C1 A Deadly Future

When Darkness and Light collide,

One of them must fall,

Light is a fire from inside that destroys everything in its path,

Darkness is void that creeps in and consumes everything it touches,

We need them both to survive,

But which one do we need more?

Once there were two brothers and a sister. The gifted three spend their young days amusing themselves through the forest.

Everything they touched grew in abundance, everything they drank from created more and everything they thought of became real.

But the people around them had noticed these wondrous things and on a day they marched themselves up the hill straight to the door of the children’s home deep within the forest.

They demanded the parents hand them over.

“Burn they must!” The people yelled.

But the parents refused.

The angry people dragged the two of them from their home instead and set them alight.

“Then burn they must!” The people yelled.

The children, who were hiding in the tree line, looked with horror as their parents burned.

The children fled through the forest swearing revenge for the people.

They spend their growing years practicing and perfecting their gifts, each getting stronger in their own power.

The one brother was able to turn himself into different animals, inhabiting their every need and desire and in turn use their strengths as he’s own.

The second brother saw that if he consumed the blood of another he could enhance his own powers; being faster, stronger, even be able to hear and smell better.

Their sister on the other hand saw how this lust for more power was consuming her brothers and knew that with her own enhanced power she may need to stop them, even if it meant losing them.

But a greater evil was lurking around the siblings.

The people of their town have been growing restless as more and more of them go missing, only to never return. Remembering the gifted children from years before, they knew they had to stop this somehow.

They waited till night fall, thinking the dark would help them. They quietly made their way with farm tools and axes in hand to the siblings hiding place, but just as they were about to attack them, out of the darkness and into the dimly lit clearing of the forest stepped three monster like figures, all ready for their revenge.

There was almost no trace of their humanity left.

The siblings used the dark to shelter them as they ripped into the flesh of the people who had wronged them.

The first brother, who chose the form of a wolf, simply and murderously killed to have them dead.

But the second bite into them then drank them dry as he basket in the glory of his own power.

Their sister simply stared into the eyes of her first victim and saw a child, like she was, losing a parent. She let the human go. In a moment of clarity and in realizing what they had done, she cast a spell binding each of them to their current form for all eternity.

Cursing each of them to never forget their sins.

The first brother for his leniency, she only limited his cursed form to a full moon. Where the rest of the time he would remain a human like entity, free to roamed the earth amongst other humans.

For the second brothers viciousness she cursed him to remain the monster he created, never craving food but never being able to quench his thirst for human blood. Forever frozen in time but never able to die.

Then for herself she made sure that she would never be able to kill a human or her own life would be sacrificed. A Keeper of the earth and her inhabitants.

It was with this curse that warfare emerged amongst the siblings, each creating their own collection of unearthly creatures plaguing the world.

Until the humans, who until then was only casualties, had enough.

They drove them all to a near extinction and the few that remained went into hiding. Scattering to all corners of the universe, waiting for a triumphant return. But with every return more blood was spilled, more sacrifices made.

And so the ‘Harvest’ was created.

For the last hundred years held peace for the humans, but with the harvest season came war.

How much more will each side give up to win the war, and if victorious, what will be the eventual reward?
