C5 Chapter Five

CHAPTER FIVE

I could not help but feel concerned about Scarlett (though I recently found out that she preferred to be called Scar); for the past month, since I told her the truth about what happened to my brother, Dante, regarding Leonard.. she has been wallowing in self-pity. She may have been adamant that they were only friends.. but what they have is clearly more than that.

I find women’s emotions very tricky.. so I sent either Freya or Lacey to her Bedroom to bring her meals and to talk with her.. but she has not been eating and her bags of blood have been left untouched.

Scar is leaving herself at risk of losing control of both of her Vampire and Werewolf instincts from letting such emotions run rampant.. and that is dangerous enough for a Werewolf let alone a Vampire.

If only this was my only issue to deal with in My Pack right now.. but I recently discovered photographs of Lacey and Leonard Storm’s sister, Allie. So, she had betrayed both me and my Pack as a spy for The Storm Clan.

She even admitted to dating Allie, although she was adamant that she had not betrayed me.

It is expected of me to show other’s what happens to spies.. I will have to kill her.

No amount of putting it off would change the fact that I would have to soon kill one of my friends.

It is times like this that I actually despise being an Alpha.

I sighed loudly, forgetting that I have company..

‘Are you listening to me, Alexander?’. My father, Timothy Bayou, spat coldly at me.

My father has a neatly shaved crew-cut, his white hair neatly smoothed with gel.

He wore a white suit with an icy-blue tie.

I frowned deeply at his cold gaze.

If he found out about My Pack’s issue right now then he would perceive me as weak and unable to control my members.

‘Apologies father, you were saying?’. I smiled kindly at him.

He scowled at me in response to my words.

‘You need to start taking your duties seriously, Alexander’.

‘I am. I invited you here, did I not?’. I scoffed at him.

My jaw clicked abruptly to the side, as he struck the side of my face with the back of his hand; I winced slightly at the stinging sensation that now enveloped my cheek.

‘Remember who you are speaking to, boy!’. He snarled, glaring at me.

I had to hide my shaking hands under my desk. I took a deep breath to control my spiralling anger towards him.

‘Very well father, what is it that you wish of me?’. I growled, through clenched teeth.

It was that precise moment that Scar came running into My Office, without knocking, interrupting my father from talking further..

My father turned his unpleasant scowl from my face to hers and I could genuinely feel more concern rising in my body, for her wellbeing.

‘Scar.. get out I am busy!’. I snapped angrily at her.

‘Please.. do not do anything about-’. I cut her off with a glare.

She let out a sad and shaky sigh, as she ran out of My Office.

My father then narrowed his eyes at me and I shrugged, pretending to act disinterested at her sudden arrival.

‘I came all this way to check on how your Territory was and to see you.. and all I see is chaos and overly lax Pack members. They are not your friends, you are to just keep them safe.. it is as simple as that!’. He growled, showing his irritation with me.

‘How the fuck are you supposed to be the voice of The Council and our rules, if you cannot even maintain the respect of your own Pack!?!?’. He added, angrily.

I scowled at his words.

I still remembered exactly how he led a Pack.. he was rarely even home to see any of his children.. my mother and his Beta did that.. he was too busy fucking around with the women he had on the side. Which made my mother a fucking laughing stock.

‘I am not you, nor am I going to treat my members so coldly. We live and we fight together.. and that makes us a family! Maybe you do not remember how that works’. I smirked slightly.

‘Are you trying to force me into striking you again, boy!?’. He narrowed his eyes, smirking coolly at me.

I crossed my arms and glared at him.

‘You really think I would allow you to hit me more than once in my own home?’. I scoffed.

He took a deep breath and then frowned at me.

‘It was stupid of me to accept your invitation and to come here’.

‘It was mother’s idea, not mine’. I frowned, avoiding his gaze.

He cocked his head to the side and in turn too, frowned in response.

‘That.. actually makes much more sense’.

‘Alright, let us pretend that THIS went well’. He added with an oddly kind smile.

I took a deep breath and then held out my hand politely; he raised his eyebrow but quickly shook my hand.

‘We should be civil more often, Alexander’. He scoffed.

‘Of course, father’. I smiled, a very small smile, but albeit a smile, nonetheless.

And with that my father, Timothy Bayou, abruptly stood up and gave me a small nod, before leaving not only My Office but My Pack House altogether.

I spent the next few hours dealing with the accounts from The Hospital, mainly the side that involved the supernatural side of it; it was better not to involve human accountants in such things.

Soon after, I would also have to deal with some accounts from the Apartments that I own.. but that can wait.. for now.

I frowned, feeling my mobile buzzing against my leg, in my pocket.

It has been going off like crazy for the past few minutes..

I reached down into my pocket and frowned at the screen as it lit up with five missed calls and two text messages.. all from Dante.

DANTE: There has been an attack, Alex. Scarlett is injured.. badly.

DANTE: She needs you.. but.. you should know that Leonard is here too so please DO NOT overreact, brother.

My eyes went wide and my whole body shook with anger..

I ran towards the Front Door, only to run straight into Freya, causing her to fall down onto the floor onto her ass.

She looked up at me with wide, shocked eyes; I shook my head and took off running, not even bothering to explain myself.

Scar was already so weak and frail-looking when I last saw her.

I ran into The Hospital with Kane and Drew following close behind me.

When I finally got to the ward that Dante was treating her on, Leonard stood alone with tears in his eyes.. but I did not care.

All I saw was my hatred for him. Besides, I promised him that if he or his Clan entered The Hospital border of my Territory then I would kill them.

I leapt at Leonard and punched him square in the face, repeatedly.

He did not even fight back.. he just took my punches.

Kane and Drew walked backwards, clearly disagreeing with my actions.. this only pissed me off more.

‘Fight back’. I snapped.

He just stared at me, unmoving.

‘Stop it both of you. Leo you need to get in here she called out for you… and brother be useful or fucking leave’. Dante snarled.

I did not dare look at my brother, I simply glared at Leonard.

Leonard looked at me and sighed between gritted teeth, holding out his hand in a temporary truce.

He growled angrily, as I spat at his hand.

I glared at him again and then I grinned menacingly.

‘It seems she needs us both, Leopard’.

Dante eyed us both, as we sat on opposite sides from Scarlett’s hospital bed.

I frowned at her pale body covered in wounds.. wounds from Werecats.

‘Leo.. you did not do this did you?’. Dante muttered.

Leonard threw his hands over his face in response to Dante’s question.

‘I should have killed him when I had the chance. I fucked up’. Leonard muttered into his hands.

I narrowed my eyes coldly in response.

‘Who?’.

‘Lorenzo Storm’. He grimaced.

I gasped in shock; we killed Lorenzo..

But wait.. did that mean that he lied about having attacked my brother?

I mumbled, still in shock.

‘He is dead, we killed him!’.

‘I lied, I got in contact with some Hunters, they took him and revived him.. I do not know how but they did something to him, which he blames me for’. Leonard spoke in a distasteful voice.

I stood up and grabbed him by the front of his shirt; I punched him in the face, again.

‘Damn it Alex, stop it!! I need you two to help her now’. Dante exclaimed in an annoyed tone.

Leonard grimaced and then sighed.

‘Dante, what do we need to do?’.

I glared at him in response.

‘Why would I trust an idiot like you, Scarlett is a fool to like you!’.

He jumped over the bed and gripped me up against the wall.

‘Oh and you, a womaniser, would be so much better!?’ He snarled at me.

Dante grabbed both of us by the hair and pulled our heads together; a low thud developed the room. It was not enough to injure us but was enough to pull us back to reality.

I winced slightly at the dull ache.

‘Leo, is it true you fed her before?’. My brother spoke to him quietly, enough that I knew that this was important.

I looked up at him in shock, cocking my head to the side slightly but Leonard just nodded to Dante.

‘That is good, because she will not be able to heal unless it is with somebodies blood that she has connected to’. Dante muttered.

Why did that make me feel jealous all of a sudden?

I shook my head at the thought.

‘What do you need from me, little brother?’. I smirked slightly, in an attempt to piss off Leonard and to distract me from my strange feelings.

‘Alpha Venom’. Dante sighed.

Leonard glared at me, clearly unhappy with the idea of my fangs piercing her skin.

‘Do not touch her’.

Dante sighed unhappily at our exchange.

I scowled slightly at him before muttering in amusement.

‘Say goodbye then, kitty-cat’.

Leonard sighed sadly.

Dante frowned at us both.

I could not help but feel amused at the hatred that I could feel in Leonard’s gaze.

‘It is important to do it at the same time’. Dante smiled.

With that, Leonard nodded to me, I then nodded at him in return.

We both approached her; as I bit into her collarbone releasing my Alpha venom into her bloodstream, Leonard bit into his wrist and let his blood enter her mouth.

Both of us glared at each other as we did this.

Our disagreement was simply not worth making Scarlett suffer more..

Dante let out a sigh of relief when Scarlett’s chest began to rise and fall normally, which had been very slow as the rate of her heart had been giving up. Her wounds began to heal up nicely in response to both of our abilities, as they hit her bloodstream.

‘You can stay with her until she awakens. I believe that is more than fair’. I frowned, as I eyed Leonard’s worried expression.

I may have disliked him.. but I am not completely heartless.

He looked up at me in disbelief.. but did not argue.. at all.

I smiled slightly as I stood up and began to walk away.. going out for a run to clear my head might actually do me some good.

Dante gave me a soft smile, as I passed by him.

He clearly approved with my.. surprisingly calm actions.
