C19 nineteen
"I adjusted the strap of my pink sling bag before turning to my friends.
"How embarrassing!" Mawi muttered irritably.
I also told them that Cyrus and I will just go together since we have the same shift and I'm leaving anyway.
Angel laughed. "Oh come on! Let's go," she urged.
I just shook my head as I walked out.
Today, I'm just wearing ripped jeans and a white long-sleeve shirt. I'll just hand over this resignation letter I made because I called Ms. Faith yesterday. I thought they might ask me to stay until they find a replacement for me, but they said they already have someone so it's okay.
I glanced at Cyrus who waved at me with a big smile. He leaned against his car, running his fingers through his hair.
He's just wearing black khaki shorts and a white T-shirt. So simple yet so attractive! He bit his lower lip when I stopped in front of him.
"Let's go," he said.
He opened the front seat and gestured for me to get in. Without hesitation, I got in. He also opened the back door for my two friends. They even gave me mischievous smiles.
"In fairness, such a gentleman," Angel poked me teasingly.
I rolled my eyes and glanced at Cyrus, who turned to let us all in.
"Have you had breakfast?" he asked me.
I nodded as I turned to him.
His side profile is not a joke!
"Yes," I replied simply.
"What about you guys?" he asked my friends.
My friend laughed. "Of course! Why wouldn't we?" Angel retorted, her face full of confidence.
I glanced at Mawi, who had her eyes closed, looking tired probably because she got home around midnight.
Cyrus chuckled lightly at Angel's response. I looked at him as he focused on the road.
Without hesitation, I scrutinized his face. He's in a side view, allowing me to see how straight his nose is, his deep eyes, and the beautiful shape of his lips. He clenched his jaw, so I looked up at his eyes.
We locked eyes for a moment. Did he think I fantasize about his lips? He caught me staring at them, so I shyly looked away.
"Have you talked to Ms. Faith?" he asked.
His gaze remained on the road, occasionally flicking to me.
I nodded. "Do you know Ms. Faith?" I curiously asked.
"Yes," he replied simply.
I fell silent and nodded because I didn't want to ask how he knew her.
He glanced at me and smiled. "By the way, I told Mom and Dad that I'm courting you, and they want to see you again,"
My lips parted as I looked at him with wide eyes.
He pouted. "They asked if we still see each other, and I told them yes because I'm courting you," he explained.
"Okay," was all I could say.
I adjusted my seat and leaned my head against the car window. I could still see the towering buildings, luckily it's not too crowded today.
"Is everything okay?" he asked.
I nodded before unfastening my seat belt.
"Yes," I replied with a smile.
His parents are nice, so I don't have anything to worry about them. I was just surprised by what he said.
"You sure?" he asked.
"Yes," I replied, chuckling.
He's nice enough to introduce me to his parents, so I don't think there's anything to worry about. I was just caught off guard by what he said.
"You sure?" he asked.
"Yes," I replied with a smile.
He laughed. "Okay,"
We got out of the car, so I turned to my friends.
"Alright," I said with a smile.
"Okay!" Mawi said. "Hey, Cyrus, thanks! Take Yoreh home safely," Mawi teased.
"Oh come on!" Angel retorted.
So I playfully hit her.
"Okay, I'll go see Ms. Faith now," I said.
My friends immediately turned away from me and hurried into the hotel.
I glanced at Cyrus, who turned his head to look at me with a smile on his face. I immediately laughed at him. He straightened up and put his hands in his pockets.
"Let's go, you have to reach it so we can go on our date," he said.
I nodded and started walking. He quickly caught up with me. Some people greeted him. Some even looked at him, probably captivated by his presence. Who wouldn't look at him? He's wearing something so simple yet so attractive.
"Stay here," I said to Cyrus.
He's about to go inside.
I rolled my eyes. "Are you the one resigning?" I sarcastically asked.
He immediately laughed at what I said.
"Sorry, okay, I'll wait for you here," he said, smiling and leaning against the wall.
I pouted. "Okay,"
I went inside and smiled at Ms. Faith.
"Ms. Faith, I'm really sorry for the short notice," I apologized.
She shook her head and chuckled. "It's okay, there are a lot of applicants here so it won't be difficult to find another employee,"
"This is my resignation letter," I said.
I placed the white envelope containing my resignation letter on her desk.
