C13 thirteen
I reluctantly got up from lying down because my head was throbbing so much that I didn't want to drink, damn it. It's so annoying every morning!
Unknown Number:
Good morning.
Unknown Number:
Drink more water.
Unknown Number:
What time is your shift tomorrow? It's your day off today, right? So, stay at home and rest, huh?
Unknown Number:
Baby...
Unknown Number:
Text me back if you're already awake.
I shook my head in disbelief as I realized who it was and left the phone on the bed.
I didn't know if he was really going crazy. Even though I wanted to believe in what he was saying, I didn't because I knew he loved someone else more. If it's true that I caught his attention the first time we met, well, then that's where I'll stay, just within the grasp of his attention.
"I'm leaving, I'm going to visit our house, Mama is asking me to come over. It's too far from here, so I might come home late," Mawi said as she drank the water she brought.
I nodded. "Where's Angel?" I asked, scanning the room.
"She went grocery shopping, she didn't want to wake you up because she said you can handle it. She just left," she replied without enthusiasm.
"Alright, take care," I reminded before sitting on the sofa.
She rolled her eyes. "As if I won't," she replied sharply and picked up her sling bag from the sofa.
Sometimes I don't know if this girl's attitude is intentional or what. Sometimes she's too noisy, sometimes she's too snappy. Red days?
"Okay," I replied calmly.
I felt my heart skip a beat again. Is there a tiny heart here or what? I really felt it!
"Alright, I'm leaving! Lock the door when I'm gone,"
I just nodded, not feeling like lounging on the sofa, so she rolled her eyes again before leaving for good.
I looked up at the white ceiling.
I took a deep breath.
After a few minutes of staring blankly, I got up to drink some cold water.
"Wait!" I irritably shouted when I heard continuous knocks on the door.
"What are you doing here?" I asked irritably.
"You're already awake, why aren't you replying?" he asked.
I chuckled. "Hey, the way you're asking, it's like we're in a relationship, huh? Can you stop acting like my boyfriend," I said irritably.
It's like my words were a slap in the face.
I sighed.
He sighed.
I was about to close the door, but he immediately stopped me.
"Then can I court you?" he straightforwardly asked.
Yes!
I shook my head. "No," I replied emotionlessly.
"Why?" He pouted.
He stood up straight, and only then did I realize he was holding a bouquet of flowers.
"You still love your ex, isn't that reason enough to refuse?" I asked with raised eyebrows.
He sighed. "Give me a chance, ever since I brought you to Ben's birthday... You didn't let Akia think anymore because you took over everything,"
I rolled my eyes! Here again! His flowery words.
I looked closely at his pleading eyes.
"I don't care," I replied calmly.
I immediately avoided his gaze, but he tried to catch it.
"Here," he said, handing me the flowers.
I sighed. "There's no need for that because I won't entertain someone who still loves someone else," I said seriously before turning away.
I didn't close the door because I didn't want to be rude. It's up to him if he wants to come in and try to convince me further or not.
"I know it's too fast, but I'm really going crazy thinking that at any moment, another guy might surpass me and get your attention. Give me a chance,"
I raised a brow. "Oh? So you just don't want to be outdone? You don't want your ego hurt? Is that the message you want to convey?" I crossed my arms over my chest.
He shook his head. "No, of course not. I mean, I don't want to go crazy,"
He straightened up as I remained seated on the sofa, and he tried to hand me the flowers he brought. I let out a deep sigh before rolling my eyes. It's too rude if I don't accept them.
He shrugged. "I'm going crazy thinking that another guy might make you smile the way I want you to smile. I'm going crazy thinking that I won't be the one to make you smile,"
"Then just be a clown," I retorted.
"Baby..." he called out pleadingly.
I adjusted my sitting position and rolled my eyes at his call.
"Drop that word 'baby,' don't call me that," I said irritably.
"Alright... Selene, please give me a chance," he pleaded.
I almost panicked at his sudden move to sit beside me. It's as if he was doused with cold water because of the surprise.
He chuckled. "Is that how much you hate me?" he asked sadly.
I didn't respond, and now he's avoiding eye contact and clenching his jaw.
"Have you had breakfast?" he asked without enthusiasm.
I nodded slightly, it's still early but I don't feel like eating knowing that I'll have to cook for myself.
"Sit down, I'll cook breakfast for you. What do you want to eat?" he asked with a serious tone.
"Huh? No, it's okay," I declined.
It's embarrassing! Damn it!
"Just tell me, what do you want?" he asked seriously and stood up.
You... but it's not allowed... but it can't... because I don't want to get hurt.
"No need," I repeated my refusal.
He sighed and looked up at the ceiling.
"Selene, please tell me. You need to eat," he insisted.
He walked towards the kitchen, it's not that big of an apartment so even though I'm in the living room, I can see the kitchen.
"Up to you," I surrendered.
I went upstairs to my room and grabbed my phone on the bed.
