"Can I ask now?" Angel asked.
I looked up at her. Even though I wanted to shake my head, I didn't. She's my friend, and I know she'll help me.
Because I'm so confused.
"He's courting me," I confessed. "But I don't know if I should give him a chance. When we first met, he was broken, and we've only known each other for about three weeks. Is that possible? He said the first time he saw me, he was immediately drawn to me and he might be going crazy," I rambled on.
She placed a plate in front of me because she cooked adobo.
"But it's obvious to everyone that there's something between you two. Especially the way you talk to him. You both acted so strangely earlier; first, he seemed jealous, then you. Maybe you just don't want to give him a chance because of his past," she took a deep breath and smiled at me. "Who knows if what he's saying is true? Maybe you're the one he loves now, and you're just the one left in his past, but he's moved on,"
I fell silent because of what she said.
"You know, that's the problem with us. Especially with you, you have every right to doubt because he's an ex. He loved her the way he loves you, or even more. But just because of that, you shouldn't take away the chance of being happy together,"
"I'm afraid again that he might leave me in the end," I reasoned.
I adjusted my sitting position and looked at her carefully. I put rice on my plate, and she did the same.
"But if you love him, you need to take the risk," she said seriously.
Yeah...
"I'll give him a chance," I said.
She looked at me seriously. "Give him a chance because you want to, okay?" I nodded.
I really do.
I can't deny it anymore.
And the length of time before you develop feelings for someone isn't a basis, right? It might be too fast, yes. But once you fall in love, even if it's faster than the rotation of an electric fan.
Once you fall, you fall.
I just remembered when I asked Merls, one of my friends back in high school.
I asked her if she believes that someone can fall in love instantly, and she answered that maybe it's just a crush? Infatuation.
Merls said it's just a crush.
Those kinds of things.
But we're not kids in elementary or high school anymore. We're already college students! So I can't call this infatuation!
They said love recognizes no barriers.
I straightened up because of the sudden vibration of my phone, a sign that someone called.
"Let me just answer this," I told Angel.
She nodded. "Sure,"
I stood up and grabbed my phone. Only one unknown number came to my mind. I was sure my heart was pounding because I knew it was him.
"Hello?" I answered.
[I just finished taking a bath. What are you doing? Hmm?] He softly asked.
I bit my lip!
"Um... I was about to eat; Angel cooked," I replied.
I glanced briefly at Angel, who was busy eating.
[Then eat first. I'll call you back later,] He said.
I pouted; I can multitask!
"Okay, bye," I agreed.
[Alright... I love you,] He sweetly said.
My lips were almost bleeding because of how much I smiled. I jumped up and punched the air, so Angel looked at me. I took a deep breath, calmed myself, and spoke.
"I love you too," I replied and quickly ended the call.
I continued jumping, and now I was screaming!
"Fudge!" I screamed in excitement.
"Fudge! Fudge!" I screamed again like crazy.
Angel laughed. "Wow, you're so silly. Calm down!"
I immediately followed her advice and calmed myself. I returned to my seat and smiled as I reached for the water and took a drink. I tried to calm myself, but I still felt my heart pounding so fast, I thought it might explode at any moment.
"I'm so thrilled,"
"It's pretty obvious," she chuckled in response.
I glanced at my vibrating phone repeatedly.
Unknown Number:
Selene, I love you more.
Unknown Number:
I love you with my whole heart.
I lowered my head and covered my face with my palms before I screamed loudly.
"Hey!" Angel scolded me playfully.
I looked up at her as she stood up and glanced at her phone before she playfully pulled my hair.
"It's you!"
I felt like crying from overwhelming happiness. I've never felt this way before! Only now!
"Am I still going to eat? I'm already full with his sweet words," I joked.
She rolled her eyes. "Wow,"
I laughed at her response.
I didn't reply anymore; I might have a heart attack from being too happy.
