Unknown Number:
Baby, Wake up, You need to eat breakfast.
Unknown Number:
I'm on my way to your apartment. I missed you, I really do.
I was about to put my phone down when it vibrated again.
From: Relydeah lang malakas
Hey! You dummy, when you're online, call me on messenger. Work harder, you'll get fired by Mother haha.
I rolled my eyes after reading my sister's message. Just wow.
To: Relydeah lang malakas
HAHHAHAHAHA are you laughing like a duck? Seriously? Haha? Okay, I'll call you in a bit.
I grabbed my laptop and went downstairs, bringing my phone with me as I left my room.
I caught Cyrus still with his back turned, busy cooking, probably unaware that I was already in the living room.
"What?" I asked irritably at my sister.
I'm not rude to her, we're just like this. We've always been like this, kind of like best friends, and at the same time, we treat each other as siblings because there's not much age gap between us.
She laughed. "What 'what'? Can't I even get a good morning from my sister?" she teased.
"Wow, really? What was that earlier? Calling me a dummy right away? Didn't you even say good morning, sister?" I retorted.
She just rolled her eyes, which made me chuckle slightly. I also noticed Cyrus sneak a glance at me from the corner of my eye, so I turned to him.
I raised an eyebrow as he smiled at me and gestured not to mind him because he was just cooking.
"You really are a dummy. Damn, you're in trouble, someone saw you at the hotel where you're at the front desk. You're in trouble with Mom, she told you not to work anymore, you're so stubborn," she warned.
"If Mom hears you cursing, you're in trouble too," I fired back.
She chuckled. "Mom! Dad!" she called out, looking around. "Yoreh is calling!" she shouted.
Cyrus glanced again because of my sister's shouting. Well, he's not deaf to not hear that.
"You're ugly, sis," I teased.
She gave me a dirty look, and I saw Mom and Dad peeking at the screen.
"I've told you many times not to work, right? Is your brain backwards? As long as we're alive, we'll provide for your needs, I don't want you to be bothered by work and sacrifice your studies because of money. So stop it, resign from your job because I'm not happy," Mom yelled at me.
I bit my lower lip to stop myself from speaking. I might end up going back to Cavite sooner than expected.
"You're too much, Claire, speaking like that right away to our daughter," Dad said. "How are you in Qatar, dear?" Dad joked.
Cyrus laughed slightly at what Dad said, and I also chuckled, but it stopped when I noticed the furrowed brows on the screen.
"Why does he seem like a guy?" A mischievous grin appeared on my sister's lips.
"Who's that?" Mom asked.
"Do you already have a boyfriend, dear?" Dad asked seriously.
I shook my head. They weren't strict; in fact, when I was still with my ex, Josh, I even introduced him to them, and I was so proud. I feel sick whenever I think about that now.
"Elio," I called him.
He opened his mouth in shock and pointed to himself, so I nodded. He quickly approached and sat next to me.
I prefer Elio more.
"Hello, My name is Cyrus Elio, and I'm Yoreh Selene's suitor," He proudly announced.
I bit my lower lip, it feels like it's going to bleed any moment now.
"Oh," Mom said in amazement and even covered her mouth.
"He's such a handsome young man," she praised. "Yoreh, play hard to get, don't answer him even if it's obvious he's courting you," Mom joked.
I pouted and rolled my eyes.
"Wow," my sister teased.
"Why are you wearing an apron? Are you cooking for my daughter?" Dad calmly asked.
I immediately looked at the guy next to me who had a big smile and nodded. Damn, if I get to see this face every morning, I hope it's always morning.
"Yes, sir," Cyrus replied with a smile.
Dad nodded in agreement.
"Are you serious about our daughter? Because if not, don't continue courting her," Dad reminded.
"You might end up with me," my sister threatened.
I'm so touched!
"Are you in good terms?" Mom asked curiously.
I shook my head.
"Why not?" My sister asked.
Wow, she even knows English now.
Cyrus turned to me with a tired look, explaining with his eyes, but hell, I don't care.
"He's still in love with his ex," I firmly said.
He sighed, massaging his temple, glanced at me.
"Baby..." he called out softly.
I saw their exchanged glances on the screen upon hearing Cyrus's pleading voice. I just rolled my eyes when I saw that my mom and sister seemed more thrilled than me.
"If I still loved him, I would be at the airport right now, stopping him from leaving, but look, I'm here," he softly explained.
"As if that would stop you," I replied without emotion and rolled my eyes.
"What time are you coming home, Cyrus?" Mom asked, changing the topic.
It seems like they know where our conversation is heading.
He smiled and looked at the screen. "I'm with your daughter when she's with me, I'm fine like I'm already home,"
