C59 fifty nine

I didn't respond because of how they were acting, isn't it obvious?! Isn't it obvious that I'm chasing after Cyrus?! Would I ask for his cellphone number if I had a boyfriend?! So-called registered nurses and civil engineers, yet lacking common sense?!

The party had started, and I was laughing hard because of the MC's jokes. I wanted to approach him and give him a big laugh.

There were also games, usual kids' games. I really felt like a kid! I even wanted to join the kids' stop dance! Ah, I missed being a kid.

"These are for you," I said as I placed three shanghai rolls on Cyrus's plate.

He didn't even look up at me. I felt like I was talking to the air because he was completely ignoring me.

"Don't you want some juice? I'll get you some if you want," I offered.

He still didn't acknowledge me; instead, he started eating and just glanced around.

He didn't even throw me a single glance.

"What about you guys? Do you want some? I'm getting some for myself, join me," I turned to Wendrix.

They exchanged looks, seeming unsure if they should agree or not.

Since they didn't answer, I took it as a sign to stand up.

I stood up, adjusting my dress momentarily because it fluttered a bit from the breeze, causing the hem to sway.

I swallowed and brushed my hair aside. Some people were smiling at me, so I smiled back at them.

I wanted to approach Akia and her child on the other side, but they seemed busy talking. They'll probably come over to our table later, as she said.

I asked for two glasses of juice.

"Thank you," I smiled at the person who handed me the juice.

She smiled back, "You're welcome."

I nodded and started to walk away.

I smiled at Jake and Hugo who were looking at me as I walked back to my seat.

"Here," I said as I placed the juice beside Cyrus.

I immediately sat down and placed mine as well. I looked up at Cyrus, who seemed oblivious to his surroundings. He even smiled at people who passed by and smiled at him.

I just continued eating, occasionally glancing at him. I could feel the discomfort from our tablemates.

I wonder if I wouldn't be here in this seat if I wasn't with them? Surely Akia wouldn't leave me alone.

I looked at Akia, who was now walking towards our direction.

"Hello, Are you guys okay here? Do you need anything else or what? By the way, This is Prince, my son," Akia said, turning to me.

I stood up and carried Prince. He's chubby, and his cheeks are about to burst! His eyes are beautiful too! Akia and his husband have good genes!

"Hello, Baby Prince," I said with a smile to Prince.

He giggled slightly and looked around.

"Here, this is a gift from Aunt Yoreh," I said, trying to hang the handle of the paper bag in his hand.

It's not too big or heavy.

I tried to make him hold it, but his palm remained closed, so I chuckled and turned to Akia.

"Your baby is so cute! Here's my gift to him. It's not expensive like other gifts he'll receive, but it's okay. At least I gave a gift," I said with a laugh.

Akia laughed, "It's fine, thanks," and took the paper bag I handed him.

I immediately looked at Cyrus.

"Cyrus," I called out with a threatening tone.

He didn't even look at me. The woman's arm was already wrapped around his, and they were completely ignoring me.

"Do you mind? I'm not in the mood to share right now," the woman said to him.

I glared at them. Cyrus was playing with the woman's hand, causing her to giggle.

Seriously? Are they really flirting with each other in front of me? And what? Babe?!

I looked away, feeling like my heart was being crushed by watching the two of them. I'm annoyed because why does it feel like someone is squeezing my heart again, slowing down my breath.

I want to cover my ears because every giggle feels like something is blocking my throat, making it hard for me to breathe.

I want to stand up and walk away from them, but I can't because my knees are weakening again.

I sighed, "Cyrus," my voice cracked.

My chest started to throb because of his sudden gaze.

He looked at me seriously. He was so serious that I didn't know if I could handle his stare.

"Can you please, don't pretend that you still own me?" he said sternly.

"Bro," his friends tried to intervene.

I bit my lip because his words felt like a slap to me.

He chuckled, "Because whatever you do, I will not go back to you," he said, running his fingers through his hair.

I bowed my head as tears fell. What's wrong with what I'm doing?

I just want us to go back to how we used to be!

"You're not in a soap opera or what! I won't come back to you after leaving me for years! Stop your nonsense!" he shouted in annoyance.

I immediately felt the attention shift to us. I squeezed my hand tightly because of the nervousness. He might say something even more hurtful.

"Cyrus, Stop it! Don't talk like that! You're embarrassing Yoreh," Akia scolded him.

I looked up at Akia and smiled. He patted my back to calm me down.

Cyrus crossed his arms and smirked at me. I held back my tears and sobs.

"Find another guy who you can't leave," he said firmly. "Because I won't come back to you, cause you?" He stared at me. "You're not worth the wait," he said coldly.

I bit my lip as tears streamed down my face. I felt my whole body going numb.

His words felt like sharp daggers piercing my chest.

I knew it would come to this point.

But I didn't know it would hurt this much.. that it hurts so much I don't know if I can bear it anymore.

"Hey, Be careful on what you wish for." I looked up at the person who spoke.

"Khalil," I almost whispered his name.

He grabbed my arm and stood up slowly.

Khalil..

He turned to Cyrus, still with a hint of anger on his face.

Khalil smirked, "Because maybe the next time we meet," he paused and planted a kiss on my forehead. "It will be at my wedding with Selene," he announced, smiling at me.

Under normal circumstances, I might have shouted at Khalil, but because he helped me reduce my embarrassment, I pulled him.

Anywhere we went because of my feet.

With each step, I feel like I'm stepping into the thorny things that every time I walk away, it hurts me.
