Today, she had a rare chance to have some time and water. So, Tao Yao was extravagant. She took out a bowl of noodles from her space and planned to cook a bowl of noodles for herself. After the pot boiled, the fragrance rushed to her face. Tao Yao was so excited that her eyes were filled with tears. The greed in her stomach was also aroused. Her stomach, which was not very hungry, began to grumble non-stop.
After the noodles were cooked, Tao Yao gave the Babao some and then picked up the bowl and wolfed it down.
It was fragrant. It was really fragrant.
Tao Yao drank the last mouthful of soup in the bowl and sighed with satisfaction. She glanced at a black figure who was looking around.
The cat had been hiding in the rusty iron bucket when she was cooking noodles. It stared at the pot with some pity, but in the cruel post-apocalyptic world, everyone lived in water and fire. So, Tao Yao put away her insignificant sympathy.
Tao Yao turned her eyes away as if nothing had happened and brushed the pot. Then, she boiled the water that she had just obtained.
Although the water that seeped out of the ground was not polluted, it had not been disinfected. There must be bacteria and microorganisms in it. She did not want to drink some small animals into her stomach.
When the water was boiled, it would kill the microorganisms. A hundred degrees Celsius boiled water could basically eliminate the bacteria and reduce the damage to the human body.
After the water cooled down, Tao Yao put the water back. The water was sparkling and translucent under the sunlight.
"The bathwater should be ready. I'll go take a look." Tao Yao put away the pot and walked to the door with quick steps. She tested the water temperature with her hand. "Mmm, just right."
Tao Yao put the basin on her head and walked into the house. Closing the door, she quickly took off her coat and washed herself with the water. The water in the basin instantly turned black.
"Ah! Is this what I use? How is this possible?" Tao Yao looked at the dirty water in front of her and then looked at her own white arms. The doubt she had just now was instantly thrown into the sky. Her mood was unprecedentedly good, feeling that she had reached the peak of her life.
"Let's go!" Tao Yao held the long saber in her hand and led the Babao impatiently. This factory was deserted, and she was almost claustrophobic alone.
Tao Yao stepped out of the rusty iron gate and looked at the endless barren land. She wanted to cry but had no tears. Where did she come from?
This place was very desolate. The ground was mostly sand and stones. Occasionally, there were a few grass that struggled out of the ground. There were no signs of human habitation.
Tao Yao walked in the desolate land with the Babao in a dejected manner. Time passed by, and the sun began to set. Suddenly, the sky was filled with multicolored light, and it was as beautiful as a painting.
Tao Yao could not help but stop and quietly stared at the magnificent sunset. She did not move for a long time. This scene reminded her of Wang Wei's poem: "Lone Desert Smoke, Long River Setting Sun."
She had moved to the city with her parents a long time ago. She had seen the sunset in the concrete city, but it was different today. The sunset had a majestic beauty.
The sun slowly set, leaving behind a golden light. Tao Yao continued to rush along with the light. She had to find a place to rest before nightfall.
About ten minutes later, the scenery in front of her finally changed. The land was no longer barren, and a few acres of farmland appeared. However, the soil was too barren, and the plants were not growing well. There were only a few stalks of corn, about half the height of a person, and the green leaves of the corn swayed with the wind.
Looking at the corner a hundred meters to the left, Tao Yao's eyes lit up. She quickly walked forward and picked up the bigger stones and earth, throwing them away. She also cut a few half-human-sized weeds from the side of the field and laid them on the corner. She picked up some long wooden sticks and placed them on the wall, leaving a hole for her to crawl into.
Tao Yao took out a small blanket she had received from her home and laid it on the ground. She also covered herself with the down jacket. This small nest was hidden and warm. She looked at her masterpiece with satisfaction.
Tao Yao took off her shoes and looked at the soles of her feet. No wonder it hurt so much. It turned out that her feet were covered in a shiny bubble, and it hurt the moment she touched it.
Tao Yao took out a small knife and used alcohol to dispel the poison. With the help of the moonlight, she broke the bubble and squeezed out the water inside. She sprinkled some white powder of Yunnan on it. The entire process made Tao Yao grimace in pain.
After dealing with the wound, Tao Yao laid down in the warm bed. She was in a good mood. There were no zombies roaring here, and there was no stench in the air. There was a feeling of peace and quiet. After a while, Tao Yao hugged Babao and fell asleep.
The next day, Babao woke up early in the morning and moved around uneasily in Tao Yao's arms.
"Good boy, don't move. It's still early. Let me sleep for a while more." Tao Yao closed her eyes and muttered in a muffled voice. The comfortable environment made Tao Yao feel as if she was still at home. She unconsciously brought her habit of staying up late to mind.
After Tao Yao finished muttering, Babao stayed still like a good boy. After a while, he couldn't stay still any longer. He secretly ran out of Tao Yao's arms and came to the wall. He suddenly jumped to the back of the wall.
"Meow!" The black cat was so scared that its hair stood on end. He immediately ran to the wall.
Babao's trick succeeded. He looked at the black cat proudly and barked, "Wow!"
Tao Yao was woken up by the heat. She stared blankly at the sun hanging high in the sky. She was stunned for a moment before she remembered where she was. She got up and put her down jacket and blanket into her space. She then crawled out of the corner and stretched.
She walked to the front of the field and looked at the obviously malnourished corn. She sighed with pity and said, "Ah, it's your bad luck. It's a pity that the sweet corn is gone."
After a long while, Tao Yao felt that something was missing, but she couldn't remember exactly what it was. When she saw the messy plum blossom footprints on the ground, she slapped her forehead and remembered that Babao was gone.
"Babao, Babao..."
Tao Yao had only shouted twice when Babao wagged his tail and ran over happily from afar with a small tail behind him.
In the blink of an eye, the Babao arrived in front of her. It stuck out its tongue and crawled towards Tao Yao. Tao Yao's face was ashen as she ignored it.
The apocalypse was so dangerous. The fat Babao was raised by her. What if it was caught and stewed into dog meat soup by someone with malicious intentions? She wouldn't even be able to cry. Therefore, Tao Yao felt that it was necessary to let the Babao know that it was wrong to run around like this.
Feeling that her master was angry, the Babao rubbed its tail against Tao Yao's body and looked at her pitifully. It whimpered softly and looked pitiful.
Tao Yao raised the Babao and looked into its eyes. Although she knew that it didn't understand, she still said solemnly, "Don't run around like this next time. Be careful not to be stewed into dog meat soup."
The Babao barked. Tao Yao pretended that it understood and rubbed its head. Then, she put it down and continued on her way.
Tao Yao brought the Babao through the corn field and walked for another hour. When she saw a village in the distance, she happily walked towards it. There should be people in houses.
She didn't know where she was now. How far was she from the West Wind Base? It would be troublesome if she went in the wrong direction. Therefore, she had to ask someone.
