Lin Bei mused, "Now that I've encountered you, I might as well slay you to pass the time!" With that, he cracked his neck and drew the Blade of God, charging into the fray.
The gaze of the Fire Mantis fixed on Lin Bei as they swung their scythe-like arms at him. Flames roared to life around them, searingly intense.
"These Fire Mantises are too feeble in their attack," Lin Bei thought. "It would be far more thrilling if there were more of them."
As one of the mantises neared, Lin Bei executed a swift Z-shaped Step, narrowly evading the creature's bladed assault. Without pausing, he bolted in the opposite direction.
The Fire Mantis, having missed its target, bellowed in frustration and gave chase.
Lin Bei didn't look back, sprinting deeper into the Maple Leaf Plain. Upon spotting another Fire Mantis, he didn't hesitate to run. His back-and-forth maneuvers eventually drew a group of ten mantises.
Activating the Charm Rabbit Summoning, the enchanting Bunny Girl materialized, her charm spell taking effect. Her ruby eyes cast a bewitching red glow, and she swiftly ensnared the ten Fire Mantises under her spell. With a flick of her wrist, she corralled them into Lin Bei's pre-set Elemental Trap.
"The Elemental Trap is activated!" a voice announced. "The randomly selected element is Wind Attribute."
Caught in the trap, the mantises were engulfed by a miniature tornado, their bodies mercilessly shredded by the gale-force winds.
Lin Bei's Teleportation afterimage could only strike a single mantis at a time. Even with the Bunny Girl's influence, he could only trigger Teleportation once. He had intended to push its limits, but his plans went awry.
"I need to master more skills," Lin Bei reflected gravely. "My current abilities offer no edge against these high-level monsters!"
He knew he couldn't delay; the mission he was curious about would slip away if he didn't act now. Resolved, Lin Bei resumed his assault.
He focused his attacks on one Fire Mantis, whose defenses were weakened by 80% due to Teleportation. He managed to slay it before the effects of the Elemental Trap and Charm wore off.
The remaining nine mantises charged at him, intent on rending him limb from limb. But Lin Bei, the reigning field combat champion, kept his distance and methodically dispatched each one.
By the time the last mantis fell, Lin Bei was soaked in sweat. Catching his breath, he shook his head, a sobering thought crossing his mind: "I can't afford to be so reckless again! I nearly got myself killed."
