C6 John’s pov
I walked into my company, looking as elegant as ever. I was going to meet up with one of the stubborn clients who has refused to meet my criteria so that we can go ahead with the deal.
“Good morning sir” Mrs Jones, who has been in my office for close to an hour, said while lending her hand out for a handshake.
I came here for business and not pleasantries, so I rejected the handshake with a straight look on my face. “You're beginning to become a Thorn in my flesh ma'am” Her countenance changed to what I would call rage.
“I want you to get your hands off my property. We haven't had a deal yet” she said with a deep frown. I could sense the frustration embedded in her tone.
But I care less. All I wanted was to gain ownership of her land and expand my company in this city. I offered a good sum of money to her, but she claimed that she would not sell it off for the amount.
I know I can buy land anywhere else, but hers sits on a very good site for commercial activities. I can't just sit and watch the opportunity slip off my hand.
“I offered you half a million dollars for that property, and you're still being stubborn about it. I guess I'll have to do this the hard way.” I threatened.
“You can't sit there and threaten me. I could call the forces on you” she replied sternly. I had other things to deal with, so I ignored her whining and left her for the security to take care of.
I had a bodyguard open the door for me, and I entered. “Let's go back home” I notched as the driver drove back to my house.
As the driver drove into the garage to pack the car, I noticed a young lady standing outside my building. She had a scarf on, so I could not identify her from sitting inside the car.
I alighted from my car and adjusted my suit as I walked briskly to where the woman was standing. As I got closer, I noticed it was Sarah, so I grinned.
I had given her an offer yesterday regarding a contract marriage, but she declined it immediately. I was certain about the fact that she would come around definitely.
I walked into my house and straight to the living room without uttering a single word to her. The maidens ushered her into the house, and she stood in the sitting room waiting for an order from me for her to take her seat.
I was quite marvelled because the last time she came here, she displayed a lot of stubbornness and an ill-mannered attitude towards me.
“Good afternoon sir” she said with a very calm tone. I grabbed a bottle of wine from the shelf and poured some of its contents into a glass cup.
I gestured to her to have a seat as I sat down. We both locked eye contact with each other as I waited to see if she would say anything.
Finally, the awkward silence was broken as she cleared her throat. “I came here regarding the offer which you presented to me yesterday,” I crossed my legs as I took one more sip from my glass of wine.
“I think I'll love to accept the proposal,” she said while glittering in fear.
“So, you have finally agreed to accept the proposal?” I said while maintaining a firm look on my face.
Though I was not shocked that she would return, I was shocked to see her behaving so calmly.
“Yes sir,” she replied. I walked into my room and returned to the sitting room holding a file in my hand. Its contents were documents regarding the proposal offer.
I wanted to make this a formal agreement. It was going to be a one-year contract marriage, and she would be free. I have a lot of use for her, and that would not be achieved if she were not my wife.
“You'll sign here” I stretched my hand and offered the document to her while taking a seat. Her expression gradually changed, and her face was filled with confusion.
“I don't understand,” she said confusingly as she opened the document gradually, flipping through pages.
I ignored her and went on to sip from my cup of wine as she continued flipping through the pages in confusion.
“Is this a contract marriage?” she threw the papers at me with disgust.
“Just sign the Goddamn paper and stop exaggerating all this,” I said angrily. I was beginning to get pissed off by her annoying character.
“I can not sign that. I am not a property”. What an irony. She claims she is not a property when I spent double the amount she is worth at the auction yesterday, just to buy her.
“You don't have a choice. Your mother is dying” I said sternly. I added no emotions to what I said. I just sat with my legs crossed.
“How did you know about my mother?” she asked with so much shock embedded in her tone. I could tell from her emotions that she expected that I would be the last out of several people to know that her mother was ill.
“That should not bother you. You have a choice if you want to walk away from this” I said bluntly.
“You need to tell me all that you know” She furrowed her brow while she stood up from the sofa. Look who is pissed off.
“I am tired of playing around” I sighed as I grabbed the document and made my way to the stairs that led to my bedroom.
It is a failed attempt, I guess I would have to find another lady at the auction that would be of use to me. I can not keep up with her insane attitude and curiosity.
“Mr…...Mr. stones,” she stuttered as she called out to me. She had some sense of guilt and regret embedded in her tone.
