C4 Dream or Destiny?
Aria's eyes shot wide open, like a deer in headlights, and she's frantically looking around her crib, ya feel? Everything's exactly the same as it always is - the familiar walls, the little nightlight doing its thing, and the fridge humming away like a boss. Girl lets out this shaky breath, and her fingers are all trembly as she touches her lips. They feel swollen, like she's been laying one on somebody real good, but Aria's over here like, "Nah, no way that actually happened."
She shakes her head, trying to make sense of this wild, super vivid dream she just had. There was this super intense, enigmatic dude - the "Dragon King," as he called himself - and the way he was staring her down, the electricity crackling between them? It felt so dang real, you know?
But Aria's not trying to even entertain that idea. "Nope, nuh-uh, this was just a dream," she tells herself, closing her eyes and willing her heart to chill out. There's no way any of that freaky stuff could've actually gone down in real life. Right?
Still, she can't shake the lingering sensations - the phantom touch of his big, calloused hands, the scorching kiss that left her lips feeling some type of way. It was all so visceral, so undeniably real, that a part of Aria can't help but wonder if it was more than just a dream.
"Ugh, get it together, girl!" she groans, sitting up and running a hand through her tangled hair. She's gotta focus on the important stuff, you know? Exams, classes, all that good stuff - not some wild fantasy about a mystical dragon dude.
Aria drags herself to the bathroom, splashing some cold water on her face, hoping it'll snap her out of this funk. As she looks in the mirror, she can't help but glance down at her wrists, half-expecting to see those weird, pulsing markings from her dream. But nope, her skin is smooth and unblemished. "Haha, told ya! Just a dream," she mutters, feeling relieved.
Back in her room, Aria checks the time - 7 AM, way too early to be up and at 'em. But sleep is basically a lost cause at this point, so she settles back against the headboard, her mind still whirling.
Who was that guy, and why did he feel so powerfully connected to her, even in her dream? Just thinking about his intense gaze and commanding presence makes Aria shiver. But she shakes her head, determined to push those thoughts aside. "Nope, nope, nope. Not dealing with that crazy stuff. It was just a dream, end of story."
As she's trying to distract herself with some mindless phone scrolling, though, Aria's thumb suddenly freezes on the screen. There, on her home screen, is a single message that makes her heart drop to her stomach:
"I will return for you, my mate. Your destiny awaits."
"What the actual _heck_?" Aria blurts out, staring at the words in disbelief. This has got to be some kind of sick prank, right? There's no way the Dragon King from her dream just hit her up on her phone. That's just... that's just not possible.
But as she traces the letters with a trembling finger, Aria knows deep down that this is no glitch or practical joke. This message is real, just as real as the vivid encounter that's been playing on repeat in her mind.
Aria quickly glances around her apartment, half-expecting the towering, regal figure of the Dragon King to materialize out of thin air. But nope, it's just her, alone in her little crib, with the fridge humming away. She takes a shaky breath, trying to steady her nerves.
"Okay, okay, think, Aria," she mutters to herself. "This can't be happening. I'm just a normal college student - I don't belong in some crazy fantasy world, being the 'mate' of some mythical dragon dude. No way, no how."
And yet, as Aria stares at the message again, she can't deny the surge of anticipation that flutters in her chest. What if it's all real? What if this Dragon King guy is the real deal, and he's somehow bound to her in a way that defies all logic and reason?
Aria lets out a frustrated groan, shaking her head vigorously. "Nope, nope, nope. I'm not going down that rabbit hole. This is insane, pure and simple. I've got my whole life ahead of me - I'm not about to let some dream-man mess that up."
Still, she can't shake the persistent feeling that her world is about to get turned upside down. The Dragon King said he'd be back for her, and Aria knows deep down that when he does return, she might not have the strength to resist him.
As the first rays of dawn start peeking through her curtains, Aria finds herself pacing the length of her apartment, her mind racing a million miles a minute. Part of her wants to write the whole thing off as a crazy, stress-induced dream, but that message on her phone is like a neon sign telling her otherwise.
She pauses by the kitchen counter, eyeing her silent, unresponsive electronics - another weird thing that happened in her dream. Reaching out, Aria gently runs her fingers over the smooth surface of her phone, as if she might uncover some hidden clue or connection to this enigmatic Dragon King.
But the device stays as stubborn and unhelpful as ever, leaving Aria with no further insight into the cryptic message that's got her all twisted up. With a frustrated sigh, she turns away, her feet carrying her over to the living room window.
As Aria gazes out at the gradually brightening city skyline, her thoughts drift back to that dream-like encounter with the powerful, regal stranger. The way he looked at her, the undeniable possessiveness in his touch - it all felt so real, so visceral. And now, with that message on her phone, Aria can't help but wonder if there's more to it all than she ever imagined.
"What if this Dragon King dude is actually real?" she whispers to herself, wrapping her arms around her middle. "What if he's out there, in some crazy fantasy world, and he's actually connected to me in some cosmic, destiny-driven way?" The mere thought sends a shiver - part anticipation, part trepidation - down her spine.
Aria chews on her lower lip, her mind spinning with a million questions and concerns. Part of her wants to just ignore it all, to go back to her perfectly normal, mundane life. But that persistent, primal part of her soul is telling her that she can't run from this, that her life is about to get a whole lot more...extraordinary.
Aria's on the case, ready to dive headfirst into this whole crazy dragon king situation.
So she's been scouring the internet, right? Like, searching high and low for any intel on mythical realms, destined mates, and all that fantastical hooey. But the world wide web is coming up drier than the Sahara. Not a single breadcrumb to follow - just a big ol' digital dead end.
"Ugh, come on!" Aria groans, dramatically flopping back in her chair. "How is there nothing about giant, fire-breathing lizard kings who think they can just swoop in and claim random people as their 'mates'?" She rakes a hand through her hair, feeling the beginnings of a stress headache coming on.
But Aria Blackwood is not one to be easily deterred. Nuh-uh, this girl's got a stubborn streak a mile wide. So she starts tearing apart her apartment, searching for any clues or connections that could help her understand what the heck is going on.
She's digging through old photo albums, rummaging in dusty boxes, leaving no stone unturned. And just when she's about to throw in the towel, Aria spot something in the back of her closet - a worn, leather-bound journal. Her grandma's journal, to be precise.
"Grandma's journal!" Aria exclaims, her eyes lighting up. "Of course, why didn't I think of this sooner?" She practically lunges for the book, cradling it in her hands like it's the holy grail.
Flipping it open, Aria starts speed-reading through the pages, her brow furrowed in intense concentration. "Dragons, mythical realms, ancient bloodlines..." she mutters, her heart racing. "Could this be the key to cracking this whole crazy dragon king case?"
She glances back down at the cryptic message on her phone, the words practically searing into her eyeballs. "Destined mate, huh?" Aria says, a spark of defiance flaring in her chest. "We'll see about that, Mr. Scaly Pants."
Clutching the journal to her chest, Aria settles back onto the couch, ready to dive headfirst into her grandma's mystical musings. Whatever secrets and clues she can uncover, Aria is determined to use them to her advantage. This dragon king dude thinks he can just waltz in and claim her as his own? Fat chance!
Aria's gaze hardens with steely resolve as she flips open the journal once more. "Alright, Grandma," she murmurs, "time to spill the beans. What do you know about these meddling mythical monarchs?"
With a deep breath, Aria begins to read, her eyes scanning the delicate, handwritten pages with a fervor that could put a college student cramming for finals to shame. Whatever answers lie within these weathered pages, she's gonna find them - even if it means going toe-to-toe with a fire-breathing, scale-covered Romeo.
This dragon king may have picked the wrong girl to mess with. Aria Blackwood is about to show him that she's got the smarts, the sass, and the sheer stubbornness to give as good as she gets.
So buckle up, Your Scaliness, because you're about to meet your match. And this college girl is ready to play hardball.
