C2 two
"Okay!" I sarcastically said and made a thumbs-up gesture.
"Are you leaving before me? You clock out exactly at 5 PM, and I'm not done until 5:30. Will you wait for me, or will you go home ahead of me?" she asked before putting food on our plates.
I glared at her. "There's only a 30-minute difference; most likely, we'll leave together,"
She let out a thin laugh. "Oh, wow!" she said.
I continued eating while she kept talking. She was recounting how many guests there were last night, which made her tired from going back and forth. I just nodded along as I ate. When we finished, I was the first to shower because she said she would wash up, and I would be the one to wash and cook dinner later.
I looked at myself in the mirror and saw my reflection. I was wearing a white fitted skirt above the knee, a white suit, a black sleeved top, and black 2-inch heels. I smiled at the satisfaction. I approached my wristwatch, necklace, and earrings placed on my study table.
Angel kept chattering away as we walked to the bus stop. She even asked why the wheel turned. Why I was breathing. All nonsense, but I couldn't help but laugh at her ridiculous questions that I knew were just meant to annoy me.
We stopped walking and took shelter in a waiting shed where a bus was waiting. The hotel we were going to isn't too far, but since we're in the Philippines, we'll likely spend a lot of time in traffic. We quickly got on the bus that stopped.
"Here we go again," I said annoyed while running my fingers through my hair when the bus stopped because of the traffic.
"You better get used to it, Yoreh. Getting stuck in traffic is part of our daily routine," Angel lazily said with narrowed eyes.
I just rolled my eyes in irritation. Seriously? Is there really no solution to this?! Well, Welcome to the Philippines.
"I'll wait for you later. Go ahead to your quarters," I said when we entered the hotel, thanking God.
Angel looked at me, holding a hand over her chest. "Ow! I'm touched. Alright, good luck!" she said and waved her hands before turning around.
As Ms. Faith instructed me yesterday, when I arrive here, I should go straight to where the Front Desk clerks are. I had a small sling bag with me that I placed in the small cabinet under the table.
"Are you Yoreh Selene Antares?" a petite girl asked.
I looked at her as she looked at me. Her face clearly showed curiosity. Is she nosy?
I smiled and nodded. "Yoreh Selene Antares, and you?" I introduced, gesturing with my hand.
She shook my hand. "I'm Mawi Bernadeth Roscova. You're really pretty," she smiled. I know.
I smiled. "Are you gossiping about me behind my back? Who are you?" I asked, puzzled but also amused. I let out a soft laugh when I saw her surprised by my question.
She pouted. "Earlier, I overheard some of the bellhops saying that Ms. Faith was interviewing someone. They said the person was beautiful, so it must be you because I don't see any new faces here, and you're beautiful!" I nodded and smiled. I felt like she's also a working student because it's obvious we're the same age.
"Uh, thanks for the compliment," I said shyly.
As I expected, what we did was easy. I just verified guests' reservations, and if there were none, I quickly created one. I accepted credit cards, handed out pass cards, and addressed their concerns. Sometimes, Mawi helped me with the responses. I also watched and listened to how she entertained the guests, so I got some ideas. I skipped lunch because I wasn't hungry. I just went out of the hotel to get some fresh air, but I quickly went back because instead of fresh air, I was breathing in smoke. I was fixing my posture when a woman approached me.
I smiled. "Good Afternoon, Miss. How can I help you?" I asked while standing straight.
"I would like to meet Mr. Cyrus Lavilla. He's not answering his phone," she said while repeatedly looking at her wristwatch.
I smiled and nodded. "So his name is Cyrus Elio Lavilla," I said while looking at the record book. Room 26029. "Sorry, Miss, but based on our policy, we cannot provide information about his stay here, but here's the telephone, and you can call him using it,"
She nodded, and I connected the number to room 26029. She called right away, and I think there was still no response. I wanted to ask, but I held back.
"Still no response," she said annoyed. "I'll leave a message,"
"Sure, just write it down on paper, and here's the pen," I said, handing her the pen and paper. "I'll just give him this message, Miss."
She smiled and wrote. I watched her as she wrote, and when she finished, she thanked me before turning around and leaving. My shift was almost over. Sometimes I just spaced out because why not?
"Oh my god!" I heard Mawi's giggling, so I looked at her.
I immediately looked at what she was looking at. A man distinguished by his charisma and manly posture stood in front of me, smirking. He raised his brows when he noticed that I was staring too much.
He chuckled. "I am Cyrus Elio Lavilla from room 26029. Is there any bullshit message for me?" he asked while touching his lips.
It's like he's enticing me with every glance. I swear if all the male guests here are like that, I might as well go to work naked. I swallowed hard. In my 20 years of existence! Just now I'm confused! What do I look like now? Am I pretty good enough?!
