C55 fifty five
Her gentle and beautiful face hasn't changed at all. I wonder why she cheated?
I lowered my head, feeling extremely guilty as she spoke, the truth evident in her words.
"I'm sorry if you two broke up because of me. I just badly needed his help at that time, and I understand your side too," I said, lifting my gaze to her. I brushed the hair away that fell on my cheek.
"When you left, he was unrecognizable. Always lost in thought and couldn't converse properly. He couldn't eat because he had no appetite. Almost all of us who were his friends, including Auntie and Uncle, he couldn't bring himself to talk to. He always locked himself in his room," she said sadly.
I immediately felt a tightness in my chest, as if something was blocking my throat. I quickly averted my gaze.
We were the same.
Exactly the same.
"Even speaking was difficult for him," she stopped. "That time, we realized that he loved you the most," she said softly.
She smiled and held my hands. "You're the reason why it happened. But you're also the reason why... Why he... Why he survived," I looked away. "We told him that if he gave up, what would happen to you?"
I furrowed my brow at her words.
She quickly looked away and bit her lip to stop herself from speaking. She signaled to a waitress who brought water for her and offered some to me as well.
I straightened up and looked at her.
"Thank you," I scratched my nape. "For telling me the truth,"
I smiled.
"Does chasing him seem like a good idea?" I asked out of the blue.
She was surprised by my question, so she adjusted her seat. I reached for the glass of water in front of me and took a sip.
Does chasing him seem like a good idea?
If yes, why not?
I guess now I need to make the move.
I was hurt, but he was hurt too.
I left him, he tried to hold me, but I didn't stay. So he let me go.
She smiled. "If you love him, then go chase him," she nodded. "I loved someone, that's why I didn't chase him when we broke up. I cheated on him, but Cyrus? He deserves to be chased,"
She smiled again, but in her smile, I felt that she wanted me to go back to Cyrus. That she wanted me to chase him.
We're on the same page.
I also want to.
"Mommy, where's my ice cream? Mama is getting mad because you said you'd come back, so I didn't finish my food," Sophie complained.
"Akia, this is Sophie. Sophie, meet Aunt Akia, she's my friend?" I wasn't sure either.
Akia raised an eyebrow, looking back and forth between me and Sophie.
"She's my niece," I explained. "She's my sister's daughter. She's just used to sometimes calling me Mommy or Mommy Tita," I explained with a shrug.
She nodded. "Oh, hello, Sophie," she greeted.
Sophie waved at her. "Hello!" she said cheerfully.
"I'm the owner here. Do you want ice cream?"
Sophie nodded. "Yes, I want cookies and cream flavor,"
Akia raised her hand, and a waitress approached immediately.
"How many servings?" she asked me.
I raised my index finger. "Just one for Sophie,"
She nodded and signaled the waitress. "One serve, cookies and cream,"
The waitress nodded and walked away.
"You should go back to your mom's table now," I said to Sophie. "Aunt Akia and I are going to talk," I added.
"Okay," she replied.
I turned to Akia, who was now sitting properly, and smiled at her.
"My son's birthday is the day after tomorrow," she proudly said. "Can I have your number? I'll text you the venue and time. I didn't bring any invitations with me,"
"You have a child too," I said in amazement. "Sure," I said, handing her my phone.
She took out her phone and copied the number on my phone's screen.
"Give it to your child," I pointed to where Sophie was sitting.
The waitress nodded eagerly.
"Okay, I'll go back inside. I need to check on the new employees," she bid goodbye.
"Sure! See you again," I waved.
She waved back. "Alright,"
I smiled as I walked back to our table.
I will chase him.
I will chase Cyrus.
If this is the most reliable way to get him back, then I'm willing to chase him.
I'm willing to swallow my pride, no matter what, just for him.
I'm willing to take a risk for him.
I'm willing to beg for him.
I'm willing to stay.
I'm willing to make him stay.
I want to be with him because he's my sun, and when he's lost from me again, I might not be able to survive and endure the pain again.
