Chapter Five

Michael's POV

It was morning. As soon as the first ray of sun hit my face, I smiled. Last night, I opened up every single curtain on the windows so that I could feel the sunlight on the first go.

It was obvious that I could not sleep yesterday. Every time I tried to sleep, I felt like I would miss the first sun rays and be the last person to meet her. And James would be there before me, at her side. I couldn't let that happen. No. I just can't.

So as soon as the first ray of sun hit my face, I changed my clothes and walked out of my room to the guest bedroom.

To meet her. To see her face.

I wanted to be the first to greet her in the morning.

I knew that it was still pretty early for her to be awake at this hour but I could wait. I could wait hours for her to wake up. It would also give me the chance to watch her sleep.

I speed walked towards the room and came to a halt when I saw that Adan was still standing there. My nose scrunched up in irritation as I completely forgot that my father asked him to guard this room. Though still, I thought it was a good thing, it kept James away from her as well. Which was a good enough reason for me not to hate him being outside that room.

“Good morning, Michael.” Adan said, right as he saw me coming towards him. I nodded my head in acknowledgement.

“Good morning, Adan.” I said and looked behind his back to the door.

“Did anyone come here in the night?” I asked him. He shook his head.

“No. Nobody came here.” He said and I calmed down a little.

“I heard some voices though, from inside the room.” He told me. My spine stiffened at his words. I furrowed my brows.

“Did you check? Who was it?” I asked him. He nodded his head.

“Yes. At first, I was hesitant but I opened the door to peek inside and saw no one. I guess she was mumbling in her sleep.” He told me.

“Oh. Okay.” I said and my shoulders sagged as relief flooded my veins. Even though I knew that there wasn't anyone who would dare to harm any of us, it didn't erase the chances of having some sort of danger around us. The chances that a hunter or anyone was here, didn't fade away. There was always danger around us. Even if we're in the safest of places. And especially to someone as fragile as Linda. I began to walk to go inside but Adan came in front and blocked me from going inside. I gave him a death glare.

“Not until Alpha Samuel himself allows any of you to meet her.” He said. And I wondered if I was hated by the universe. Why don't just everyone stop interrupting in my life and start minding their own business? My life would become so much easier.

“Dad said till morning and not till he gets here. I just want to see her if she's okay or not.” I told him.

“She's fine.” He told me in a flat tone.

“How do you know? Did you go inside the room to ask her?” I asked him. He was tricked. If he answered in a yes, then he would get in trouble with my father and if he denied then I could walk inside with the excuse of seeing if she was alright. He narrowed his eyes at me. Understanding my trick. I smirked at him.

“Alright, fine. Go inside.” He said and I grinned victoriously. Now, that worked in my favor. I walked inside the room and saw her sleeping.

Her blonde hairs were frizzy and wild, scattered across the pillow. Her eyes were closed and her dark eyelashes looked perfect along with her lips that were chapped and dry. Her mouth was slightly opened, and she breathed in and out, evenly.

I could not help myself but stand there like a robot and stared at her figure. It was mesmerizing.

She really was beautiful.

As soon as my wolf got a whiff of her smell, he jerked into attention. He wanted to touch her, feel her but I didn't let him. If I let him take control of me for once then I don't think, I would be able to control him. My wolf won't be able to control himself. I am known for my self-control thus if I lost control on myself that would be embarrassing.

I knelt down beside her and without thinking, I reached out and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ears that was falling over her eyes. Without realizing what I was doing, I started to lean down to kiss her but stopped right when I felt the aura of my dad and James.

They were here.

I stood up straight when the door opened with a little force than necessary. I looked at them. James looked angry, like I knew he would.

“I knew this idiot would be here.” He said and I smirked.

“What did you decide, dad?” I asked him. He remained quiet for a few minutes but then spoke up.

“She needs to stay here. She can't leave, yet. Not until we figure out about you two having the same mate.” He said in a bit of a heavy tone. Heavier than his usual voice. I tensed at his words but then relaxed. I thought he would say that we had to let her leave but it was good that he didn't. I felt good at his decision and I knew James did too.

“Alright, but what would I tell her as an excuse?” I asked him. He scratched his stubble as if he was pondering on it hard.

“We can't just directly tell her that she can't leave, right?” James asked and I rolled my eyes. Yeah, he was stupid like that.

“No, we can't. Make up an excuse. Say those men who were after her, were looking for her or something. Just don't let her leave.” He told us.

“I'm leaving. I have to attend the pack business. You both take care of this. And try not to fight.” He told us and left the room. We stared after him. He was weird sometimes. Suddenly, I heard a whining noise and when I spun around, I saw Linda waking up. Before I could even move, James came to my side of the bed, knelt down and smiled at her. I wanted to throw him to a wall.

He stole my place.

“Hey, how are you feeling?” He asked her. She smiled at him and sat up.

“I'm feeling good. Last night was heavy. Did I thank both of you for saving me?” She asked, darting her eyes between us. James and I just smiled at her.

“Well then. Thank you both for saving me.” She said and my heart skipped a beat. She thanked me. I mean, I know that she thanked both of us but I can only focus on what she told me.

She stood up and so did James.

“I have to leave now. I've bothered you all enough.” She said and backed away to move towards the door and leave but James grabbed her hand.

“You can't leave.” I said to her. In a way too serious a tone that made her pale.

“What?” She asked.
