill into his mouth. As the black totem began to fade, her excitement grew even more.
It seemed the man had been poisoned with a long-lost toxin known as "Hundred Deaths." As the name suggests, even a hundred lives couldn't withstand its potency. The fact that he had survived this long was truly remarkable. This was a living, breathing case study!
With that thought, Chi Rongyan looked at the man. "May I ask your name and where you live? I'd like to visit you often."
Seeing the man staring at her, she quickly added, "This toxin is so rare. I want to see how long you can hold on."
Xie Xuanmo: "..."
Chi Rongyan noticed his expression, scratched her head, and finally realized her abruptness. She took a step back and introduced herself formally, "Nice to meet you. I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Chi Rongyan."
"Are you the Third Miss of the Duke Mansion?" Xie Xuanmo gave her a cold glance. His expression was icy, but inside, he felt a slight stir. Over the years, he had sought out many renowned doctors for the poison in his body, but most couldn't even identify it. Those who could had no idea how to treat it.
Could this young girl, not even of age yet, really have a solution?
"Uh... I guess so."
Chi Rongyan initially wanted to deny it, but considering she now inhabited the original owner's body, she admitted it. Seeing that the man didn't seem inclined to question her earlier actions, she bravely asked, "Sir, when this poison acts up... do you lose all sense of reason and become bloodthirsty?"
As she asked, Chi Rongyan suddenly remembered something else. "But even if you do become bloodthirsty, you probably don't remember it. If this poison is what I suspect, you should lose a significant chunk of memory after an episode."
"That's right."
Xie Xuanmo glanced at Chi Rongyan again and asked, "So, how much longer do I have to live?"
