C53 fifty three

I was still greeted by some people as I entered the canteen. Although I wanted to meet their gaze and smile back, I couldn't. I was nervous.

I bought all sorts of things because they didn't specify any particular food.

Other students helped me carry the food.

I saw him in the distance.

Even after all these years, he's still captivating to look at. I wanted to just not proceed with handing him the food and instead ask other students to do it, but I gathered my courage.

"Thank you!" I thanked those who helped.

They smiled, "You're welcome, Ms. Yoreh," they said before turning away.

I swallowed nervously.

"The food is here," I announced to the workers.

I arranged the styrofoam containers on the table.

I discreetly glanced at Cyrus, who had a manly stance while looking at the building. He had his back turned to me, so he didn't know I was staring at him.

I slightly bowed my head and looked away when he suddenly moved and walked away.

Where was he going? Was he really not going to eat? Maybe he'd miss his meal!

Other workers quickly approached me, thanking me one after the other for buying food, so I smiled at them and said it was alright.

"Water?" I offered.

"Thank you," they nodded.

I smiled back.

"Yoreh?"

I immediately looked up. I covered my mouth when I saw Sai's face. I looked around.

"Sai, Wendrix, Hugo, Izi, Jake, and Ben?" I pointed to them.

They all smiled back.

Cyrus wasn't there.

"So, you're teaching here! If I knew, I would have requested to be assigned here!" Ben said jokingly before hugging me.

I hugged him back and patted his back.

They all hugged me before I smiled back at them. They even messed up my hair, so I gave them a stern look.

"Cyrus, Bro! Yoreh's teaching here! You didn't even tell me?" Sai said with a laugh.

I glanced at Cyrus, who was carrying a child. I didn't know why I smiled. The kid was cute! My gaze then landed on the woman clinging to Cyrus's other arm, smiling back at me.

"Hello, I'm Yoreh," I introduced myself and extended my hand.

I smiled, but she seemed surprised by my gesture. I'm happy for Cyrus and her.

"Uh, I'm Liane," she introduced herself and shook my hand.

I nodded and turned to the child in Cyrus's arms.

"Hi Baby..." I smiled and squeezed her chubby cheek.

"What's her name?" I asked Cyrus.

I swallowed nervously when he gave me a serious look, as if my question offended him. I turned to Liane.

"Celia is her name," she answered with a smile.

I nodded, "Hello Celia, I'm Aunt Yoreh," I introduced myself.

She smiled back at me, widening my smile.

"Why did you leave Cyrus, Yoreh? You two could have had a child,"

Liane coughed, so I gave Hugo a look.

I slowly breathed out as I realized if I hadn't left, would we still be together?

"Past is past. I'm Cyrus's past while Liane is his present and future. I'm happy because I know Cyrus is happy," I replied with a smile.

They looked at me with furrowed brows, analyzing my expression.

I forced myself not to frown as my chest suddenly tightened.

"It's nothing, it's just a shame. Cyrus loved you so much before! What a waste, Yoreh. You wasted Cyrus!" Jake said meaningfully.

I bit my lip, Yes, it was a waste.

They nodded knowingly, and I smiled weakly.

"Mommy!"

I immediately turned around to see where the familiar voice came from. I smiled when I saw Sophie running towards me.

"Baby!" I called out to her before kissing her cheek.

She stopped in front of me and pulled me, almost dragging me.

"Papa's here! Let's go! Lola is already waiting for us!" She screamed hysterically.

She pulled me again.

I glanced at Samuel, who looked displeased as he watched us from behind. I knew he was looking at Cyrus because of his hostile gaze.

I scratched my head and approached Samuel. He raised an eyebrow, so I avoided eye contact. He immediately picked up Sophie before looking at me.

I nervously grabbed his arm and shook my head.

He nodded, "Let's go," he said.

I smiled at Sai, who was still looking at us with a smirk. I gave them an apologetic smile; I wanted to introduce Sophie, but I couldn't.

I started walking.

I smiled at Sophie when she smiled back at me.
