C223 Repentance
"Ann Qianxi, are you crazy? Didn't you hear what I just said? " Lei Jia shouted in disbelief.
Ann Dong'er wrapped his arms around Ann Qianxi's neck and looked at her in surprise. "Mom, are you going to be taken away?" he asked, a little fearfully. Will Dong'er go to the orphanage? "
Ann Qianxi pressed the button on the elevator door with all her might, repeating, "No, no."
Ann Dong'er caressed her face with his small hand as if he was comforting her.
When they came downstairs, they could still see Chi Shaojun's back. Although he was dragged downstairs early in the morning, all the reporters in the hall, as well as those downstairs, rushed up like a swarm of bees, wanting to interview Chi Shaojun. Wang Ge and the rest of them couldn't move a muscle. Ann Qianxi saw the reporters and them blocking the entrance.
She rushed over and watched Wang Ge and the other cops drive the reporters aside. Ann Qianxi called eagerly after Chi Shaojun, "Shaojun!"
Chi Shaojun ignored her, so she could only yell again. This time, Chi Shaojun turned around to look at her, but his eyes were bone-deep cold and filled with hatred.
Ann Qianxi froze on the spot, feeling as if all the blood in her body had frozen. She watched him being led out of the hotel, and instinctively she put her foot down and watched him being led into the police car, but his eyes were still as cold as a bone, as if he were an irreconcilable enemy.
Ann Qianxi was not unfamiliar with such a gaze. It was as if she was looking at her former self. He once hated Chi Shaojun like this too, hated him for betraying and abandoning him.
But that was all a misunderstanding. Only true love could give birth to such deep-seated hatred.
Ann Dong'er stretched out his hand to wipe Ann Qianxi's tears. He didn't know when she was standing there, watching the police car go into the distance with tears all over her face. Seeing Ann Qianxi crying silently, Ann Dong'er also started to cry. As she cried, she reached out her hand to wipe the tears off Ann Qianxi's face.
Ann Qianxi's soul was pulled back by Ann Dong'er's crying voice. She immediately hugged Ann Dong'er and comforted him. When the cold wind blew, she realized that her face was covered in tears.
She realized that the hotel had become empty after standing there for so long.
She held Dong'er and stopped a car, getting ready to go home.
All along the way, she was in a trance. Thinking about how Chi Shaojun looked at her before he was taken away, her heart felt like it was being stabbed by a knife.
When a person truly loves you, you can't possibly not feel it. Only now did Ann Qianxi dare to admit that the man who kept pestering her to stay by her side truly loved her and treated her well. The more she thought about it, the more bitter she felt in her heart.
However, he was now in prison, and although he had been plotted, he was selling his addictive intoxication to earn money and be punished for it.
But her heart was not the same. Her heart was as sore as if it had been fried, empty and aching.
"Mother, mother …" Ann Dong'er worriedly called out to her.
When Ann Qianxi came back to her senses, she heard the driver say impatiently, "We're already here, stop blanking out."
She quickly gave the driver the money and got out of the car.
Inside the room, Ann Qianxi sat on the sofa, exhausted. She sighed, her eyes were sore and she was in excruciating pain.
"Mom, why was Uncle Chi taken away?" Ann Dong'er asked sadly.
Ann Qianxi's mood, which had just calmed down a little, became extremely heavy. She resisted the urge to cry and said, "Uncle Chi did something wrong."
"Then what will happen to Uncle Chi?" Ann Dong'er asked worriedly.
A tear finally fell. Ann Qianxi quickly wiped it away with her hand and said, "Uncle Chi is just going to fix it. He will be fine."
Ann Dong'er looked at her and knew that she was sad for Chi Shaojun. He sat obediently at the side and stopped asking about Chi Shaojun. After a while, he rubbed his belly and hesitated for a while before saying, "Mom, I'm hungry."
Ann Qianxi looked at him and touched his face. She sighed and said, "Mom will go cook and wait for Mommy."
He nodded vigorously.
After an unknown period of time, Ann Dong'er felt that Ann Qianxi cooked for a longer time than usual. He touched his stomach and jumped off the sofa. He walked to the door of the kitchen and stuck his head out.
In the kitchen, there was something being stewed. Steam was drifting up to the ceiling, and Ann Qianxi was standing at the side, tears streaming down her face.
Ann Dong'er walked into the kitchen while crying. Ann Qianxi quickly bent down and hugged him, comforting him. The two of them hugged each other and cried together.
After dinner, the two rested for a while. Ann Qianxi let Ann Dong'er take a bath while she coaxed him to sleep.
She suddenly thought of Chi Shaojun's story, the story of the three squirrels, and how her father had found the squirrel mother and the squirrel baby who had left.
She hated herself a little, hated herself for not admitting her feelings for Chi Shaojun before. She hated herself for not letting go of the past earlier, hated herself for not talking to Chi Shaojun earlier and pulling him back onto the right path earlier. Otherwise, things might not have turned out this way.
Her eyes moistened as she looked at Ann Dong'er's sleeping face. Dong'er had always wanted a father. His father was with him, but she had not been able to keep him. For a moment, she didn't even think she deserved to be her mother.
She turned off the light and slipped out of the room and into the guest room. She dried her eyes and sat there in a daze.
Just this morning they were in the same room, having breakfast together like a family of three. But now, everything had been turned upside down. In just a day's time, a century seemed to have passed.
Ann Qianxi's mind was filled with all sorts of thoughts, but after an unknown period of time, she finally fell asleep. She had had many chaotic dreams, in which Chi Shaojun had abandoned her completely. He was still the successor of the Chi's Group, who was high up in the sky, and could cry out like the wind and rain, while she could no longer approach him. In her dreams, Ann Qianxi thought, maybe this was also good. The two of them would no longer have any interactions, neither of them would hate each other, both of them would live peacefully.
But she couldn't let it go. She wanted to see him, and she knew he loved her.
Ann Qianxi suddenly opened her eyes. The helplessness and sorrow in her dream lingered, and tears welled up in her eyes once again.
She looked at the time, got up to make breakfast, then at noon to make lunch, then dinner. The rest of the time she did other chores, and when she was done she fell into a daze.
She was like a dull housewife, like a clockwork robot.
There was peace in the rental house. What she did not know was that at this moment, all the websites and television stations were in an uproar.
