C9 Buying a Car

Lin Hao didn't want to break her heart, but...

"I knew this would happen!"

He sighed, "The truth will come out soon enough!"

"Zhou Ya is your close friend, practically your bestie, but remember, Uncle Lee is family too. You need to weigh the pros and cons carefully!"

Tears brimming in her eyes, Qin Sisi looked at Lin Hao and said, "I... I get it!"

"Hehe, let's keep this under wraps for now. You can manage that, right?" Lin Hao chuckled.

Qin Sisi remained silent, offering no response to Lin Hao's question.

Lin Hao himself wasn't entirely sure if sharing the truth with her was the right choice.

The situation was far from simple; one misstep could spell trouble for more than just one person.

"Just drop me off downtown. I'll find a place to take a break," Lin Hao requested.

Eventually, they went their separate ways on the street. Watching the sports car drive away, Lin Hao let out a sigh.

"Enough, overthinking it only leads to more headaches," he mused with a wry smile, shaking his head.

He was about to hail a cab when it dawned on him that he might need to buy a car. With more places to go in the future, relying on others for rides wasn't going to cut it.

For someone who had lived frugally for so long, having a little extra cash sparked the desire for a taste of the nouveau riche lifestyle. And that meant picking out a top-notch car.

Lin Hao ultimately decided to visit a luxury car dealership.

The showroom boasted an array of high-end vehicles, from BMWs to Lexuses and Jaguars—nearly every prestigious brand you could name was on display.

"Hello, how can I assist you today?"

A tall, elegant woman in a professional suit approached with a welcoming smile.

Her smile was disarmingly charming, exuding a warmth that was hard to resist.

Caught off guard by her friendly demeanor, Lin Hao took a moment to collect himself before replying with an embarrassed grin, "I'm looking to see if there's a car that suits me."

"Sure thing!" the saleswoman replied with a smile. "Do you have a particular type in mind?"

"Or any specific requirements for the car? What about price range and intended use?"

"A vehicle in the 200,000 to 300,000 yuan range, preferably an off-roader!" Lin Hao said with a grin.

The attractive saleswoman responded with a smile, "Well then, let me recommend a brand-new SUV to you. Here's the latest Mercedes-Benz GLA. It's not as rugged as a pure off-road vehicle, but it's quite impressive for city driving!"

"Also, there's a current promotion. If you opt for the luxury edition, the total cost comes to just 350,000 yuan!"

After the saleswoman finished, Lin Hao nodded in agreement. "That's the one for me!"

"You're certain?" she asked, somewhat bewildered.

She had encountered her fair share of high rollers in this setting, some of whom would buy multiple cars in one go. Yet, it was a rarity to find someone as decisive as Lin Hao.

"Absolutely, do I seem like I'm kidding?" Lin Hao replied with a chuckle.

"Wow, got your head in the clouds, huh? Coming here pretending to be the big shot. Aren't you scared of being kicked out?"

The voice that followed was all too familiar.

Lin Hao shuddered and turned around, stunned.

Lee Ruolan's alluring figure came into view, flanked by a man and a woman. The man was none other than Lee Ruolan's beau, the same scoundrel responsible for Lin Hao's previous beating.

The woman beside him was unfamiliar to Lin Hao, dressed like a siren. While Lee Ruolan was clad in a chic, short dress with lace details, the other woman sported a strappy bustier top with a short skirt and fishnet stockings.

Approaching the saleswoman, Lee Ruolan gave her a disdainful once-over and snickered, "Nice choice. But aren't you biting off more than you can chew? Do you really think you stand a chance with such a beauty?"

Her remarks were clearly directed at Lin Hao.

She then turned to the saleswoman with a forced smile, "Honey, don't be naive and fall for this guy's act!"

"He's barely getting by himself, let alone affording a car."

"My guess? He's taken a fancy to you and is trying to grab your attention with this stunt. He's waiting for the moment you see him as a wealthy man, ready to swoop in!"

The saleswoman's cheeks flushed at these words, but she contained her anger and asserted, "I'm not one to be swayed by money. He's a customer, and if he says he wants to buy, then I trust him!"

Lin Hao was taken aback; the words caught him off guard.

"Look, you're after a sale, right? Well, it just so happens I'm in the market for an Audi A3. Give me the rundown on the car and fetch me a coffee, and I might just place an order!" Old Wang strolled over.

In reality, he was merely a junior manager, and a few hundred thousand was no small sum for him.

Lee Ruolan's face brightened at his words. She hurried over to Old Wang, linking her arm with his. "Oh, honey, I thought you were just here to look. What made you decide to buy?"

"And anyway, I'm not a fan of the Audi A3. It's too cramped. How about... you treat me to an A4 instead?"

Old Wang turned to Lee Ruolan with a grin, playfully flicking her nose. "Silly girl, this car's for Xiao Ou. She's my secretary. She can't be taking the bus to work, can she?"

"Don't worry. If you've got your heart set on an A4, I'll make sure to get you one soon enough!"

Lee Ruolan sulked, "Hmph, always 'in a little while'!"

Her face was a canvas of discontent, and she cast a resentful glance at the beauty known as Xiao Ou.

Xiao Ou's face was etched with a smug smile, radiating the aura of a victor.

"Pssh, I wouldn't be caught dead in that lousy A3. A person of my caliber deserves at least an A4!" Lee Ruolan declared defiantly.

Truth be told, she felt a twinge of envy. Old Wang had promised her a car time and again, yet never followed through. Even though it was just an A3 worth a couple hundred thousand, she would have been overjoyed to receive it, despite her verbal complaints.

"Oh, sure, you just keep waiting," Xiao Ou taunted with a laugh.

Fuming, Lee Ruolan jostled Old Wang's arm. "You, look at her..."

"Enough, enough, no more bickering!" Old Wang turned to the saleswoman. "Hey, are you not listening? I'm here to buy, not to dawdle. Get on with the presentation!"

The saleswoman felt a surge of frustration at his words. She was itching to let loose a tirade. What was the big deal about buying a measly A3, anyway?

Regrettably, the individual in question was a customer, and her professional integrity demanded that she quell her rising anger once more.

As she was about to approach, Lin Hao at her side suddenly grabbed the person's arm with a swift motion. "I'll take the car now, as is!"

With that, Lin Hao presented a bank card.

The beautiful saleswoman was taken aback for a moment.

Lee Ruolan, already seething with nowhere to direct her fury, lashed out at Lin Hao. "You jerk, what chaos are you causing? You..."

"Silence!" Lin Hao snapped back with an icy tone. "You come here, throwing baseless accusations at me, and for what? How does my car purchase affect you in the slightest? If it's a matter of money, why not swipe the card and see for yourself?"

He paused, his gaze shifting to Xiao Ou, settling on her abdomen with a mocking smile. "As for you, choosing a loser is your business, but to not notice him playing the field right under your nose—that's on you for being oblivious!"

"It's only fitting that a jerk compensates the woman carrying his child with a car. But you... you've plastered yourself to me, offering nothing but empty words and unfulfillable promises!"
