C3 Deal

Kate wasn't sure how to react to this new piece of information but her father spoke on. "Once Alessa had told me everything that happened during the bid, I placed a call to him and he invited me into his mansion for a tea session and maybe lunch today. Since the Miller family only deals in investment, they don't actually need the cell tower. Hopefully I could offer them something in exchange."

Kate wasn't sure whether or not she should be happy with a possible solution to the crisis but every time the Miller Family name was mentioned it gave her the 'ick!' They literally singledly controlled a huge chunk of most of the industries including a huge portion of the bank she was indebted to.

"I guess I won't file for bankruptcy till you come back," Kate spoke in a less exciting tone.

"I guess I have been too busy playing your father that you forgotten how awesome I am!" was her father's comeback.

Kate chuckled. "Right, good luck! I still have to call Alessa."

Although Kate wasn't keen with the Miller family being involved, she still hoped the meeting with Grandpa Miller went successfully and they were able to get the cell tower back since her life literally depended on it.

Mr Luke, Kate's father was of course given a grand welcome into the Miller family Mansion but he had to wait an extra ten minutes before Grandpa Miller was able to grant him an audience.

As the energetic aged man with a bald head and white beards approached the lounge where Mr Luke had been waiting for him, he initiated a conversation. "You should visit more often. Most times, it is only me and my little rascal of a grandson in the Mansion."

Grandpa Miller paused, and then with a hand gesture said, "Come let's head towards the dining area!"

Once they were sitting across of each other in the dining room. Mr Luke quickly spoke. "Actually I am here to offer you a proposition you might be interested in, in exchange for the cell tower your Grandson recently purchased..."

Grandpa Miller instantly burst out into a chuckle. One of the reasons he hitchhiked with this man Mr Luke was because of his straight forwardness.

Kate spent the greater part of her day talking with Alessa on the phone but she was also tempted a number of times to place a call to her father to see how the meeting was going.

She was finally able to let out a breath of relief immediately her father came into the house with a clear smile playing on his face.

Expecting an interrogative session with Kate, Mr Luke quickly pulled out a bunch of documents before sitting across her.

"These are all the legal ownership documents pertaining to the cell tower."

Kate let out an uncontrollable scream obviously in excitement, pulling her dad in for a hug at the same time.

In the next minute however, her excitement died down when she pulled away from her dad's embrace to look at him. His expression told that he still had something to say.

Of course, she didn't expect the Miller family to give out anything free. What was the catch? That was definitely what her dad was about to tell her…

"Well, I always knew that Grandpa Miller was looking for a bride for his grandson so I offered you plus seventy percent stake of the company in exchange for the cell tower…"

Kate instantly froze on the spot. She didn't know which part she was mostly upset about. Was it her father offering seventy percent of the company she had basically put her life into growing to where it currently was? Or was it her father giving her hand in marriage to the person she hated the most now?

Seeing that Kate was too angry to even react her father quickly chipped in.

"It is just an arrangement. I had to save the company… Lucas could have the marriage dissolved, you know, all you need to do is to provide him with a reason to do so. We have the cell tower now. But then if you come to think about it, it isn't all that bad marrying him, he is handsome and you will be marrying into a billionaire family…"

"Justin is still my fiancée!" She reminded her father. Had he forgotten about him? Really?

"Well, it's not been made public yet. And not to mention, you told me that both of you haven't spoken for months."

Kate couldn't help but give her dad incredulous gaze. "That is because he is out of the country."

Since it was basically useless in bickering with Kate, her father instantly pulled out another file. "Well, unm, we arranged a date between you and Lucas tomorrow morning so have your schedule cleared."

Kate still couldn't still believe what had just happened as her father walked out on her. How the hell was this even happening to her!

***

Lucas was being escorted back into the Mansion. He was already used to his grandfather suddenly calling and asking to see him at such short notice so he didn't think much of it. He unhurriedly made his way towards his Grandfather's room where the aged man was having a cup of his favorite tea.

"Grandfather you called me."

His grandfather hummed, and then started to speak, putting down his teacup. " I guess it was a right move, having you buy the cell tower…"

Lucas couldn't help but wonder where his grandfather was headed in his conversation. Leaning on the wall, he tucked his hands into his pockets leisurely.

"I found you a bride. She is the one you were stuck in the elevator with.. Kate… her father came in offering marriage in exchange for the cell tower."

Lucas expression instantly turned sour. How did his father even know he had been stuck in the elevator with Kate? Well, the man did have eyes everywhere. But what did he mean by Kate being his bride?

Observing his grandson's countenance quietly for a while, grandpa Miller finally spoke again. "You ungrateful rascal! I gave you a couple of years to find a bride of your fitting but you failed in such a simple task. You made me do this! Just get married to her for the short time I have left. I guess we won't be speaking of this conversation again."

"But…"

His grandfather interrupted him when he tried to protest. "There is a file on the bed right there. Everything you need to know can be found there. You may leave once you are done."

Lucas could only sigh dejectedly before making his way towards the bed where the file was lying. There was no point arguing with his grandfather.

"So basically you will be marrying Mr handsome and you don't have to pay any cent of the loan you took, in addition to future liquidity. I still don't get why you have been mad for the last hour?"

Kate was literally stunned by Alessa words. She literally had been pouring her heart out for the last two hours and this is what she got in return?

"Forget it! It's no point getting you to see reason! Just begin with the installation of our equipment tomorrow and make sure to have everything test run before we begin with large scale advertisement."

"Don't worry, I got you covered so just enjoy your date."

Kate immediately disconnected the line, muttering a curse under her breath.

The more she assessed the whole situation, the more she couldn't help feeling like she had to apologize to her dad and thank him. The cell tower was theirs now. Her father had done what he did for her sake. It must not have been an easy decision for him, considering the fact that he was way too protective of her… At least, the company wasn't going bankrupt and they wouldn't have to pay the loan. She had the option of convincing Lucas Miller not to go through with the arranged marriage. Everything would be fine now.

It took less than a minute for Kate to find her Dad in the living. "If you are really coming to apologize for earlier, you better come with your own bucket of popcorn. I'm not sharing mine."

Kate chuckled, quickly snuggling her way into his arm before speaking "I am sorry about earlier."

He sighed, running his hand over her dark curls. "I know. So what are you going to do about Lucas?"

"That's easy…"
