"Darn it!"

Chen Yu silently cursed to himself, instinctively ready to make a preemptive strike against the mutated wolf beast on the platform, unaware of his presence.

The human nature in the apocalypse is a force to be reckoned with!

Particularly for this man, fated to be prey after being captured by the mutated wolf. Upon realizing his dire situation, the faintest glimmer of hope could drive him to take extraordinary actions.

Chen Yu's eyes widened in shock. The voice had directly infiltrated his mind!

In a flash, Chen Yu recognized this as a rare ability among the Awakened. Such individuals could send messages straight into the minds of fellow Evolvers using their psychic powers!

And it was impossible to block or intercept!

While these Awakened might lack formidable combat abilities, they were invaluable to a team.

This was especially true for large survival bases, where the role of such unique Awakened could outweigh that of a more aggressive combatant.

Chen Yu's gaze fixed on the man, a wave of regret washing over him.

If the man's wounds weren't so grave, Chen Yu might have been able to save him, but...

The injuries were far too severe. Without a healer among the Awakened, no modern medical technique would suffice, and Chen Yu didn't even have a simple painkiller to offer.

"Do you have any last words?"

Chen Yu asked with a sympathetic tone in his thoughts, confident the man could hear him. He also understood that since the man had warned him, he wouldn't risk exposing Chen Yu.

"There are survivors at X Supermarket, trapped by zombies. I hope you can rescue them!"

The man's voice echoed in Chen Yu's mind. Though telepathy couldn't convey emotions, Chen Yu could still sense the dense layers of longing, desperation, and hope in his plea.

Chen Yu felt deeply stirred. Even in such a state, the man's thoughts were on saving others...

"Perhaps he has loved ones there," Chen Yu mused. Yet, his response was, "Brother, I'm sorry, I can't head there right now!"

"The mutated wolf pack is heading straight for my camp—I have to eliminate them!"

"Leaving in haste would be a mistake; if they stumble upon my camp, many will die!"

"Once I've handled them, I'll make my way to X Supermarket."

Even though Lee Hao, Liu Qiqi, Soong Yue, and Chu Chenhao, survivors from the neighborhood, had awakened their abilities, ordinary mutated beasts and zombies no longer posed a threat.

But this mutated wolf pack was a different story. A tribe of mutated beasts with awakened members was not so easily dealt with.

Especially since within this pack lurked the Wolf King, an even more formidable awakened mutated beast.

Lee Hao and the others had just enough strength to barely hold their own against the Wolf King's two awakened wolf beast lieutenants and the other common mutated wolves.

But if the Wolf King joined the fray, their deaths were certain!

The survivors in the district, whom we had fought so hard to save, wouldn't stand a chance!

Chen Yu was well aware of his own capabilities and understood what mattered most.

His aim was to save as many as possible, but not at the expense of those already under his protection, who shouldn't have to bear unnecessary losses.

Of course, Chen Yu wanted to rescue the survivors at X Supermarket!

But not by putting the survivors in his district at risk.

So, Chen Yu's priority was to take out the mutated wolf pack first, then rescue others!

If this meant the survivors at X Supermarket perished, Chen Yu would have to offer his apologies from the depths of his heart.

"Are you confident you can take down the Wolf King?"

A man's voice interrupted, but before Chen Yu could respond, the man declared, "I'll help you!"

"Take care of X Supermarket, please!"

The next instant, to Chen Yu's amazement, the man's eyes blazed with light.

As the man's eyes flickered like spotlights, a fearsome and invisible shockwave blasted outward, instantly engulfing the gravely wounded Wolf King and his two awakened wolf beast subordinates.

Chen Yu was spared from the brunt of the mental onslaught, experiencing only a fleeting blankness in his mind.

"Now's the time!"

With a ferocious roar, Chen Yu's energy exploded, sending white streaks radiating outward.

In a flash, he burst through the window and charged out of the building.

Ignoring the awakened wolf beast writhing in agony on the rooftop, Chen Yu's legs coiled with pent-up power, propelling him with terrifying momentum deep into the alleyway.

Deep in the alley, the wolf king of the mutated wolf pack lay on the ground, convulsing.

Already gravely injured and unexpectedly struck by a mental attack, the wolf king was as defenseless as a wolf pup with its belly exposed.

"Die!"

In the span of two breaths, Chen Yu had charged above the wolf king's head. With no hesitation, he clenched his fist and brought it down with the force of a thousand pounds.

At the critical moment, a flicker of lucidity passed through the wolf king's pale beastly eyes as it attempted to roll over and fight back.

But it was too late.

Boom!

A fearsome power slammed down with ferocity!

Dust billowed, sending countless stones flying, accompanied by the cacophony of shattering windows and doors.

Whoosh!

Moments later, a fierce wind swept through, clearing the lingering dust.

Chen Yu and the wolf king emerged from the settling haze.

With an icy expression, Chen Yu dropped the wolf king's nearly obliterated head.

Seizing the fleeting opportunity presented by the man's last burst of mental strength, Chen Yu executed the wolf king in one swift move!

The awakened mutated wolves, regaining consciousness, witnessed their king's demise.

Their crimson eyes zeroed in on Chen Yu.

Two gray shadows lunged at him.

"Come on, let me usher you to your end!" Chen Yu sneered coldly, vanishing from sight as streaks of white energy sliced through the air.

With the most formidable wolf king dead, the two awakened mutated wolves were no match for Chen Yu.

Three figures collided and entwined in an instant.

Boom! Bang!

The alley echoed with the sounds of exploding rocks and the heavy thuds of flesh colliding.

But within mere moments, all fell silent.

Together, the two awakened mutated wolves couldn't withstand even seven of Chen Yu's punches.

This was only because their abilities—concealment and wind blades—made Chen Yu, wary of injury, hold back from a full-on brawl.

Had he not been concerned about getting hurt, Chen Yu would have surely ended the fight within five punches in close-quarters combat.

Chen Yu pulled out three ability crystal nuclei and slipped them into his pocket before approaching the lifeless man.
