C5 Forgive?

It's being one week now and I haven't seen Max at the diner, I feel a little bit worried though because I'm human not that I care for him or anything. It's like he just vanished from the surface of the earth which is very strange considering how small this town is. Someone would have surely seen him if he had left here. I need to stop overthinking or I'll start having grey hair, nothing stops me from calling him but I my pride wouldn't let me. Maybe I kind of over reacted but then again it isn't my fault that the sheriff doesn't like him and I was also trying to be caring by asking him what was wrong but then he got mad. "You're thinking too much Lily, tell me what's on your mind." Jamie asked curiously. "It's nothing I can't handle, I'm fine." I replied forcing a smile.

We were currently at the salon having our nails done, even if I can't see them I'm hoping Jamie choose a good color for me. "Yeah tell that to someone who doesn't know you in and out." She scoffed. This wasn't the best time for her to pry, not in the presence of these ladies here. Gosh, this is like the center of all gossip. Every rumour stems from here. "Like I said I'm fine." I defended. I hope she'd drop the issue but she didn't. "Is it about Max?" She asked slyly with a nudge to my stomach. No shit sherlock, of course it is. "Oooh that guy's so yummy." The lady filing my nails gushed. This is a disaster, I can't afford to let them know. "No it's not." I replied turning to give her a glare. "Honey, you guys would make the perfect couple. I could bet my dog on that." Lady Gigi said from the front.

Lady Gigi, the owner of the famous Gigi salon. How do I put it in a nice way, she's the most promiscuous woman here in town. Divorced with three kids and she keeps giving birth to other kids for different men, I can't even keep count of her children. "Ma'am there's absolutely nothing going on between the both of us. He's just a regular customer at the Diner." I assured. I didn't want her to have any ideas in her head. "Well that's good for me because I can't wait to get my hands on him. I'm so going to rock his world." She confessed. They all laughed like it was some damn joke but I felt a little bit pissed at her revelation. "Easy there tigress, you know very well she's just joking. It's not that you like him or anything." Jamie whispered.

I could imagine the smirk gracing her face now, it's too bad I can't seem to hide my emotions well. "It's your fault this is happening, you started it." I accused, pointing a finger at her. "It is." She gasped feigning shock. When we finally leave here, I'm going to bite her ear off. "The only problem I have is Belle. I can't believe she's married and she keeps going around frolicking with other men." Gigi snorted painfully combing a client's hair to which she cussed immensely. Isabelle, that conniving fox. I thought she had more self respect and value, I should have known she'd never change her ways. She's always been like this since highschool, trying to take the spotlight and bullying everyone. She's the perfect definition of a typical mean girl, she'd definitely get the part.

"Oh please, she's no competition. I bet Lily over here can win over Max. In fact I believe he's smitten by her." Jamie added. I looked at her shocked, she really needs to shut her mouth and stop spewing rubbish. "Hmm Lily, I'm hearing a different news now. Last week we all heard about your date with him." Gigi said smugly. Now I'm the topic of discussion, Jamie just threw me to the big sharks. I would never leave here without saying a thing or two. "He just dropped me off that day, nothing happened between us. It's not like he'd ever look my way." I defended muttering the last part silently but I guess it didn't go unnoticed by Jamie because she touched my hands, I sent a smile to her.

"Stop downgrading yourself hunnie, you've got the looks and everything a man could ever ask of." Gigi scolded coming to stand by my side, it was actually one of the nicest things she's ever said to me. "Thank you very much for saying that to her, it's like she's in her own world in her head. Always feeling she's not worthy just because she's blind." Jamie retorted. "It's true Jamie, no guy would ever want me like this. I'm practically damaged goods." I exclaimed. She didn't understand the pain I felt every single time I wake up in the morning and I remember that I I'm blind, it sucks when I go to the mirror and I can't see myself. "Listen to me Lily, you're one of the strongest and amazing woman I've ever met and I'm honoured to be your best friend, never forget that." Jamie said sternly.

"You should listen to your friend there, I don't know how you do it because I'd have been depressed if I was the one blind."Gigi concurred. "Exactly, by now I'd probably be checked into an asylum." The lady making my nails piped, standing up to clean up. If only I could see what she did with my nails. Their words were actually sweet but there was still a tiny part of me that kept saying she was lying. Maybe I'm worthy enough but I'm still not enough for Max. "Thanks so much Gigi, I love the nails. Especially Lily's, it's looks like it was personally made for her." Jamie teased. Classic Jamie, always finding ways to make me feel better. "It's my pleasure ladies, please come back soon." She replied giving us a kiss on both cheeks.

..........

"Thanks Jamie for the treat, I had a nice time today." I thanked getting down from her car. "It's no problem, remember I'm always here to help whenever you need me. Never forget that Lily." She replied. "Aye aye captain." I answered giving her a salute. She chuckled at my antics. "Are you sure you don't need my help finding your keys, I'm good in finding things." She suggested. I scoffed at that, really. "Says the person that has lost her wallets multiple times." I sassed. "You're so lucky you're blind or else I'd have socked you now." She retorted. "Whatever, bye." I replied waving at her. Now time to look for these stupid keys, they are always missing. "Hey Lily." A voice said scaring the life out me. "Max what are you doing here at my doorstep." I shouted placing a hand on my chest.

"I need to talk to you." He sighed taking a step towards me. He wants to talk to me after one week of ghosting me, of course not. He'd have to work for that. "Don't come any closer, I have pepper spray here with me. I don't want to talk to you." I grunted out frantically looking for my keys. I need to get inside or else I'm going to say what I'm not supposed to or do something that I may regret. "Come on Lily, please just hear me out." He begged. "You don't get to treat me the way you did last week publicly and then come back privately to ask for forgiveness." I sneered. He should think again if coming to beg me would solve the problem. "I don't have anything to say but sorry, I know I messed up for treating you like that but I'm truly sorry." He whispered standing close to me, I could practically feel his warm breathe on my face. I wonder how tall he is.

One thing about Max is that he's so confusing, he's like hot and cold at the same time. I'm not sure I can keep up with that but then something in me is pushing me to give him another chance, I'm not sure I should listen to that. "Before you start overthinking, I got you bananas. Fresh ones at that." He said handing me a bag. This guy must be stupid to think that he'd buy me with this. "Jamie said this would be the perfect as a peace offering." He added. I should have known Jamie could do this type of thing, what sort of friends do I have. "Oh so you're talking to my friends now."I replied with a hint of jealousy crossing my arms . "No it's not like that, Jamie isn't my type I promise, I just needed her help because I know you wouldn't pick my calls." He stuttered.

It's so amusing when he's all worked up, it gives me immense joy. I laughed at his sudden situation. "Seriously Lily, now you're playing with me. That's not fair." He whined. Gosh, he acts like a big baby. "I know besides Jamie would never be into you." I replied finally getting a hold of my keys. He followed me to door." How can you be so sure of that, you know the ladies here actually love me." He puffed smugly. He was right about that and it didn't settle well with me at all. "Well, I'm not part of those ladies." I sassed finger quoting the word ladies. "Hmm are you sure about that, I can always change your mind you know." He flirted taking a hold of my cheek. I inhaled a sharp breath, my heart couldn't take such affection. Our proximity was literally choking me.

"What are you saying." I whispered closing my eyes. He came closer and whispered into my ears. "I think we should go inside, you neighbor is peeping through the window." I opened my eyes instantly and looked at the next door only to see someone shutting the curtains. I groaned at that, now my mom's going to hear about this and possibly the whole town. "That woman talks too much, I can bet on my life that she's on the phone right now with my mom." I sighed. He laughed at that. "Why are you laughing, it isn't funny." I chastised. "You needed to see your face." He wheezed slapping his knees. I never knew my facial expression was so funny but anyways I love his laugh, where did that come from. "You sound like a horse." I deadpanned. "Yeah I'm your horse." He flirted again. He shouldn't be doing this, flirting with me it makes me think he's into me which he's obviously not.

"I have a suggestion." He muttered so low I wouldn't have caught it if the neighborhood wasn't quiet. "Okay spill, I hope it doesn't require me stressing myself." I replied. What could he possibly want know although I'm curious. "Why don't you show me around town, you know I'm new here." He stuttered. "I'm not sure about that." I said with a frown, if people see us together they'll start talking and I don't want to draw more attention to myself. "I promise it would be fun, you've lived here your whole life. You're the perfect person for the job and I promise I'll pay you back." He begged. "I don't need your money, I'm perfectly fine the way I am." I defended feeling a little bit insecure. He's from the city so obviously he's tasted the good side of life while I'm just from the farm.

"I know I didn't mean it that way, I promise this is the only thing I'd ever ask of you besides you'd get free food." He added. Okay food actually caught my attention so now I have to choose between people's words and food. Tough decision but I think food wins, anyone who turns down free food must be from looney town. "Do you promise to behave." I said looking at him sternly. "Yes ma'am." He concurred. I squinted my eyes at him, praying to God that I'm not making the wrong decision. "Okay then, it's a deal." I said shaking hands with him.
