C180 Mothers' Relics

"This is my hometown. I'm just here to take a look." Ann Qianxi sighed with emotion as she stood in front of the door of the old house and looked at the dim interior.

Wang Ge blinked, but Ann Qianxi did not move.

After a long while, Ann Qianxi turned around and looked at him, saying, "Don't tell me you want to go in with me?"

"Then I …" Wang Ge was stunned. He thought he needed to go in with Ann Qianxi.

Ann Qianxi said without a doubt, "Wait for me in the car. I'll be back soon."

Wang Ge looked around and thought that no one was following him, so he went back to the car and watched Ann Qianxi enter the house.

The old, abandoned house was covered in dust, as if it was welcoming the return of Ann Qianxi, its young mistress.

Ann Qianxi saw a table and a chair that were familiar with each other in the room. The furnishings inside the room were simple and crude to the point.

She felt a sudden throbbing in her temples, and a dull ache in her head. She saw a little girl snuggling against a woman whose face was scarred and unrecognizable, but whose eyes were filled with gentleness. Her hands caressed the little girl's, rough but with the gentlest force in the world.

Ann Qianxi covered her sore eyes as an indescribable grief welled up in her heart.

It was a pity that this woman, the most gentle to her in the world, no longer existed in this world.

Ann Qianxi was killed by the disease before she could take her own life.

After a long while, Ann Qianxi finally calmed down. She let out a long breath and began to search around the room.

She hoped to find that woman, her mother, who had been left behind in this world. It would be better if she could find a photograph or something. She wanted to know if she really looked like her mother.

However, she searched up and down the floors, searching almost every room in her memory, but she could not find anything. Other than some old furniture, there was nothing else in this old house. There were no signs of human habitation.

Ann Qianxi stood at the foot of the stairs in the empty room, looking at the mottled walls, feeling lost.

Suddenly, something flashed through her mind that was hard to capture, and she realized that she had forgotten something important.

She hurried down the stairs to the wall she had been looking at. She reached out her hand to touch the wall. The mottled wall could not withstand her touch and dropped a few pieces of lime.

Those vital things seemed to have something to do with the wall, but Ann Qianxi could not recall it even after racking her brains.

A woman's gentle and loving voice resounded in her mind, "Mother hid the treasure that I left for Xi'er here. Xi'er, please don't tell anyone else."

Ann Qianxi saw the woman place something into the wall.

Before she could feel anything, she knocked on the wall and found that it was indeed empty. There was a secret compartment there.

She remembered that there should have been a painting here, but now it was gone, and the cracks in the wall were a good distraction.

It took Ann Qianxi a while to pull out the hidden compartment with her fingernail.

There were many file bags in the drawer. Ann Qianxi took out the dusty folder and opened it curiously. However, inside the folder, there were some rather awkward looking documents. The documents were all densely packed with data, making it impossible to read them.

She could only take out the documents, but there was still something underneath the folder.

Ann Qianxi picked up the object. It was a photo. There was a girl with a sweet smile on her face. She looked exactly like Ann Qianxi. But the picture was old and yellowed, and the woman looked a little more mature than Ann Qianxi.

This was a picture of her mother, Ann Qianxi was sure of it in an instant. She held onto a corner of the photo and thought back to the intoxicated scene she saw at Lee Xi's place. Those were probably not illusions but memories of her childhood.

At the bottom of the photo was a thin piece of yellowed folded paper. Ann Qianxi took it out and unfolded it. A brown paper envelope dropped down. Ann Qianxi picked up the envelope and first looked at the paper in her hand. She discovered that it was a hand-drawn map. There was no marked location on it. She only marked the destination in red ink.

Ann Qianxi examined the place over and over again, but still couldn't figure out what kind of place this was.

She opened the envelope in her hand. The envelope and the letter both had an old smell to them, and the words on the letter were delicate, with only a few lines of people. They did not have a signature or a clear title, but only wrote, "Child, when you have time, go back and take a look."

Ann Qianxi caressed the words that had transcended countless years, feeling puzzled in her heart. These were her mother's words? Go back and see, where is it?

She thought of the map. Could it be that she was going to the place the map pointed to? However, there was no place on this map. There was only an extremely simple line.

Ann Qianxi no longer bothered with this question. She picked up all the items and stuffed them into her clothes. With a disappointed expression, she walked out of the house and got into the car absent-mindedly.

Wang Ge looked at Ann Qianxi's dazed expression and thought she was just sentimental. He didn't say anything and just sent Ann Qianxi back to her new rented house.

"Wait here for me. Take me to the hospital later." After saying that, Ann Qianxi got out of the car.

After she returned to the house, she closed the door and made sure that Wang Ge didn't follow her. She took out the file bag, map, and photos, then carefully opened the secret compartment that hid the fruit wine.

Wang Ge sent Ann Qianxi to the hospital. Ann Qianxi said that she was going to see Dong'er so that Wang Ge wouldn't have to follow her, but Wang Ge brought up Master Hua, who came to the hospital before, and insisted on following her.

In the ward, Dong'er had fallen asleep.

Ann Qianxi walked in quietly to Dong'er's side and tucked him into the blanket. She looked at Dong'er's pink and tender face and went back to sleep obediently. She couldn't help but reveal a doting expression as she bent down and lightly kissed him.

She was here to retrieve the data from her previous brain exam. Although the doctor said that there was nothing wrong, Ann Qianxi felt that there must be something wrong. Otherwise, why would she forget so many things and have to get drunk to remember them? Those memories were also extraordinary. She had to find out the truth.

Ann Qianxi told Wang Ge to wait for her in the ward. She said she needed to go to the washroom, but she actually went to Dr. Pann for the brain exam data.

Although the hospital said that there was no problem with the data, Ann Qianxi still didn't believe it. She couldn't go to a professional hospital in a high profile, so she could only let Prof. Zhang take a look. Perhaps he could see that there were some problems that ordinary hospitals couldn't see through.

She directly used her phone to edit the email and clicked send it. Soon, her phone displayed that it had been sent.
