C2 Two

Quinn's POV

After lunch, I walked to my next class alone. I sat down at my usual desk and took out my notebook. As someone sat next to me, I heard a familiar voice.

"Hey sunshine," Leo flashes a grin at me.

"Hey Leo." I smiled back at him.

"I never got an apology for earlier, you know."

"An apology? Why would I apologize to you? You're the one who got in my way. I'm the one who fell!"

"Ouch, that almost hurt more than when you walked straight into me, Sunshine." I just rolled my eyes at him.

"Well then, I'm sorry." I said, my voice clearly dripping with sarcasm. "How could I ever make it up to you?"

"Get dinner with me." He said. He stated it ever so simply, like it didn't mean anything.

"I'm sorry. What?"

"Get dinner with me. Are you deaf, Sunshine?" He chuckled.

"Quinn. My name, is Quinn." I corrected him.

"Right, Quinn. So dinner. When are you free?" He asked. I was honestly speechless.

"I-um. I just-uh. I'm not really looking for a relationship right now." I knew the blush creeping up on my cheeks would be obvious to him. I tried to hide my face the best I could do I could save my self from embarrassment.

"Who said anything about dating?" He laughed. I knew he thought that my flustered state was funny. "Two friends can't get dinner together?"

"Are we even friends?" I asked. I immediately realized how bitchy that sounds. I couldn't read the expression on his face, but it changed back to his usual smile.

"Well, I guess we'll get to know each other better then." He was hellbent on this dinner. I couldn't refuse. It was a nice offer, after all, he said it was just friendly. That I could do.

Our conversation was interrupted when the teacher began the lesson. The class went by pretty quickly, as I was concentrated on my work.

I could feel eyes on me occasionally, and I assumed it was Leo. I shook it off, not letting him get to me.

Before I knew it, the class was over. I packed up my things and headed out the door. I turned over my shoulder towards Leo.

"Saturday." I said. He looked confused at first, but when realization hit, a grin spread across his face.

"Wait! I need your number." He took out his phone and held it out to me. A new contact was open and the name already read Sunshine. I just laughed and shook my head. I put in my number and put the phone back in his hand.

I smiled at him one more time before I walked out. I met up with Jess as we headed to gym.

"What are you so cheesy about?" She asked poking my cheek.

"I'm going out with Leo. As friends." As I heard the words come out of my mouth, I realized immediately that she would take them the wrong way.

Jess's face lit up.

"You're going on a date with Leo Chase?" She asked in excitement.

"Shhh!" I put my hand over her mouth. "1. It's not a date. 2. I don't need the whole school hearing." I removed my hand and she wore the same smile she did before.

"Yeah, yeah. Let's go." I grabbed her hand and dragged her into the locker room.

——

For some reason, the thought of hanging out with Leo made me feel different than I have in a while. I was excited to make another friend, but there was a hint of something more. I felt butterflies thinking about it.

Maybe, I kind of had a tiny crush on Leo. Well not a crush. I didn't know him that well, but I wasn't dumb enough to be oblivious to his attractiveness.

For the first time in a while, I left school with a smile on my face. I hopped in the car with Thomas, humming to myself.

"What are you so happy about?" Thomas questioned.

"Nothing." I was not in the mood to talk to my brother about boys.

"Something, obviously. I haven't seen you this happy in a while."

"Thomas, it's not a huge deal. I'm just excited to hang out with a friend of Saturday." Technically not a lie.

"Mhmm." A simple reply.

I shook my head and looked out the window. Leo caught my eye. I watched as he walked across the parking lot and smiled to myself.

"Leo Chase?" Thomas asked.

"Hmm?"

"I just watched you make googly eyes at him as he walked across the parking lot." He teased.

"Ok. Maybe he asked me to dinner. We bumped into each other this morning, literally, and now we're just going to get to now each other better." I explained.

"Alright," was all he said. With that, he pulled out the parking lot.

"That's it?"

"I like Leo, he's a cool guy." I eyed him suspiciously.

He was usually really annoying about me talking to guys and would always try to get in the way.

Of course, the one time that nothing would happen between me and a guy, he supports it.
