C24 Good People will be Bullied

Yang Ling's parents' eyes bulged as they stared at their son, while Third Aunt was left speechless.

Silence hung in the air for a moment, making the atmosphere incredibly awkward.

Yang Ling took another sip of his Coke, his gaze fixed on Third Aunt with a composed ease.

This relative had a history of bullying them, and his family had endured much because of her.

His parents were simple and kind-hearted, and his sister was still young. Today, he was ready to step up and support his family.

Third Aunt was seething with anger. How dare this brat talk back to her and demand repayment? The very idea was intolerable!

She sprang to her feet and turned her rage on Yang Ling's father, Yang Jianjun, "We had an agreement. Why are you backing out now?"

"Since when does a child call the shots in this house? Do you even resemble a man anymore?"

Yang Jianjun took a swig of his drink upon hearing this. He was about to rise and respond, but Yang Ling pressed him back down.

He paused, feeling the firm yet gentle hand on his shoulder, a hand that commanded respect. Seeing the serene confidence on his son's face, he felt a mix of confusion and clarity.

His son was all grown up. The little hands that once clung to his were now steady and strong.

He had toiled his entire life, but he had managed to raise his son well. The realization brought a mix of sorrow and pride, and his eyes began to moisten.

He remained silent, taking another sip of his drink, but this time, the bitterness was gone.

Yang Ling then spoke up, "If my dad isn't a man, how did he have me and my sister?"

"Besides, isn't it usually the man who handles borrowing money? So why did Third Aunt come with her sister and brother in tow?"

"Looking at it this way, it seems my uncle is the one who doesn't quite fit the bill of a man."

Yang Ling was not one to be easily provoked. He had once boldly broken Tian Chaoyan's leg—there was no way he would let this slide.

His words were sharp, leaving Third Aunt's face contorted with displeasure. Meanwhile, her nephew, Lin Dong, leapt to his feet, fuming, "You say my dad's not a man? I dare you to say that again!"

"Bang!"

The sound of impact echoed as Yang Ling's palm shattered a corner of the dining table, sending dishes flying. He stood up abruptly, his voice icy, "What's this? You can dish it out, but you can't take it?"

He advanced toward Lin Dong, one deliberate step at a time. Once he stood before him, he enunciated each word with pause and precision, "Listen well. I said your dad doesn't act like a man. What are you going to do about it?"

His commanding presence radiated outwards, sending a shiver down the spines of all those nearby.

Fear gripped Lin Dong as he came face to face with true malice for the first time.

It was only now that he remembered his cousin, roughly his own age, had once single-handedly taken down three armed serial robbers!

With this realization, Lin Dong's entire body shook uncontrollably. As he met Yang Ling's daunting gaze once more, he collapsed to the ground.

From his elevated stance, Yang Ling surveyed his cousin and then turned his attention to Third Aunt. Seeing the fear etched on their faces, he knew he had achieved the desired effect.

He let out a contemptuous snort and declared, "Out of respect for our family ties, I'll let this slide."

"But if you dare insult my parents again, don't expect me to hold back!"

The old adage held true: good people are often taken advantage of. His family had always been too trusting, but now, the tables had turned.
